Boy Those Old Carriers Sure Used To Smoke A Lot!!! But I Love Them And Would've Loved To Serve On One! I Was An ABH3 Aboard The USS Dwight D. Eisenhower (CVN-69) From 1980 - 1984. I Remember When The Coral Sea Was Moored Next To Us At Pier 12 In Norfolk, VA! And I Couldn't Believe How Much Smaller She Was To Us! We Could Actually Look Down At Her From Our Flight Deck! Although She Only Had 2 Forward Cats, She Could Launch As Many Planes As We Did With 4!!! ⚓
I did the 68-69 cruise aboard her with VA-52(AO2) and I was up on the flight deck every minute of it. I remember the Air Boss announcing the landing of the "Big Mother" like it was yesterday! When were you aboard?
My dad was on the coral sea during this time towards the end of his 34 yrs military, I THINK VAW116
Excellent work! My father was on this carrier. Much gratitude!
Superb! Certainly no autofocus, and probably no autoexposure either? , These are spot on!

This is wonderful and brings back a lot of memories. I was on both of these cruises. I was the nightly news caster on the ship's television station.
I was a yellow shirt on CVA- 34 the Oriskany 66 and 67, lots of flight deck memories.
Great video! I was looking for my dad. He was a Catapult Officer on that tour.
If that was not your dad I worked with on the bow, your dad would have known who it was.
@@FleetAngelCVA43 my dad was Gary Helmers. Does that ring a bell?
I was on this tour with VAW 13 Det 43.
