Solid review. I had a pair of Air’s for almost 2 years and they’re pretty reliable. I used them mostly for running but I could fit them under my helmet and still instruct at the tank school at fort benning. Recently my car stereo died and I’ve been using them while I drive. Well last week they finally died and I thought I was screwed, I contacted aftershockz and they’re being replaced ! I never had any issues wearing them with hats glasses or anything. One thing that sucks is that if you’re laying down they don’t stay on well at all but other than that. Super solid all around and the customer service is efficient and professional.
I have both sets. Before last year, I needed those because my Malia’s bone was pressing up against the cochlear in my left ear, so it couldn’t vibrate and conduct sound properly. If you block your ears when wearing bone conduction headphones, the sound quality will massively improve, and they will bang. Hard. As you stated, you are protecting your hearing from dangerous sound waves by bypassing your eardrums all together.
The vibration is why I gave my Trex Air to my son. It would drive me nuts. I'm glad to hear that they made this improvement. Maybe I'll give the Aeropex a try!
