    Thank you, Lora. A beautiful prayer. Great to hear your insights about not kneeling and the toxicity of Catholicism. This resonates powerfully for me.

    I went through a few religious paths before finding Druidry and the Morrigan. The kneeling and supplication in all of the previous traditions always rubbed me the wrong way. It felt like weakness in the deity that they would require that of their followers. If a deity is all powerful, why do they need me to bow and scrap. The Irish and Welsh pantheons felt like finding the traditions I had been searching for for a long time. It’s nice to find a fellow follower of the Morrigan.

    Thank you for sharing this beautiful prayer with the world. I appreciate its sincerity and its simplicity and its roots in tradition. I particularly love hearing Pagan prayers as Gaeilge because it does my heart good to know that such thoughts and sentiments have survived despite all that history has done to attempt to silence them.
    I also believe that there is something inherently backward about habitually kneeling in prayer. I think A. Crowley summed it up quite succinctly when he wrote: "The enemies of humanity have always loved to see us on our knees." I don't think that the posture of a supplicant or beggar is becoming of a priest/ess when communing with his/her/their gods.
    Maith thu, agus go raibh mile maith agat aris. Beannachtai ort. --N

    Thank you so much for sharing this prayer. I appreciate your changes as I too do not kneel nor do I see The Morrigan as a mother. The original version would trigger me as well. I would also like to thank you for this 5 Day Challenge. I started it today.

    I grew up protestant (evangelical, pentecostal) and kneeling, and I really appreciate your changes, as they resonate with me as well.

    Raised protestant (Canadian Baptist), we didn't kneel and I don't think most protestants kneel but I think it really depends on the denomination.

      In my Anglican Episcopal upbringing, kneeling for prayer was optional based on personal preference, and it was common to kneel while receiving communion. I was taught to kneel in a 'this is how you should move your body during a church service' way and less of a devotional, prayer-based way.

    Thank you for sharing this prayer! Loved how you explained what you think about kneeling before the ancient gods. Something I've been wondering a lot about lately is honor under the old irish perspective, and The Morrigan perspective. I don't know if you've already made a video about it (gonna check), but I'd really appreciate if you could talk more in depth about it.

    thank you lora!! im currently trying to reconnect with my irish roots and decolonize my practice. in your bit about kneeling (extremely insightful btw) would the proper way to go about it be standing or sitting with your legs crossed? thanks !!

    • @lifewithlisat
      @lifewithlisat 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      They are liminal times or in between times. It’s two examples of the best times to reach out to the Gods/Goddesses. It’s when the veil between our world and the other world is thin for lack of a better way to put it.

      @@lifewithlisat Thanks alot for the explaination . Up to now I gather that there are lighting spectrum differences at those precise moments as the sun comes up and as it goes down . Im wondering if UV or Infared rays are related to them moments in some way ?

    I was wondering if you could talk about how time works in the otherworld. From what I have read apparently 3 years to them is 300 to us does that mean they’ve only been in the otherworld roughly around 37 years to them. How far could their advancements have progressed and adapted to the development of our world? Im relatively new to all this taking in the information has been difficult my autistic mind struggles with retaining most of the information I read but I want to learn. Especially finding the right information is difficult.

  • @laurathurlow3634

    Hi Lora, I'm wondering how to pluralize the honorific, "Morrigan"? I'm learning Irish (which is apparently a much bigger commitment than I thought :-))). I've seen "Morrignae", of course, but I used to be fluent in Latin and feel that "Morrignae" is a Latinization of what should be an Irish term. If "banrion" is pluralized to "banrionna", would Morrigan be pluralized to "Morriganna"? Go raibh míle maith agat!

    I truly am confused on whether or not you believe it’s proper for a non native of Ireland to work with Morrigan? I’m honestly trying to find where I belong.

    • @Ogham
      @Ogham  3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      I have many videos on cultural appropriation vs cultural appreciation on this channel. In short, it's literally my life's work to connect people to Ireland, authentically, and (of course) that includes very many non natives. Please don't project that on me or my work 🤗
