@@alexatakesalook hii, my favorite title tracks are bad boy, peek a boo and feel my rhythm! i also love russian roulette especially because the music video is so crazy hahaha if you check it out you'll see what im talking about, one thing i love about them is that there is never a boring music video they always impress me with the creativity in their songs and videos :3
Someone starting their RV experience with Zimzalabim seems like a prank to me 😂. I've heard very few neutral opinions of that song but it does have probably the most gorgeous bridge I've heard in kpop. The bridge went Joy, Seulgi (the one who's voice you kept loving, also her title is Main Dancer), and Wendy at the end. Wendy is legit one of the best technical singers in kpop groups. Having Seulgi in your group is like having a super power. The RV rundown. They have a dual concept. The Red side is bright, poppy, upbeat, often with weird videos. The Velvet side is darker, mature, R&B oriented. But there is still no explanation for Zimzalabim 😁. The queen of red songs is Red Flavor which took over Korea in the summer of 2017. Also Russian Roulette, Rookie, and my personal favorite red song Umpah Umpah. The most popular Velvet side are Bad Boy, Psycho, Peek-a-boo. Four members' first title song released was Happieness with a mini album, maknae Yeri joined a bit later with Ice Cream Cake and got lots of hate as an invader or outsider. Something really pointless by very online people who apparently had nothing better to do. Leader Irene is on video calling Red Velvet's debut song Ice Cream Cake, so that's how they are. There is a 30-something episode series called Red Velvet A Mess. They are pretty close with notoriously shy Mamamoo, especially Seulgi and Moonbyul. When Wendy fell off a huge unsafe platform at an awards show it was Solar that first found her. Wendy is Korean but spent a lot of her childhood in Canada and US so she'll sound American when you hear her speak English. While she was on hiatus for her injury Irene and Seulgi released a mini album and the video for Naughty is like nothing else out there. JiU and Yoohyeon covered another of their songs Monster, all of them causing problems all around. There's more but that seems enough to get started.
@@alexatakesalook When you get to that part in Really Bad Boy, it was actually Irene and not Wendy; this will make sense the moment you get to that part. Also keep in mind it was released in late November so it's OBVIOUSLY not a Halloween song I don't even know why I brought that up. Red Velvet got invited to North Korea on a peace mission (apparently Kim Jong Un likes Irene) and played two songs, one of them was Bad Boy. That's how big Bad Boy is to the group, though my personal favorite velvet song is Peek-a-boo. Sandwiching a negative between two positives, SM has loaded a ton of queerbaiting in some RV videos. To me it's super obvious and pandering and tacky but I put 100% responsibility on the SM boardroom, members are just employees going to work that day. In Wendy crossover news, Wendy was the host of a radio show for a while. SuA had been a guest on that show and did SuA things, got invited back the next week, and soon was a guest host on that radio show every Tuesday for a little over a year. There is lots of Wendy-SuA content.
So the Chill Kill video is a story of women finding strength in each other in a harrowing situation. They were likey held against their will by some man (the picture frame), forced to entertain him (chair). After he was killed, there was some confusion & guilt at first then they fled. Some time is assumed to have passed (note the different outfits & hair in the bus) but their experience still haunted them (The Chill Kill Trailer th-cam.com/video/59qHkplM484/w-d-xo.html manifests those fears). They come back to torch the place & the police catches up w them. They dance bc it's the last time they can dance free, uncoerced. I like how u picked up on the cult & creepy vibes! RV has a knack for the quirky, creepy, camp & cultish. But they can also be all out whimsical or sultry. And I'm glad you enjoyed Zimzalabim. It used to be among the most polarizing of RV songs among Luvies (short for ReVeluv, the fandom name) so it was an interesting first song for a new(ish) listener haha. It has found new life in concerts tho & ppl finally realize it's a banger. You can dive into RV's discography by watching their Killing Voice. You get to hear the breadth of their music plus it's super fun (they sing Chill Kill in full too).
the story in chill kill is quite simple actually: so they live together with a man (in the picture, thought to be their father) and were held in that place against their will while that man was most probably abusing them, and probably forced them to entertain him (dancing ig). as you can see in the video, one day he comes home and one of the members (wendy) went out of their room and ended up killing him, and you see all the other members find out what happened when they go search for her (you can see joy screaming when she finds wendy with blood all over her, seulgi stepping on a pool of blood, etc.). but yeah, after that, all of them decide to hide the body and clean up the crime scene, however, the experience really messed them all up and you can see them fighting after the accident and you can even see joy with the murder weapon in her hands trying to leave the house, probably to go confess to the police. ig that with time they started healing and finding comfort in each other and finally finding joy in dancing now that they were free. they then decide to go get some gas and burn up the house they grew up in and run away from that place together, but unfortunately they were caught by the cops, and they decide to dance together one last time before they get their freedom taken away once again.
that is beautiful and heartbreaking....but I would like to suggest an alternate ending where RV dance battles the police and they win so they get set free
