I’m a special education teacher who is licensed to teach mild to profound special education. I was in tears by the middle of the video. The patience, grace, and calmness that was displayed by all of the adults in this video is beautiful. You all did amazing work! Thank you for taking the time to show and educate people on the severity of ASD 💙

I have a question, I used to have special needs, a learning disability and a lisp then one day a miracle happened, I woke up at 6:47am 09/4/2019 I had way more knowledge and strong confidence I also notice I can say my R's now, my adhd deteriorated, Went to school math class basic And Felt uneasy being called special, My teacher then gave us an assignment Took me only 10 minutes to complete, then I helped the other kids, my teacher thought I had steroids to make me focus and to work harder But I didn't have steroids. Anyway my standard iq test [ personal growth test], Lets just say I aced it, so my question is are learning disabilities and speech disorders limited time and not permanent? Because I'm in advanced and IB classes now

I'm seeing an incredible level of trust that this little boy has for Dr. Paul. Idk how much time he's spent with him but I saw several times that he maintained eye contact, relaxed his body into him & immediately wanted to hold his hands. These are not typical behaviors in most kids high on the spectrum with someone who isn't a familiar part of life. I really hope that Dr. Paul will be present in more therapy sessions with him because I think this young man will respond very well to him.

Avoid stimulants such as sugar, artificial sweeteners, food coloring, loud noises, & sudden movements. In 1990, I had a foster child who spent a lot of time on the streets of NYC. He was very verbal, abusively so. He referred to me as a MF repeatedly for about 4 months. He was very combative. Removing those stimulants from the diet was a step in the right direction. He would demand them, but I didn't give in. By removing them from my children's diet was helpful as well. Patience, hug therapy, & kindness went a long way with his development. Long story short, a 7 year old distructive child who couldn't read or write, who didn't know his ABCs or 123s was returned to his parents an 8 year old reading, spelling & writing on 3rd/4th grade level. A hidden talent of mathematics was uncovered, at 5th/6th grade level. He is a grown man now. Living in Miami, Florida. He owns a limosene service, which I'm told is quite successful. He refers to the 9 months he lived with me as the best of his childhood.
Don't give up on these children. Be there for them. BLESSINGS to Dr. Paul & the therapist. GOD willing Nathan will be alright.

@Isabella Neldon, not Nelson. • 100 years ago when my little brother was 6 years old they started medicating him. I looked at my mother and said this is ridiculous. This is what it's come to. If I babysit him and watch over him. Change his diet. Will you please take him off this medication. I was My brother's keeper. We have MTHFR in our family. SNP gene mutations we cannot methylate properly.
My brother most certainly has this having scoliosis. He also had tongue tie. No child that cannot methylate properly should ever be injected. With anything. Synthetics are very bad for them. Folic acid which is in everything premade and preprocessed is actually very bad for them. Any synthetic vitamin. Even glyphosate is sprayed on organics, glyphosate is very bad for them as well. Killing off their gut bacteria, the effects from this in brain and gut connection is devastating to their system and their nervous system. Bacteria are the communication hub between all cells.
40 to 60% of the population can't methylate properly. And do you know it's sad, many people don't realize long ago in their genetics. You can't see it on the surface but anyone with a deeper melanin African Asian Indian native of any land. All have a higher chance of caring SNP Gene mutations.
You need to remove all toxins and synthetics. It's very important. You need to help their methyl pathways. So that they can actually remove the toxins from their cells. It's very important that they eat a certain diet for their microbiome. The gut and brain connection as well as helping the nervous system calm. As what they are doing. Everything works in conjunction. Instead of pulling bread off the shelf you need to make it. No fortified anything. Be very careful on any supplement that you give that child.
I did all of these things. At 13 years old I put my nose to the grind. That's whenever I actually talked myself into cooking dinner and anything else, because the foods that were purchased and used were actually bringing harm to him and myself. That's whenever I found out the MSG was extremely bad for us. No wonder my body ached and I had headaches every time I would eat it.
My own son injured the day he was born. Everyone knew not to touch him but whenever they gave him his bath a cute nurse flirted with my husband and that's whenever he became their human pin cushion. His legs swelled up three times the size of his other leg. They assured me they gave something to him to bypass it through his liver. I was infuriated. I was treated really bad in the hospital and they found out that they actually got my information in another woman that was State care mixed up. Although I had excellent insurance I was treated so very badly. Wound up only paying $350. Not to mention my husband handled of their media. He took the photographs and set up the media for their hospital for 7 years. They really screwed with the wrong family. My doctor felt really bad. My infuriation my own injury was looked upon as frivolous. My own information my own history was looked upon as frivolous.
My brother would scream and kick and fight. It was difficult, for at least a year and a half two years. Pulling him off of those medications, allowing his methyl pathways to properly work. Removing synthetic vitamins nutrients from his diet and giving him really good nutrients. Bioavailable nutrients from animals. Good brone broth that wasn't made to form its own free MSG. Pulled him off of grains, for 6 months. Slowly reintroducing them. From a very good raw State no pesticides used. My brother came alive. He listened. He understood. He's a wonderful cook now. Has a heart of gold. I love him so very much. Married. He and his girlfriend have methylation issues and choose not to have a child.
My own son doing very well. But also realizing in his adult age, his health is in his hand. And he must help himself so that he can be healthy.
You need to look into MTHFR. Please find beyond MTHFR dot com. I had to spell it like that cuz if I put the dot TH-cam won't post it. Cuz it will link it. I'm very censored. Cheers my dear and good luck. You can pull him out of that.

Everyday we learn something new on how to help our son.
They feelings they feel are real. I also do not think this is new, I think people are starting to become aware. Children with Autism are extremely intelligent they just lack communication the way we do. My son knew how to read since he was less than 2 but at the same time speaks in 3 word sentences, like “I need water”.

@Jason Muska hi kind person!💜. Actually, both my husband are on the spectrum as well, as per gets is now an outdated seldom used even in clinical setting but we weren’t diagnosed until everyone saw the signs over the past 20 yrs. our daughters are not on the spectrum. So 2/6 kids, both boys, and then hubby and I. It’s been an interesting 28 yrs let me tell you!
You are CORRECT! My therapist that sadly had to move out of the country last yr has two boys no other children, and both are asd.
And if you look on TH-cam there hate super helpful family videos etc that have more than one, sometime more on the spectrum depending on how many kids lol of course thay they have, and none are at exactly the same level. It’s somewhat fascinating. Super Difficult and a lot of tears etc especially during the teen yrs 12+ but I’m hoping, 🙏🏼& working as hard as I can to make my sons the best they can be. Thanks for you kind comment. Made my day.💜 I hope you’re well and coping as well as possible they this hard time we are all experiencing.💜

This was fantastic! Thank you Nathan, Mom, and all who gave permission for this to be recorded. He is an amazing young man! My son is also on the spectrum. He is extremely sensitive to touch, but I’m the only one who can touch him. He will come to me for hugs, an occasional back rub, and he will reach for my hand to hold when we’re in public. I do get a lot of “looks”, because my son is 13, 5’5, and 153lbs. People see us holding hands and don’t understand. I have learned to keep my chin up and walk on! My son is verbal, so we do have great communication. I’m learning as he gets older, I have a lot to work on with him. But I wouldn’t change a single hair on his head! I feel honored and blessed to have my boy; autism and all! He has shown me a world that I never knew existed. 💗

Dr Paul, please take up as much of his care as you can. Watching this video it’s obvious that this boy responds so well to you. You obviously have a natural feel for this young guy’s limitations and his triggers. Several times in this video it can be seen that he looks up at you, quite a pointer that this kid is responding to your interaction

Great video! As a mom to a 27 year old man with autism it brings back many memories of my son's younger years. One thing that I have learned is that my son's ears did not work when he was young -- talking to him did not register at all. My son learned everything through his eyes. When my son was 5 he had a speech therapist that started using sign language with him and I feel that was a HUGE key in getting my son to communicate. She suggested we put closed captioning on the tv so he could see the words. My son would watch VCR tapes -- and forward and reverse certain spots over and over. She told me not to worry because she thought he was learning language that way and she was right. In the beginning he would recite entire movies and it wasn't until he was 9 or so that he could have a small conversation with you. My son is also a very good reader. Anyway, I truly wonder if you incorporated a visual schedule of his visit if this would help him? A chart that showed each step of his appointment. (Example: 1. Shirt off (picture of shirt). 2. Sit down (picture of boy sitting). 3. Back (picture of hands on boys back), etc. etc. Then at each visit follow the routine and when successful add something new or offer him the choice of activities. (Ball or neck -- have him point to the card he wants). I'm probably not explaining very well and only making suggestions to help. With my son you would have to follow the schedule exactly as written because in his mind if it is in writing that is the only way it can be. Luckily my son has made many improvements over the years and I hardly remember the hard years now. But teaching my son to communicate is what helped him to stop screaming, biting, hitting, scratching, etc. I pray you can break through the walls and reach this young man because I think he would be a great zoologist!!!! He is a lucky little boy to have such a good team of people who care for him!!! Also want to add that swinging on a swing always (and still) calms my son down. Before visits to a doctor stopping at a park and letting him swing for 30 minutes helped him to be able to get more out of a visit because he was calm. Jumping on a trampoline helps too! Anyway, many blessings!!!

It's written by a severely affected boy on the spectrum. It gives us a glimpse from inside the mind of a person on the spectrum. The second book is about a neuroscientist whose son has ASD. Takes a lot of patience and calmness for them to display what they did here. I only ever had experience with an autistic child when I worked summer camp a couple years back. There was this five year old autistic boy I had in my group a few days. He wasn't as severe as this child here, but he had his moments. I had no prior experience beforehand however he seemed to adore me. I was very patient with him and it worked wonders. When he would start yelping loudly, I gave him light pats on the back and would say "shhh" and he would calm down. One day outside, he wouldn't leave the top of the slide. Eventually I decided to go up there and get him myself. I ended up carrying him to the classroom and he loved it. Cuddled right up to me. In the room for the next ten minutes, he was on my lap playing with my whistle and making train noises. Sometimes he would go out the door of the classroom. Lol. At one point,I had my door opened to watch the other children (with my volunteer helping doing that), and I rolled a car back and forth to him in the hallway. We made it a game and he was having a blast. Eventually , he was called to go home and even hugged me goodbye. That boy was one of the sweetest kids I met and I'm happy I had that experience. Other teachers there couldn't handle him so I was proud of myself for that.

@@katvtay what are u talking about? Just saying stop acting like we are pets and it’s so sad that we have autism

    • @katvtay

@@tildestenquist The OP didn’t do any of that. Not at all. The knee-jerk reactions, like the one you had, seem to be very common online, and they are misplaced. The OP did not speak for all cases of ASDs. Their takeaway for this one particular case is an understandable reaction. It has nothing to do with you or your experiences.

This brought tears to my eyes - it was like I was watching my own son. The love and patience shown by the therapist and by Dr. Paul is heartwarming. Thank you for sharing this.

My son has autism. Though he is quite verbal he suffered with sensory processing disorder that caused everything to be unbearable for him. With therapy and just plain ole growing up he seems to not be bothered so much by it anymore. Once you get "in" a childs mind...you will be blown away.

I am autistic myself, I have other learning disabilities and I really struggle in day to day life. I think something like this would really help me ❤ I survive on touch, I love being gently tickled and hugged. I haven't had it in such a long time 😔

I just gotta say. I don't have children with autism but I'm crying so hard right now at the joy this little guy is expressing and the pure love on Dr. Paul's face for him. I'm so happy that you are back practicing again and helping all the children and their parents. Love you Dr. Paul!

Human touch can work miracles in all of sentient life. This video shows how touch and a calm patience can be so utterly humanizing. So many 'professional ' individuals are all to eager to medicate instead of actually communicate with the patient.
