From 72 to 75 I was a Plane Captain with VA22. In this clip air craft 305 looks like it was being recovered. If the date is correct Danny Schultz would have been it’s Plane Captain! He was an awesome shipmate and good friend. He was killed in 76 in a motorcycle accident. It’s cool that this stuff exist 50 years later. Thanks for sharing.

Hey Gday guys I live in Australia and the USS Coral Sea must of Docked in perhaps Fremantle Harbour back in the day. My Mother in-law RIP was one of many ladies who liked to date the US 🇺🇸 marines and their Salors. As she has a Zippo lighter and a pick of the Aircraft Carrier. It’s a beautiful lighter and no doubt was a token reminder of a good old fashioned night out. Bless her bless The USS CORAL SEA 43 ❤️❤️ Any survivors who no longer have their Zippo lighter I’d be proud to send the lighter home. ❤️🇺🇸🇦🇺👍

My dad, Michael McMahon was on this, but I don't know when he served. I think he was a F-4 mechanic. I never wanted the government to legally drown me, so I went infantry. 😁

the naval carrier borne F-14D Tomcat (Block III) maritime multi role fighter interceptor is still a viable piece of kit even in the age of stealth & sensor fusion . . . with some serious upgrades the carrier borne F-14D can still serve a navy for a good 13 - 18 yrs . . . only question is whether the cost of upgrading & reinstating the carrier borne F-14D Tomcat (Block III) maritime multi role fighter interceptor outweighs the benefits of modern day naval warfare in 2023 & following years thereafter . . . same can be said about the naval carrier borne A-6B Intruder (Block IV) maritime multi role ground attack fighter, another legendary navalized fighter jet . . . the rationale behind not equipping the carrier borne A-6B Intruder (Block IV) maritime multi role ground attack fighter with a 20 MM - 30 MM is surprising . . . a ground attack fighter has to have an internal cannon regardless of whether it's dedicated naval airframe or conventional air force . . .
