Such beautiful and careful work, Andy. I never knew that watching someone building and working with stone could be so interesting. Best wishes to you both and all the people of Spain.
Sharon, glad you are back and that your Mum is doing well. Andy, lots of tedious work with the stones and filling the cracks in the ceiling but it sure does look beautiful when it’s done. It’s wonderful how you take the house bit by bit and restore inside and out as you do certain spaces. I so enjoy seeing the changes to the stonework from broken areas with holes all over to beautiful stone walls that still hold their history.
That sounds like it was quite challenging - on a ladder, at night, in the pouring rain! Glad you found the problem, though and were able to fix it. Here’s to staying warm and dry in that room this winter!
Welcome back Sharon. It’s a strange blessing to find the leaks now instead of further down the track when all the lime wash has been done. That exterior wall looks better and better.
great sorting of the roof. unsettled weather is going to be all our problems. here too in mallorca, after living here for more than 10 years the difference is unbelievable. we all need to futureproof for the extreme weather . collect water in the winter however . The summer has so much drought. The balance needs to be thought about. We all need to be alert, but be safe. THOUGHTS FOR THOSE IN VALENCIA. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
If you run a thin bead of putty, silicone or whatever sticks well to roof tiles on the underside edge, you’ll create a drip line and water won’t be able to drip past it. It should then drip off where you want it to. I’ve just done the same here at ours and it’s worked a treat.
@ @ The Finca often have draught conditions, this year their water tanks are filled. The rain there where they live is not the flooding rains of Valencia.
It’s probably difficult to do now, but you might try cutting a drip edge on the bottom side of those tiles. It’ll prevent the water from traveling back up under them.
Hi Sharon and Andy. Love your channel. My house is built on Limestone and fossilized sea bed..At only 4 mtrs above sea level. So we do not put cement in the sinkholes..instead plant trees..about 15 of them. Import good soil coral the water into natural drainage routes and limit the amount of cement. Did the terrain influence your buying the Finca?
When Sam goes back to see her mother, do you write a list of british things you want her to pick up. Baked Beans maybe, pickled eels, cornish pasty, haggis etc etc
Unfortunately I only take hand luggage and so am limited as to what I can bring back. Pre-Brexit I could bring bacon and cheese but not now. I had my curry paste confiscated this time as they classed it as liquid and it was 120g over the 100ml limit. It's a nightmare!
They'll be fine. They are getting their winter feathers and it never gets super cold here, rarely falling below freezing.and usually rises quickly once the sun rises, until which point, they are in the coop
The wall outside looks good.

My prayers are with all who lost a loved one in those terrible floods🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
You have made so many change in this house.
and many more to come!
The rain was a blessing in disguise. Finding the leaks at this stage has probably saved you a heap of trouble in the future.
It was and hopefully they should be all fixed now - I'm quietly confident
We cannot even imagine how devastating the destruction is - praying for everyone who suffered loss🙏
Big hug, Sharon. I get the same Reaction, no need to apologize.

Valencia looked like a war zone 😱😱🥺🥺
Glad you found the leaking tiles
Progress outside is making it look beautiful
👏👏👏👍
Your dry area appreciates the rain but my heart breaks for Valencia! Such a devastating result. Lord have mercy ! They have certainly suffered enough

'Interesting' lol and not very pleasant, to say the least
Welcome home Sharon!
❤❤❤

Are you going to take Andy with you next time Sharon, poor blokes taking root in that house! 😂

Thinking of you. Stay safe.
Gladly you found it with the leaks 😊 the water is good for the land let's hope it's stays like this and not a flood.

I did consider something similar but settled on back filling as it was the easiest solution
Ah bless you Sharon. I'm glad the people pelted the King with mud in Valencia! All being said glad you got some rain.
Why would you be glad?

Gracias oraciones por los compatriotas fallecidos por Valencia toda las personas que han perdido todo y salgan adelante 😢🇪🇦
I get a kick of that white house in the distance, it sorta looks like a shark! Coming out of the puddles.
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

We had already bought it before the floods we got caught in but it certainly influenced an earlier move in date
@FincaLife Thanks for the reply. Life has a way of showing you the right path.

What will the chickens need in terms of warmth in the winter?
