So you put in the Red Cross lights so riders can see them, then don’t use the lights and expect them to see a static (unwaving) flag when they have to focus on hitting a line on a rutted jump face.
Completely 💯. They hold the flag totally still, at the *finish line* to close the _final lap_ and they assume NO responsibility for the first 10 or so riders ALL jumping. This is an unusual case and it should not be penalized this time. All's Well.
@@RastaRider I personally think they need to change to a flag that can be waived so it can be seen. Why the most important flag is stationary (so it’s the easiest to miss) is beyond me. Just make the cross extend to the outer edge of the flag and it will be easily recognized when waved.
Why was it even out in the first place
In an emergency situation, that static Red Cross flag on the inside edge of the track is easily lost in the field of rider’s visibility. Monster uses green lights on the bikes & even the yellow pedestal to help the fans find the leader on the track, so why not use the same light concept for the riders.

Will the AMA ever sanction Barcia for his riding? Hard racing is one thing but that move was beyond fair (even if not deliberate) and extremely careless.
They gave out no penalty for that and called it a racing incident, I mean seriously look at the line he was taking basically hit him head on literally would have flown off the track over the berm if he didnt smoke Jett, Ridiculous

This sport needs to get its act together, Justin Barcia took Jett out plain and simple, he was not executing a turning line, the apex of Justin's line was off the track. If the sport does not rule on some consequences for deliberate ramming to cause injuries to take the championship leader out, then it cannot be classified as a 'sport' more like tribal gang fighting or the Hunger Games.
Justin Barcia, Jason Anderson and Vince Friese are fabulous riders but they are no better than Hired Thugs and the sport should not allow that 'ride to maim' behavior.
the apex of his turn was not off the track....it was off the racing line, but an acceptable line regardless. jett cut down into him, barcia went past his braking point by like 3 feet. if either one of them didn't make a misjudgement, they wouldn't have crashed. therefore you can't place full blame on either one of them, though Barcia didn't need to be so aggressive. it's racing

If you pay close attention to Barcias bike, he slams the front brakes when he sees jett in the corner. He does try to stop. Even if it was way too late
he also about got cleaned by vince but you could really only see it if you were there but barca about got murdered the turn before

You don't wave the medical flag. Otherwise it just turns into a moving white flag, which is something completely different.
For rider safety, it should have been displayed before the corner. When half the field misses it, it’s not a rider issue, it’s the AMA being the AMAteurs they are.

Barcia finished sixth in moto 1, fourth in moto 2, and had a possible podium with a top 5 moto 3 finish. It must be contract incentives that would make him behave so carelessly.

Getting blasted by Barcia is just a right of passage. Everyone in the class has been on the receiving end of his dirty riding. This was just the first time Barcia was near Jett this year so he took him out. It seems to be a mental illness with Barcia. Really no good defense for Barcia. That was a stupid move, and should be penalized. Either he was out of control and too deep on the brakes, which is likely, or he was going for a pass that would never have been clean in a thousand years. Neither reflects well on him. You take Lawrence off the track and Barcia's eating dirt because he's in way too deep.
In civilized racing series, that sort of out-of-control riding would land you a penalty. The AMA basically shrugging and looking the other way doesn't reflect well on them either.

5 round suspension. 50k fine. 2 years probation, any incident at all, and worse penalty applies. He brings nothing to the sport, if he had ended the career of its next superstar, the AMA would lose a lot of eyes.
