Thank you for your comment. I think all of the 78 disc recordings are excellent recordings. This disc has been re-pressed and is in good condition as it was not damaged by the phonograph needle and has little noise.👍
Brian Rust's discography lists Honoré Dutrey on trombone and Bill Johnson on string bass. Baby Dodds once said he'd grown up in New Orleans playing with string bassists and always felt more comfortable with a bass than a tuba in his rhythm section.
Thank you for your comments as always. Yes, before this lineup, I think it was on July 6, 1928, when Charlie Alexander's piano was replaced by Lil Armstrong. It seems to me that in a small group like this, the string bass is more maneuverable and has a better balance of sound.
Thank you for your comment. I don't even know about restoration software, and I don't import the recorded audio to a PC or process it at all. Some people criticize that, but once uploaded to TH-cam it becomes digital music, but I don't process the music because I want to keep the analog feel as much as possible. I don't want to make my precious 78rpm sound like a CD. Some people remove the noise from 78 disks to make them sound like a CD, but I don't criticize them, it's up to the other person. If you watch my 33 ⅓ RPM video, you can see that I took a picture of an LP jacket propped up against my PC. If you zoom in, you can see the Windows 7 logo. This is the PC my daughter tried to throw away. I make all my videos on this PC. It was so hot this summer that I often stopped.
I'll add some additional explanation. As I said before to another person, I think the main reason the sound sounds so good is that the repressed 78 discs are in good condition. I also think it's important to choose the cartridge that best suits the music from the two or three cartridges you have. In this video, I used a heavy Japanese cartridge. If you focus on the best playback, I think you can make a recording that you consider to be the best. Thank you.
Thank you for sharing this excellent post. I love t.
Thank you very much for your comment. Everyone in the band is wonderful, but I love Natty Dominique's mysterious and charming playing in the prologue.
Recording quality is amazing for 1929.

This sounds great for something recorded in 1929. Did you use a restoration software?
