Being a 3rd year architecture student, I am really interested in providing affordable housing to informal housed areas.
Here in Delhi there is a program of slum rehabilitation where government provide group housing at affordable rates to slum dwellers, But it will be identical and will be totally different from what people need. government thinks them as a group while solving there problem but in reality they do have their own identity and has different needs.
Some have small business at slum with living attached.
Some have family of 10 and some have no family.
So what i think can be a solution is module housing.
As per there need they can choose no or type of module they have to use, and they will be able to customise there living spaces as per there need or affordability.
