If Sasuke was changed by Kotoamatsukami to protect the Leaf, then he could have taken down "Tobi" with Sasuke and Sasuke would have returned to the Leaf. Instead he just wants to kill ALL the Uchiha and play control freak. Or if he knew how to use the Izanami, he could have used his eyes on that by putting Sasuke in a time loop.

He always sought power but not for personal ambition but to protect his nation and its people. On many occasions Danzo had to make decisions that ended up having future repercussions but it was because the chosen hokages made many mistakes and it had to be Danzo who tried to fix them. Danzo was by far the best characters, real and genuine as a leader.
