That's so easy when you know what you are doing, the really difficult part is getting all that knowledge! Great build! True Craftsmanship = great results! Thank You!
Beautiful restoration. I have a custom frame. I had my builder add braze-ons to the bottom of my head tube where the derailleur cables run. This prevented the cable housing from rubbing the paint off my head tube. Maybe something to consider for your next build.
Damn, that is stunning. I love the old frames, they had character and were just workhorses. I’ve got frames back into the 60’s that are still going and I love them.
That brings back memories from when I was a kid. My dad always had us dress up in cycle gear from the 70s, either his tops (Ken Bird cycles, Orpington CC) or others but one I do remember really well is a SABA tops we wore. They where yellow and brown (it was the 70s lol) I remember visiting a Chap in London, Italo I think his name was and my memory tells me he was the owner of SABA. My Dad and him seemed like great friends and they always laughed. I have an old bike of my Dads, all Campagnolo reynolds 531 tubing etc. It was a nice era for bikes. Like yours BTW great job :)
Great job man. Love the finish on that frame. I recently sold my late 80's steel road bike. Wish I hadn't 😔 might have to do something like this one day
I don't like to call that restoration, but i really like your job and appreciate projects like that. Love neo-retro bikes, and appreciate creativity. Great job, i enjoyed watching the clip!
Wow what a beauty - currently doing something very similar with a 1984 Holdsworth Elan made in UK. Never built a custom bike before let alone all the repairs and respray - Argos Racing Cycles Bristol took care of all that! Your craftsmanship and the video is admirable!
You should be very proud of this build. what a beautiful bike bro. I was just gifted a 77 nishiki Olympic Royle. I pland on building her with modern components. It'll take a lot of work, but there will be nothing like it on the road. Cheers!
I bought an old beat up frame from the Bristol bike project and Lovingly converted it with modern stuff such as disc brakes etc. Great feeling putting new life into an old bike. Come to think of it, I've actually bought two old frames from the Bristol bike project to do up lol
As far as it is perculiar to see modern bits on a classic frame, the black components on a golden frame makes for a gorgeous looker on the street.Careful that it doesn't get stolen!
So sick, restomods are the best. I did the same thing with a 1992 Specialized Hardrock frame I found on the side of the road! Turns out it was purchased right in my hometown brand new in the 90"s too. I painted it, slapped on 1x10 XTR and V-brakes and it was good to go!
Luis Esteve I did a metallic gun metal. Got the paint mixed at an auto parts store and sprayed on by some guys at an auto body school for free. It worked out.
I like the fact you went against convention and fitted black parts over silver for such a vintage frame - and good to read you swapped out the bar/stem combo which looked a bit incongruous. Personally i wouldnt have hammered in the headest cups like that - a few £s of M12 threaded rod, washers and bolts would have pressed them in gently...but fine job.
Saludos.
Right now i am looking for mtb frame like this but cant find a thing so i just open YY to watch videos then I saw this video of yours so now a really was hype to build my own like the build you have here, btw new sub here

Magnificent job on the frame!! I had a Niski Pro from 1976 that I raced on. Memories

Lol!!😄 My man was dramatic with it. I dreamed of a bicycle. It was love at first sight. I had to have her. The greatest love story ever told.
