Papad is paired with rice and daal.
Samosa is filling so avoid eating it as a starter.
Daal is supposed to mixed with rice.
Raita is not supposed to be mixed but eaten separately with spoon to cool your tongue

No papad can be used many ways in South india it is only eaten with rice but in west and north papad is also eaten as appetite with chutneys sweet and spicy ones padaa are also paired with raw onions and tomatoes and made into soup and curries or papad are wetted with water and filled with stuffings

Good to see Westerners trying Indian food! Hopefully - going forward Indian food will not face scepticism and prejudices about Indian food and look down upon! It is helping them in every way - good number of views in comparison to other food blogs, creating a community and off course gastronomically!

Papad... colloquial pronunciation of pappadum...daal is a daily dish with rice in India...samosas are a tea time accompaniment, taj mahal is a famous tombstone in the city of Agra and Kingfisher is the Indian origin beer from the city of Bangalore/Bengaluru and is now owned by Diageo 😊....your pronunciations are just fine...👌🏻👌🏻 And getting better..you will soon be speaking like us Indians...like Russell Peters says, the Indian Accent .... 😀😀...and you are right...the whole noise in the background... that's authentic Indian....we love to chat loudly through our meals...very excited to eat delicious food especially in family/friend groupat
