By U.S standards, $20 million public participation in an economic development project of this size is relatively small.

Trust me, the state and county are into Airbus for well over $100M in incentives. This is like the 2nd or 3rd incentives package over the years. Every time Airbus expands, they offer more incentives to them. I'm not even sure that Airbus necessarily asks for more money.

Whether the employees live in Baldwin County or out of state in Mississippi, the economic impact is a net positive for the entire region. The county commissioners can't mandate that jobs only go to Mobile County residents. Baldwin County commuters cause wildly annoying traffic problems in Mobile County, but they still have the right to work in Mobile County if they want to. God knows, there's hardly anything going on in Baldwin County other than retail and hospitality jobs.

Your wrong. As a Senior financial analyst for the City of Houston, it’s always the one city/county that pays for big infrastructure projects and the other cities/counties that didn’t pitch in that benefits for it.
      An example for Houston.
      1. The city of Houston owns both Hobby and IAH and the citizens pay for all the upgrades and maintained where the neighboring counties/cities pay nothing at all and they get the benefit an international airport
      2. City of Houston is pitching in to expand 1-45 freeway but more commuter form the woodlands use 1-45 then citizens form Houston but guess who is paying for the it.
So one city/county pays for it with bonds and the people that benefit from it move out that city because to avoid paying taxes for the same items they are benefiting from

@@corderajones Tommy brought a toy to the playground but now Jimmy is playing with it. Really? You don't think that Houston benefits from other people using their airports? You don't think that Houston benefits from a freeway that people from The Woodlands use? Where do you think these people are going? Jobs in Houston perhaps, airports in Houston? Movies in Houston, dinner? You're so focused on "we paid for this and they're using it for free!" that you're blinded.
It blows me away that people put in positions to analyze these sorts of things miss the point by such a large margin. The states in general are bad at this and Texas is probably the worst. Let's do a thought experiment for a moment, what if nobody but people from inside Houston used the Houston airport? It wouldn't exist. It literally wouldn't exist. How about we put access control on those freeways so only people who live in Houston can use them. Houston would crumble as the people can't get to work now and the businesses can't pay their taxes.
Maybe someone needs to start a school for financial analysts that teach them math.

I am writing to address the concerns raised regarding the proposed expansion of Airbus in Mobile, Alabama. It is essential to understand the significance of this expansion in meeting industry demand, and the economic impact it will have on the entire region as a whole. First and foremost, it is crucial to emphasize that people have the freedom to choose where they live and work in our great country. Mandating that jobs only go to Mobile County residents would limit opportunities and undermine the principles of personal choice and economic freedom. Embracing diversity and attracting talent from various areas will foster a stronger and more dynamic workforce.
The expansion of Airbus will undoubtedly bring about a net positive economic impact on the entire region, irrespective of where employees reside. The influx of jobs and increased business activities will stimulate growth, support local businesses, and contribute to the overall prosperity of the area. This expansion represents an opportunity for economic advancement that should be embraced for the benefit of all residents. While it is true that Baldwin County commuters may contribute to traffic challenges in Mobile County, it is important to remember that these individuals have the right to seek employment opportunities wherever they choose. Traffic concerns can be addressed through effective transportation planning and infrastructure improvements, ensuring smoother mobility for all residents and workers.
Additionally, it is essential to recognize that the expansion of Airbus brings diversification to the local job market. While Baldwin County may primarily rely on retail and hospitality jobs, the presence of a major aerospace manufacturer offers a new avenue for employment and growth. This diversification strengthens the resilience of the local economy and provides individuals with opportunities in different sectors. In considering the concerns raised, it is significant to maintain a balanced perspective that looks beyond immediate inconveniences. By embracing the expansion of Airbus, we can collectively foster economic growth, create job opportunities, and improve the overall quality of life in the region. Collaboration and a shared vision for progress are key to realizing the full potential of this development.

Port, rail, highway, and airport facilities all clustered in one complex. Remember, Airbus is a European company. They're not a slave to culture warfare like you evidently are. They have a broad world view that's foreign to Americans who are cloistered in their small bubble.
