Marcus Borg is both enlightening and inspirational, without any of that "in your face" attitude that the more bullying branches of Christianity employ. I'm no longer a Christian myself, but an observer and supporter of those who seek it's way. Dr. Borg is a favorite for my quiet times.

All Saint’s Episcopal Church in Pasadena, California is an unusual place. A place where the Holy Spirit and the Spirit of Truth hovers over the sheepfold tirelessly. I have good memories of meeting Maya Angelou and Desmond Tutu there, along with Sunday services & the Rectors Forum. How I wish the whole world, rather than one small community, could be more progressive and exhibit more insightfulness of Jesus’ gospel. Marcus Borg is a very atypical individual. A modern ‘sage’. We were blessed to have him with us. Luckily we live in an era of recorded video so we can share his thoughts.

I think the rich should support socialism this way they can inherit the Kingdom of God by sharing their wealth with the poor! I need about a $117000 to pay my student loan and to get out of my parents' basement !
You need opportunity and fair wages. Student debt should not be that large because the government which takes so much taxes from the populace should be allocating money to most of that cost. It is done in other countries, like Dr. Borg stated, investing in the common good of the people should take priority over millitary spending. Americas are blind to fact that strenghtening the weak will advance the whole of society. Even to get people to wear a mask in the middle of a pandemic to protect society along with themselves is too much of a sacrifice for Americans. America is astonishing to the rest of the world for the extent of selfishness and the way the religious right has turned the message of The Bible upsided down.
So what about Hebrews CH 9, "Without the shedding of blood there is no remission"? It doesn't sound to me like the purpose of a "sacrifice" is just to have a nice picnic.

Hell is not eternal; the literal greek is clear; but in Revelation 14:11 it is also clear that the word used to describe hell; basanismo (torture rack: pain revealing truth)
is literal torment; which the Demons fear (James 2:6) and most men nowadays are oblivious to.
Marcus Borg is one of the worst Antichristian teachers to date. Not only does he deny the nature of a God who by his own
words is all about punitive justice in 12:50:
Isaiah 13:11 "And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity;" (punish = punitive)
But it is evident in his speeches that he denies the literal resurrection of Christ as "not being necessary" in the debate against
William Lane Craig. Obviously Borg "lost" that debate by never giving good arguments and always only relaying his opinions.
Hell is not eternal: but Hell is literal fiery torment. Revelation 14:11 proves this by the word for torture. Torture referrs to a touchstone.

That’s base of a book you have no evidence it’s true and that’s your believe. Most Christians have no clue how the Bible evolved. It was put together by over 200 bishops in Rome around 300AD and they left out over 16 books… So to use the Bible to judge someone and use hell to make people fearful? We should come to God for his love not through fear and avoidance of a human created hell. Jews didn’t believe in a hell and still don’t. So suddenly Jesus came and died and God suddenly created hell? So there was no hell at first until Jesus rose from the dead?

I certainly know of what you are speaking; we have and All Saints here in Pawleys Is, SC, but it is the polar opposite of the church in Pasadena.
