Good one, thanks! "Divine Attack" is a great song, well structured, elegant, with a smooth drive, cool drum & bass sections, a nice orchestral touch, some heavy riffing and, of course, Su-metal's amazing vocals. Not to mention that she is credited for the lyrics on this one for the first time. That's a really big achievement for her and (in her own words) "a dream" and "a final goal in life". She wanted to write the lyrics for this after listening to the demo which she immediately related to "Road of Resistance", a song she loves and even adopted as a personal anthem. This one, though, has a nice turn since it's a direct call to action; to stand up and prepare for the battle (probably metaphorically). Looks like we have a great lyricist here. 😁 🤘🦊
Nice one! Divine Attack is one of my favorites. The lyrics paraphrased: "The strong gathers here, the route to retreat has been cut off, stand up and go forth to the tomorrow you imagined, carve that path with your own hands!" Amazing song. FYI, Kami Band has supported all live Babymetal shows since 2014, so they will always be on stage with Babymetal for live events. The only exceptions are when they collab with other artists. For example, when they performed Ratatata with Electric Callboy on their set, it was Electric Callboy's band. But when Kevin and Nico from EC perform that song on Babymetal's set, it's the Kami Band on stage. Kami West has been with Babymetal since 2019, and actually starting at this concert (Pia Arena MM, Apr 2023 where this Divine Attack performance was filmed), they became Babymetal's sole backing band since then. *Kami West Members:* Chris Kelly: Guitar (stage left) CJ Masciantonio: Guitar (stage right) Clint Tustin: Bass (Ryan Neff in his place on tours when Clint is tied up with other projects) Anthony Barone: Drums. Cheers! 🤘🦊
Oh you'll like the Legend 1997 version of Death. It's important to note that where the Kami band is located all depends on the particular stage setup for the show. The most recent Legend MM shows had them right there with the Ladies on the normal stage. The PIA shows had to have them on the side due to the kind of raising and lowering main stage. If you go and see them in a non-arena show setting, the band is right there and very integrated.
One of my favorite bands and favorite live was Pink Floyd, now it's Babymetal, so your video is fitting. 🙂 Pink Floyd had the most amazing live show for it's time and so does Babymetal and both deliver it very high quality.
The Kami Band were on the left and right sides of the stage on either side of the circle the girls were performing in. This was the Kami Band of the West for this show. Chris and Clint were on the left, and Anthony and CJ were on the right.
Good one (and so much better without the audio obliterated). It is a live show, the Kami Band will be there, but for the most part the cameras' main focus is Su, Moa and Momo. At some concerts predating 2014 the Kami Band did only play the encores so there is a chance you will see guys in skeleton suits (Babybones) waving guitars round - they were not the Kami Band. GAnimal83 already told you who the Kami Band of the West are. 'Divine Attack' was the first single they released following their hiatus and in advance of the album ... and it is special for more than that. When they first heard the demo Su said this song reminded her of one of her own favourite songs 'Road of Resistance' and she said she wanted to write the lyrics ... which is exactly what she did. So Su-metal has her first official writing credit as lyricist for this one.📝🦊 I don't hear anything ballad-y in this one ... they do have a couple of ballads, they're nothing like this. I think what you are hearing is melody, that doesn't make it a ballad.
_The time has come. Stand up!_ 🦊🤘🐎 This was the 1st single out of five released in October 2022, part of the new album "The Other One" released later in March 2023 and is totally a banger. SuMetal got the lyrics credits on this and all of us are proud and happy she reached one of her dreams. She totally rocks!❤️ Here's some official info: Divine Attack - Shingeki (CAVALRY) _The time has come._ _Trascending many barriers and creating many legends, where will BABYMETAL head next? The power and dynamism of the song depicts a cavalry preparing for their future battle._ "Divine Attack - Shingeki" got some drum&bass combined with the heavy riffs of metal sound. They're giving us a new lore and a metalverse with 10 different worlds and songs that are connected in this concept album. We can say that this song carry the spirit and message of songs like Road Of Resistance but this is more like a call to arms and fight for your future. This footage was taken from BabyMetal Begins - The Other One Clear Night, PIA Arena MM, Yokohama in April 2nd, the Black Night took place in April 1st and you can see that clip in MAYA official live MV. This was the first night with MomoMetal as the new official member, the night prior to this they're wearing the old battle dress from Metal Galaxy era while in this you can see them with the new iridiscent costume. MomoMetal (Momoko Okazaki) was one of the three avengers (or backup dancers part of the lore) since 2019. We all proud of MomoMetal being finally part of this group. The backing band here are the Kami Band as always, they were send by the Fox God to help the girls with the metal sound, they only play live and aren't official members, during early era they used to have a Japanese set of musicians but prior to this when they started to perform live they got a fake band called "baby-bones" (you'll see them in the Gimme Chocolate MV and many more live performance before 2013 mainly), later in 2019 they incorporate a new set of western musicians when doing live tour and they were part of this concert and clip you just saw as well the whole World Tour 2023, we called them Western Kami Band. There is an official visualizer with the album studio sound released the same day in October and you can see only the two of them back then, these new shows on DVD/BD they're promoting are part of this historical event when MomoMetal was crowned as the third official member. Next suggestion: - MAYA live at PIA Arena MM 2023 official MV. If you want more clips safe to react and with proshot quality go to "For The Fox God" and "The Foxhole" channel. Thanks for sharing this and see you next time.🦊🤘🔥
Nice reaction. Su-metal wrote the lyrics for this song. And kept the Babymetal tradition of having strong positive uplifting messages in the lyrics. When I first heard this song which was not long after the covid lockdowns ended. I felt the Whole album The Other One reflected feeling a certain way about the lockdowns. Trapped wanting to get out and do something. And with this song and a couple of others from the album they pull a switch. Usually, it was about joining Babymetal as they take the Road of Resistance. But this time Babymetal wants you to take your own Road of Resistance as they support you. This is a very interesting thing that I've not heard very often from bands. On another note. The request to watch Legend 1997 Death. The 1997 is not the year the concert happened. It's the year Su was born in, and it celebrates her 16th birthday. and you will in all likelihood never see another 16th birthday celebration like this again. Babymetal is special and they do things differently. The Foxhole is deep and full of surprises.
Great job and the video played just fine with just the watermark. One never knows with Amuse. I'm still amazed that some people will play the video, no added anything practically full screen? Anyhow again sorry you had to jump through so many hoops and good going.
They don't generally focus on the kami band because they're effectively "hired guns" for the live shows, they're not on a long term contract with the band or with Amuse. I suspect that is also the reason for the change from face paint to masks, it makes it less noticeable when they swap out musicians. It's kind of a bummer because I really did grow fond of Mikko (RIP) and BOH especially but I also know that all those guys have careers of their own and can't just sit around waiting for Babymetal to go on tour.
I'm actually of the opinion that part of the mask thing was them taking on western musicians too (it would like a little strange to see four westerners standing behind them) - for me it kinda diminishes BM a little - I much prefered the cohesion and interaction with the E.Kami band - they felt like a group regardless of being pretty much session musicians
@@astrafaan yeah I loved how they used facial expressions too and really got into character. From what I've seen so far W kami doesn't really play up the stage character opportunities of that makes sense
Hey man great reaction! And thanks for taking my suggestion. It’s hard to make a ranking of Babymetal songs, once you open your mind and accept the fact that this is a new genre(because our mind is set to think that metal only works with male and angry yelling voice) you start to recognize their hard work and appreciate the dedication and their entire soul that these now beautiful ladies have put to make our ears have new and fresh stuff and you start enjoying music and realize the value their work really has. They have almost 70 songs (including original songs/collabs/covers) for me personally 4 songs are tied in my top 1, why top 1? because I love them at the same level each one, those songs are - Headbanger(legend of 1997) - Divine Attack(studio “official visualizer”) - Akatsuki(Budokan black night 2014) - Babymetal Death(legend of 1997) *”Legend of 1997” is the name of the concert made to celebrate the lead singer Su-metal’s 16th birthday, it reffers to the year she was born(in 1997) and took place in the year 2013.* Those are my favorite ones, those are the songs (and the specific version of each song based on the audio quality) that I love obviously everybody has their own favorites, those are my top 1 for me, in the rest of places from 2 to 10 of the top 10 I can fit like 40 songs in there, and the remaining songs maybe on the top 20 tier. That’s how difficult it is to make a ranking of their songs because almost all of them are 🔥🔥🔥. Headbanger and many other songs have many special versions, specially Headbanger, I think is the song with the most quantity of special versions, hope you can watch them all and gift us your reactions man, we’ll be here to support you! Now that you’ve watched one version of Headbanger Divine attack and other songs I’d recommend you to watch in your own time the version of these songs that I wrote above on this comment, we’d love to watch your reactions to those as well in the future, but if you can’t no worries, the point is that you enjoy the best versions of every song at some point. We know it’s hard to make Babymetal reactions, but hope you can get to make them even with all the stuff you need to do to avoid them to get blocked we’ll be here to support you man, for me I’m subscribing right now! 🤘
There are two main problems with the Kami band and giving them more screen time. First the stage setup. For their big arena shows they uusally went for one or more separate stages for only the girls, often moving into the audience or up and down. So they have to put the band somewhere in the back. And second the focus is on the girls, people would be disappointed when not seeing the choreography. The official Kingslayer live video has this problem as it's a Bring Me The Horizon song and they also need to show them and not only the girls. At the regular venues the girls and the band share the stage so you can see everything and they also occansionally interact. However due to the masks this is limited.
Shredder, awesome intro, there is no way I will be comfortably numb after that. A complete aside, Dave Gilmour recently (early September, I think) dropped his new album called Luck and Strange; I reckon it is one of his best works since Pink Floyd days; not bad for a 78yo axe handler. You are probably all over it, but if not, have a listen, it's freaking awesome. Back to Babymetal. Shredder, I am happy that you are coming around to Babymetal, I know for the first few times hearing them it can be a bit of an assault on your senses, however, there are rewards for those who persevere, especially with some of their older music. That was what drove metal elitists mad as they couldn't reconcile the metal band combined with the JPop aesthetic and vocals. Who can blame them, when Babymetal started, many would have thought they were taking the p*ss, however almost 14 years into their Babymetal careers, they are still slaying audiences all over the world. Babymetal is a perfect example of the saying: "Get on board or get out of our way".
I think you paused it and backed up enough to get past the sound check. The sound check uses digital codes you can't hear, if you can mess the codes up it will think it is cool.
In japanese culture its considered rude to sing along with the lead singer which is why the crowd has their own parts which adds to the shows so much for participation
Enjoying your intros every time! I must recommend Wagakki Band and suggest a song called "Ignite". There's English subtitles on their official video: th-cam.com/video/_uxpHq3inUA/w-d-xo.html It's about pushing forward from a musicians perspective, but could apply to anyone. I think you might like it.
they hid the band on the new tours...they are getting a lot of attention from the fans, especially from the metalheads...in their reaction videos they always forget to talk about what BABYMETAL really is: the girls and the choreography

This show is with Kami West. The last show Kami East was present at was BABYMETAL Returns in early 2023. PIA Arena onwards was only with Kami West.
My 2 favorite bands ever: Pink Floyd and Babymetal.
Babymetal is the 3 girls. Thats why a Babymetal concert focuses on them the most..
