You mean 4:52 in the video? Most likely you have done it in the wrong order. You need to click on the picture first, then on the object secondly, and then mege shapes > subtract.

Indou the best color scheme websites are coolors.co, colorhunt.io or Adobe Color, you have many various pre-set scenes and color schemes to use!
