My best friend Tenzin was from Tibet. Dinners with her lovely family were some of my favorite childhood memories! My young mind was amazed to see how different the food was from what I was used to! It was amazing to learn about the variety of the dishes, and the different flavors! My mom says I would want to go over there every night for dinner. Now as an adult, so many Tibetan dishes are pure comfort food for me. I’m so thankful for that influence as a child.

This is the best way to learn about and eat authentic food - at someone’s home. While I was in South Korea, I was invited (and others) into a Korean home, and they prepared a feast. One of my best food memories ever.
Tibet is richly spiritual and it quite exciting to be able to experience the local side of the culture and of course there is NOTHING wrong with having 10 different tasty home cooked dishes! The best thing I love about you is that you don't waste food. You CLEAN THAT PLATE! So do I! 😂

In Alaskan Native communities that is commonly practiced too, to hold elders in high honour and respect, and to call them uncles and aunties. Love it!

Without meats and fat you can’t survive in high altitudes. Mostly , Tibetan people believe eating big animals which provides lot of meat also fulfilled many people stomachs and losing one life . Small animals like a chicken and seafood won’t work. Lots of life in one dishes. I love Tibet.
Musroom,cheese,milk,curd,butter are also like a meat.only meat is not good for health.lots of people in the world are eating veg and fruits items.ordinary peoples can eat meat items but buddhist monks and nuns should be pureveg and live simple life without violence.this is real buddhism.
I have been blessed to travel to China twice. Beautiful people, kind, loving. We went to Shangrila to a monastery and saw their beautiful garden of vegetables. At a family's home we had tea, one with yak milk and one plain. It was hot and SALTY. Small pieces of yak cheese, again SALTY! We enjoyed so richly the friendly family with 3 little children. The large house had the animals on the first level. The 2nd level was the family. Not much furnishing but they had a large flat screen TV. The children were so excited to share with us. For school they travel a long way and stay for week and home on weekend. State run school.

Without meats and fat you can’t survive in high altitudes. Mostly , Tibetan people believe eating big animals which provides lot of meat also fulfilled many people stomachs and losing one life . Small animals like a chicken and seafood won’t work. Lots of life in one dishes. I love Tibet.

Musroom,cheese,milk,curd,butter are also like a meat.only meat is not good for health.lots of people in the world are eating veg and fruits items.ordinary peoples can eat meat items but buddhist monks and nuns should be pureveg and live simple life without violence.this is real buddhism.

With little plant life surviving that altitude, you need meat to survive. There are nutrients in meat that is absent on plants.

I have been blessed to travel to China twice. Beautiful people, kind, loving. We went to Shangrila to a monastery and saw their beautiful garden of vegetables.
At a family's home we had tea, one with yak milk and one plain.
It was hot and SALTY. Small pieces of yak cheese, again SALTY! We enjoyed so richly the friendly family with 3 little children. The large house had the animals on the first level. The 2nd level was the family. Not much furnishing but they had a large flat screen TV. The children were so excited to share with us. For school they travel a long way and stay for week and home on weekend. State run school.
