    First ,apologise for my english.I am going to try explain some things in this video as person who use this train route so many times.
    Tasmajdan station (trip begining point) is temporary solution.One of the oldest station but used only for maneuver train operations.Main station was near center of Belgrade.Old and beautiful building from 19 century.Now transformed to museum.New and modern station,Prokop, is not finished yet 100 % , still not completed platform related to automobile wagons.So ,when they do that,starting point will be Prokop station.
    Wagons are almost empty now,but i remember when i counted 23 wagons once (summer,about 15 years ago).Usually 10-15 wagons rest of the year.Average 85 % capacity used.What happened?Well almost every family have a car now,roads are in much better condition,much faster to travel with car and bus than using (in bad shape) railways .
    Locomotives used in this area are usually Made in Romania (Electroputere,Craiova Romania).Also there was a production in Croatia and in Serbia.But usually Yugoslavian factories used for repair (remont).Originaly it is Sweden ASEA locomotive.Payed for licence and produced for comunism market :)
    All smal stations mentioned in this video are situated in mountain Zlatibor area.Only local lines trains stop there.Irellevant for your video . Absolutelly no need for internet search :)
    One information about that train bridge in Small River,that was a highest railways bridge in the world to the 2001.Still highest in Europe.23rd in the world now (22 are in China,madness).Another bridge,Moracica, in this video is part of Belgrade-Bar highway.Yes,it is finished and ready for use.
    Landscapes in Serbia are beautiful,really green,but in Montenegro they are on another level.Really extraordinary.Such a shame for railways condition in Serbia and Montenegro.With faster trains we could use this route, Belgrade-Bar, as atraction for tourists.But nobody want (like)to spend 10-11 hours in train for 500 km distance
    Thanks for video.

      Hi, your English is very good (and so much better than my Serbian ;-).
      Wouldn't be ironic to put a car on a train - and do the journey slower than by car. I noticed you call Topcider Tasmajdan - is it an alternative name? Glad to hear it's temporary.
      I reckon my train was 40 to 50% full. I can appreciate that with more cars, people prefer the flexibility offered. Wow up to 23 carriages! That's impressive.
      Yes I read that the class 461 - if am correct - were made in Romania. I went there last year so I'll have to check the footage from my trip!
      Thank you so much for all the interesting info. The bridges are certainly very impressive.
      Do you know if/when the speed could be increased? I read that investment was made in Serbia to improve the line. A restaurant carriage would be a great addition for tourists. I love my time in Sertbia and Montenegro and would love to visit again. Are there any other train lines you would recommend?
      Thank you very much for watching and sharing your valuable insights

      @@Speedbird1FLY Our roads still not safe,highway Belgrade-Bar at this moment goes to the city of Cacak ,about 150 km highway distance from Belgrade).From Podgorica to Matesevo about 50 km but still not opened(probbably next year).We need that highway because there are two extremely danger parts of road Belgrade-Bar. Canyon Moraca (Montenegro,railway is scary but road is horror,type in TH-cam search "kanjon Moraca put") where almost 1200 people died in crash accidents since road opened and Ibarska magistrala in Serbia, surelly more than 10 000 people died.Two "roads of the death''.You realise why people still use train carriages for car.They goes on vacation with family and really dont want to risk at all.Only use cars on local Montenegro roads.
      Sorry for for Tasmaidan (also in Belgrade).No relation,just lapsus. :) Of course i mean on Topcider.They said it is temporary start point station.But how long, i really dont know.
      You probbably noticed that distance Bijelo Polje- Kolasin is in very good condition?Lazarevac-Valjevo also?That parts are renewed.Train goes with 80 km/h without problem.(Probbably can more than 120 km/h but there is a safety regulations and 80 km/h is max allowed speed).At this moment they working on Podorica-Kolasin bad parts and i belive next year train line reconstruction in Motenegro ,from Bijelo Polje to Bar, will be finished.But max speed still be 80 km/h.Relief configuration and old trains limitatating speed.In Serbia that goes much slower.You surelly noticed that distance Uzice-Priboj is really nightmare.Mountain Zlatibor landscapes are really beautiful but shape of the line is horrible.In many places max speed is 30 km/h.For 70 km almost 2 hours.And reconstruction of that part even not started.When?Probbably next year.How long?Probbably 10 years :))))
      Restoran carriages was always part of train line Bar-Belgrade-Bar.(except local trains=every station stop).But there is no more enough commuters to be financially viable so they are connected to the train composition only durring summer months (for tourism needs) and durring winter hollidays (15 Dec-15 Jan).But night train (by schedule),i think there is restoran carriage durring the all 12 months.I didnt use night train long time ago so i am not sure about that but i bellive that carriage still not cancelled...
      For people who really like trains i can recommend old ,now touristic atraction "Sargan 8 (Sarganska osmica),vintage train with steam locomotive, line.Placed near Mokra Gora (road Uzice-Visegrad).Mokra Gora-Visegrad-Mokra Gora train line for tourists.All that area is oriented to tourism.On Mokra Gora there is also famous director Emir Kusturica Wooden City,in Visegrad is Nobel awarded Ivo Andric memorial tourism complex.Also i can recommend you to visit mountain Tara nature resort,mountains Zlatibor and Zlatar ,lake Uvac near Nova Varos especially.All this is about in 70 km perimeter (hope its good term).You can search all this in TH-cam or Google and decide what to visit.I recomend all this.Serbia is not expensive so not a problem to see all this for about 5 days...You probbably allready visit Montenegro coast line?Also recomendation to visit top of the Serbia.Cities like Subotica,Sombor,Novi Sad,Sremski Karlovci, are really nice with great architecture.Tourist from all of the world really like visits to this this cities...

      wow it's an impressive drive indeed. I can understand why travellers may prefer a safer (albeit slower) option - and it will take some time before the speed of trains improve :-)
      I am glad you also pick up the Sargan 8. I read about it and Uzice would be indeed a good stop over to enjoy more of this region. I didn t have the chance to visit much of Montenegro. Certainly something I want to do more. The situation at the moment with COVID-19 makes planning for future trips a difficult balancing act. I hope things will get back to normal soon -this region has so much to offer and I just wish for people to be safer. Thank you so much for all your valuable comments and tips

      Sorry but i totally disagree with you ..first road are now NOT in better shape..many are in worster shape(there is now highway to Cacak but that is just tiny part off the trip) ..then also everyone had a car..i did not know any family that did not have a car ..off course now cars have much more HP . ..second my family traveled in 80s with train few times a year that route but why we traveled with a train and not a car..we used night train that had a auto train..car would be park on the train ,we would have night sleeping cabin on train (my father ,mother ,my sister and me) and in the morning we would in Bar ,sit in the car and then go to Budva or Croatian coast via Jadranska magistrala .
      Yes we could travel only with a car but this was safer and much easier and my father would be fresh in the morning to drive anywhere we go ...but when we return home we would then go directly with a car

    i did this trip in 2019, but the other way round - from bar to beograd. it took 11.5 hours. the montenegrin part is astonishing, from bar to kolasin we wouldnt stop filming and taking pictures. the serbian part is pretty awesome too, but not so mountainous. i think my train was different, because there were compartments and not the whole wagon with seats. it was my most memorable train trip ever, also cause we were travelling in an historical train from tito's time. but mostly the views and how high it goes were spectacular. loved it. too bad that the balkans dont have many trains, lets hope one day they update the general infraestructure. ps: the way they just put those trains in topcider is pretty ridiculous. when we arrived people were almost fighting to get in the bus into the city - i mean they should have solved this in a different way, topcider didnt seem the best solution, even if it is temporary.

    • @Speedbird1FLY
      @Speedbird1FLY  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Did you take the blue train? I took a taxi to Topcider. There's a tramway line too. I can't remember why this and a few other train services can't use the new station. Mind you, Topcider may have its own charm

    • @somekindofaperson
      @somekindofaperson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Speedbird1FLY hey, i am not sure but probably it was that one. the service moved to topcider because they are rebuilding the whole waterfront of belgrade which includes the main train station, so they moved some of the trains to topcider (i think its mostly to attract foreign investment and might be a hub for speculation, but its just a hunch from someone that never lived in belgrade).
      the problem was: we arrived at night in belgrade in a train station far from the center -. there was a bus to take the passengers...but only one bus was clearly not enough, people almost fought to enter in there. the streets dont have enough light also and to put these important trains further from the center like this, while not giving them a good connection to the center, is a=kinda disrespecting the passengers, including obviously the serbians that need those connections. maybe topcider during the day is best, but they should serve decently these trains since there is still loads of people that use them. cheers.

    actually, the locomotives were made at Electroputere factory in Craiova city from Romania, but they have been revamped by Serbian companies during the 1990, due to the fact that Romania allowed NATO to bomb Serbia from it's teritory, the serbs removed all mentions of the original manufacturer of the locomotives.
    Electroputere Craiova was building these under license from ASEA Sweden, obtained sometime in the 1960. It was a huge factory, building the locos from scratch, including transformers and control panels. Raw materials, like steel sheets, were obtained from Romanian factories, like the steel factory from Galati, apart from the license, the whole machine was romanian. Nowadays only a part of the factory survives as a shopping mall, some of the patents were taken over by Softronic, but they never had the facilities to build locomotives like the old Electroputere company. There was also a bogie factory in Bals, which supplied the wheels for the locomotives as subassemblies.

    I think it would be a VERY smart decision by Belgrade and Podgorica to reconstruct this entire rail line..
    doesn't matter who does it.. (Chinese come to mind).
    But completely renovate and reconstruct it and it will be a major tourist attraction.
    And yeah.. get a a couple of brand new overnight trains with massive windows and nice restoraunt, beds, toilets..

      Not sure the pace matters for tourists, the onboard facilities do and I think a restaurant would be a great addition.

    I hope improvements can be made to increase line speed. Double track and CTC signalling will help.

    • @CreatorPolar
      @CreatorPolar ปีที่แล้ว

      Well you can’t really build double track in the mountains but newer signaling and track upgrades could speed up the trip back down to 7 hours

      A restaurant carriage would be a great addition, especially considering how long this trip takes (not sure such additional service would be that viable though). I hope you'll get to enjoy it in September, it's worth it. Would be great to hear your experience

    Gorgeous scenery and very interesting culture and history. You wrote that the trip used to take seven hours and now takes 11 hours. Part of that extra time I'm assuming is taken up by the border formalities, but I'm sure those didn't take four hours. After all, at 11 hours, the average speed is about 27 mph. I'm curious what the reason for this additional delay is.

    • @Speedbird1FLY
      @Speedbird1FLY  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hi Thank you for watching. I can't agree more, the scenery is really stunning. Yes border facilities (I estimate) add another hour. Part of the line was bombed during the conflict in the Balkans. Although it was repaired, its condition doesn't allow for a much greater speed. I understand that investment has been made on the Serbian side to renovate the line but this is yet to translate in reduced journey time. Although 11 hours sounds like a long journey, it didn't feel like it. I have other train journey videos you might be interested in. Happy to share the links

      Actually, the old name of Podgorica was Podgorica (since the XIV century) and before that Ribnica and still earlier Birziminium. It was briefly known as Titograd over 4 decades of the XX century. A historical blip.
