I spent my childhood in Shillong. I love Meghalaya, its not just exceptionally clean it's equally breathtakingly beautiful state. We have lot of family friends from Khasi Community.

Im from Meghalaya and I im happy to see Mawlynnong continues to make the village clean. It has been the cleanest village for years and has set good example for others.
Just wish all villages in India follow this village pattern.
Please note that many villages nearby Mawlynnong are also clean because the community people like cleanliness 👍🏼

I am from India and feel so lucky to have my hardworking parents because of them we went on a family trip there and people of northeast are so sweet and welcoming it was very nice to visit .. Specifically our guide he was local... Explaining there tradition as we know that India is so diverse and every place has there own tradition... At last I will say it was a wonderful trip.

They are so beautiful both inside and outside, so talentedd(that the rest of India didn't recognised much.. But happy that nowadays they are getting recognised more..), they are good in maintaining their culture, fashion sense, food cuisines and good in English.... Tbh I went there while I was in Meghalaya and rn I was on the verge of crying from happiness that people are finally realising that Northeastern states and villages are so dang good and diverse in culture and language!! I belong to North India but I love North Eastern states much more and feel like home there more than in my state.... The people of this region are so damn friendly I swear me being an introvert I found many people to talk to without any judgement!! 🥺

Same, i visited uttrakhand in 2020 and got stuck there because of lockdown as I remember the people of the village "charghat" helped me alot they offered me to stay in there house literally they also invited me to dinner, breakfast, lunch like I was there family member or something, they gave me a tour of there village, mountain, rivers that was amazing, i just got very easy to go and attached to them very easily iam not that kind of person, i stayed there for more than 2 months and it was great fun.

Being a resident of Meghalaya makes me proud that Mawlynnong is in Meghalaya itself. This place is an inspiration to all. However there are still many areas here in Meghalaya that need to follow Mawlynnong's example. I hope the day will come soon that our state of Meghalaya and our Country India will be garbage-free. @@mari8221 Why are you always blaming the government? This cleanest village isn't developed like others cities but still they take responsibility in cleaning themselves and living clean, they take self initiative, they didn't wait for government. Here everytime we are waiting for government, do something great that the government will recognize you. Here in my capital city agartala we people always depends on the government servants that is the department of Municipal corporation who are in charge of clean city, they try their best to clean the street every morning and also noon. But we people still throw waste on the street expecting those Municipal people to clean it, they do clean but if we as a citizen be a responsible citizen, the country would be great. Thank you.
