The guy you said had a strong voice (3:24) is Kyungsoo (D.O.). In the killing voice, he was the guy second from the left with the black shirt and white trousers. Growl is known as Korea's national anthem... This was the first one take MV Exo made and started the one take trend in kpop. With this song they also started the trend of school uniforms for kpop Idols... Yes Exo are trend setters since the start. Exo's main dancer Kai started the trend of crop top and Baekhyun started the trend of face chain in kpop.

Just to clarify, although EXO popularized one-take videos, they weren't the first Kpop group to do it. EXO's "Growl" video was released in 2013, but there were other Kpop groups who had one take MVs way before EXO. Super Junior was the very first to do it with their song "It's You" in 2009 and BigBang used one-take in their "Love Song" MV in 2011.
Also, EXO may have been one of the first to make school uniforms popular for boy groups, but I don't think they were the first to wear them in their MV. The members of Beast wore school uniforms in their "I like you the best" MV in 2010. Plus, girl groups have been wearing school uniforms since the very beginning of the Kpop industry, starting with Fin.K.L in 1998. Because school uniforms are required at most, if not all schools in South Korea, its common to see Idols wearing school uniforms in their MVs that have student or school themes. EXO just made it fashionable by wearing them in a video with a concept that wasn't specifically school based.

I don't think there is ANY idol that hasn't performed this choreo at some point in their career, or done a cover of this song. There wasn't a single soul in South Korea 10 years ago when this bad boy dropped and blew up, that didn't know this song, backwards and forwards. Everyone, old and young knew Growl.

this saved the 12 years sales drought of kpop. this is also sk’s second national anthem. and with 2nd gen almost ending, exo paved the way for 3rd gen groups to open and inspired a lot of concepts for future groups
A lot of EXO's discography hearkens back to old school RnB and pop, in the likes of Michael Jackson, Boyz II Men, Backstreet Boys. I used to think songs like Growl and Call Me Baby would not be weird if a Western boy band did it lol
As you discovered, the performance version of EXO's "Growl" is a one take video, which means that it was shot all in one take without any cuts or edits. However, although it is a one take video, this does not mean they used the very first take, it just means that every time anyone made a mistake, they had to start all over again from the very beginning. While filming the one take MV they had to dance the choreography about 7 times and this was the take the director and producer decided to use. They actually danced this choreography for the filming of this MV until they physically could not do it anymore.
But not even this take was technically "perfect." If you notice, Kai (EXO's main dancer) drops the hat in the middle of the dance in the Korean version and he smoothly bends down and picks it up. (The stealing of the hat is actually part of the choreography.) As you saw, Kai needed the hat at the end. But because it was done so effortlessly that most people don't even notice the mistake, or assume it's just part of the choreography, the director and editors decided to use this footage anyway.
And if you watch the Mandarin version, if you look closely, you will see Suho (EXO's leader) steps on Sehun's foot and Sehun (EXO's youngest member, a main rapper and dancer) swats him as if to say, "hey, watch out.". :D.
In the beginning of the performance MV, you start out by seeing 6 of the members, and as the camera spins around, you see the other 6 members. In the Korean version, you see the EXO-K (Korean) members featured first in the two groups. and if you watch the EXO-M (Mandarin Chinese) version, you will see the EXO-M members featured more prominently. (Anything that takes place before 2014, you will see all 12 members involved.)
However, what is even more impressive about "Growl", is the fact that they filmed 4 versions of the "Growl" MV, so not only did they have to perfect the dance in the Korean performance version, but they also had to do it again in the Mandarin version and then again in both the 2nd MV versions. And it wasn't like they could use the same footage, because the Korean and Mandarin versions aren't exactly the same -- the EXO-M and EXO-K members had different parts in each of the MVs -- so that just adds another element to this.
EXO actually filmed 5 different videos for the song "Growl." There is still one more video that was released as part of their "Wolf" and "Growl" promotions. There is a drama video that combines their two songs "Growl" and "Wolf" and it's like a mini K-drama that is more like a movie or TV show with a complete story and the members playing characters. If you notice, the camera movements are actually part of the choreography, because the camera is another character in the performance. The camera is supposed to represent the girl that they are singing to. So that is why they are looking at the camera so intensely because they are trying to get the girl's attention. They are each trying to impress her with their moves.
If you look up the lyrics for "Growl," you will see they are pretty much acting like a wolf or beast that can no longer control themselves around the girl, and they are warning her to be careful because all she does is make them want to growl and grab her and possess her, etc. "I’m warning you just in case (listen carefully)

Some believe that the "girl" that EXO is always singing about and you sometimes see in their MVs is a manifestation of the heart of the Tree of Life and that is why the members are always rescuing or protecting the girl, etc. And why all their songs are about being in love with a girl or being controlled by the power of the girl, such as in their song "Overdose" for example. Or how they talk about knowing they are bad news for the girl but they want her anyway and they can't help it, but in the end, they know they might destroy her -- as they say in the lyrics of their song "Monster," etc., etc. When you think of the girl as the heart of the Tree of Life the mystery begins to unfold even more.
EXO got so good at this choreography that they were able to perform the whole thing live on award shows and music programs just like they did in the MV, all while singing live as well. "Growl" and their one take performance is what launched EXO into superstardom and it's what made them the most popular group in Korea. It's one of the reasons why the government has given EXO the title of Korea's national boy group.
However, "Growl" came out in 2013, about a year after EXO debuted, and up until that point EXO wasn't very well known or popular. When they first debuted, many people called them "SM's biggest mistake." Because the concept of them being aliens from Planet Exo and the fact that they were designed specifically to debut in both Korea and China and several foreign Chinese members were chosen specifically to make up their own sub-unit, etc., many people had a hard time understanding how EXO would ever be successful. The group started out being branded as SM's first failure, and they thought Lee SooMan (the founder of SM) was crazy for coming up with the group.
But when the one take video for "Growl" was released, everyone began to take notice. This video was pretty groundbreaking, no group had done a one take video quite like this and it proved to the mainstream audiences that SM really did know what they were doing. Now everyone in Korea and around the world knows EXO and they have become one of the most popular groups that are one of the biggest money-makers for SM. "Growl" has become what they are most known for.
"Growl" is nicknamed South Korea's second national anthem, so you may start to notice that you hear it used everywhere. It's played all over the place and is used as background music, etc. in a lot of things.
EXO even performed this song, along with their song "Power," at the closing ceremonies of the Winter Olympics in 2018, and both songs were Olympic theme songs that could be heard at venues and events throughout the games that year. EXO was the only Kpop group to be asked to perform at the Olympics that year, which just goes to show you how influential and popular they have become.
It's really not that helpful for you to keep dumping all of this info under videos of reactors just dicovering EXO. It's too much info all at once and you keep repeating the same stuff under everyone's video. I understand you're trying to inform people but there has to be a way you can say what you want them to know without overloading them with all of this info to soak up all at once. The rector isn't the only one who reads comments. Therefore, I don't just write comments for the person who created the video, I write them so that if someone who wants to know more about EXO happens to see my comment, they might gain a little more information. As you can see a lot of OTHER people also read comments. I have even had people tell me that they have stumbled across my comment on a reaction even years later, after they have gotten to know EXO and I have helped them understand an aspect of something to do with the video or the group that they hadn't thought about or understood. Therefore, my comments are just fine. When should I post a comment like this? Three years down the line on a video that has nothing to do with "Growl"? The time to comment about a video is when they react to the video. Plus, just because they may not understand everything at the moment, parts of what I say may be helpful for them to understand something in the future.

You'd be right, EXO, at their core, are RnB. They will experiment with different styles, genres, sounds and the like, but their core will always remain RnB. I think its why they are so well received, so well liked and why literally, there is NO SONG you'll be disappointed with. That goes for group music, sub units, solo albums SM Stations, and their OST's. They are true to their core, their concept and each other. Which I freakin love.
Lol, I see you counting the members. Currently, there are 9 members, Lay being in China and running a Agency of his own. In the beginning, when this was made, EXO was 12 members strong, which is why you see a few more and faces you don't know. Indeed, 3 left not long after this.

Some pretty good crisp & synchronized dancing, huh? Imagine doing this choreo about 7-8 times in a row to finally get this one-take MV. If you look carefully, you'll see a few mistakes. EXO also had to do the choreo several more times to capture another one-take MV for the Chinese Mandarin version of "Growl". EXO started with 12 members. Three Chinese members left early in EXO's history, leaving EXO with 9 members.
You only saw 7 in the Killing Voice performance because the two Main Dancers (Vocalists too) were missing. Kai is in the military right now doing his mandatory military service and Lay (only remaining Chinese member) hasn't been able to actively promote with EXO due to the political conflicts between China and South Korea. All the members have already served in the military with the exception of the youngest, Sehun. He's due to enlist probably by the end of this year.

EXO has always had an R& B feel to them. That's what the producers intended. They are the best vocalists in Kpop, and their voices are well suited to R&B. As you dig deeper into EXO, and their solo Projects, ( especially Baekhyun, whom I consider to be the best vocalist in kpop)You will see what they are made of. I would suggest Baekhyuns U. N Village, Betcha, Candy, or Bambi. You will be blown away by how well this man can sing. It will come as no surprise to you why they excell at R&B.

Great EXO reaction! Yeah EXO used to be 12 members split into two groups of 6 (EXO-K who sang songs in korean by all Korean members and EXO-M who sang the same songs in Mandarin by 4 Chinese members Lay included and 2 Korean members who were Chen and Xiumin) now they're down to 8 members
(9 including Lay but I think the writing is on the wall with that one especially lately but I will be OT9 always lol)

FYI:
2012 - EXO debuted as 12 Members.
2013 - Wolf and Growl were born and that's the start of the successful career.
2014 - Two Chinese Members Left. The dark era but still EXO got lots of achievements and awards that year.
2015 - The Youngest Chinese Member Left
Since then, EXO promoted as 9 members. LAY being the only Chinese member, who stayed.
2016 - in the middle of their world tour, Lay (Yixing) stopped promoting with the members due to political conflict bet Ch and Kr.
2017 - EXO started promoting as 8 members without Lay.
2018 - Tempo Era, lay participated in the album and had a small appearance in the MV. However, only 8 members promoted the album.
2019 - Minseok (Xiumin) and Kyungsoo (D.O.) entered the military.
2020 - Junmyeon (Suho) and Jongdae (Chen) followed and fulfilling their duties as well.
2021 - Same for Don't Fight The Feeling Album, Lay participated too. An album dedicated for EXO-L. Six (6) members were only active during this comeback.)
2021 - Baekhyun and Chanyeol also entered in military.
2022 - Yixing decided not to renew his contract with SM, EXO's Label Company.

So, even though he's in Let Me In MV & Hear Me Out MV, he wasn't able to paricipate in their Cream Soda Video because of the date of his military entry and sched of shooting the MV.
If you waych Growl Chinese vs. You'll see that different members sing different parts. In the first few years they would always do this so its worth listening to both versions

I'm glad you guys react to this song! This is their legendary song that made me become an EXO-L since 2013. In the GROWL era, no one asked, "Which K-pop group do you like?" but they asked to each other, "Which of the exo members is your most fav?". They were so famous at that time and could break the million-sale records in 12 years in 2013 (and Baekhyun, one of the members, became the first million-sale solo artist in 19 years in 2021).
Unfortunately, even though all the members are still active but their company did not promote them well.
