Just in time for the release of Darktide lmfao. Wanted this out last week but editing complications/life got in the way. More V2/Darktide and FH content on it's way!
As a slayer main, the F key is linked DIRECTLY to the ancestor gods (the communal singular slayer braincell) and clicking it is required for continued play.
The mind of a slayer is to die glorious in combat, and the f key is the game telling you to jump in and finish your slayer vow, sadly you kill all the skaven slaves before they could kill you leaving you deathless and waiting for the nearest patrol to finish you off (god i love playing slayer).
You forgot to mention, whenever you want to share your ammo with your teammates, shoot them in the back to replenish their ammo. Kerrillian is real good with that.
Its not as fleshed out as the Tolkien Languages. If GW was smart and worth any money they would hire people to invent the language with the tools that they have, but they never will because they're lazy and shite.
Kruber isn’t wrong when he says the Chaos Wastes were formed by frogs. There’s literally a race of giant space frogs called the Old Ones that accidentally let Chaos into the material world at the poles, creating the Chaos Wastes. They left behind the Lizardmen, Aztec themed dinosaurs who ride other dinosaurs, who are basically Chaos-killing death robots, and their pyramids are actually spaceships.

“Combat is simple.” God I wish that was as true as it looks. Combos, block cancels, attack modifiers on armor piercing/cleave/damage maintained through a cleave/etc, stagger values, armor piercing and which attacks in a chain can do it. Vermintide has a simple combat system at first but man does it go deep.
Ey either approach works, you can data mine the entire game to find the best method in clearing out hordes or you can go full caveman and charge attacking everything that moves.

Something extra about blocking, direction does matter. Attacks from the rear do drain twice the amount of stamina compared to blocking from the front, along with there being an internal timer for dodges. You can't infinitely dodge either and the amount of full-strength dodges you have depends on your weapon, the timer can be reset by simply not dodging for a brief moment. Same rules apply to Darktide as well.

The biggest tip I can give new players looking to push into higher difficulties is how important it is to learn defense. Sure it is absurdly fun to just swing away at hordes and watch the bodies drop, but without a stable foundation in being able to dodge and block you will not be able to get past champion. To help that it's best to watch yt videos from people like The Party Knife, JTC live, wet magic, and many others. But I'll give the best advice I can here. The reason defense is important is you are infinitely more useful to your team alive and doing no damage than trying to do some damage and dying, this is especially important in stressful situations, such as when a horde comes at the same time as a monster and specials,l and your team gets separated and starts dying. Too often am I in this situation where my teammates will panic and start trying to do everything they can to kill anything they can, only to end up getting downed. It is almost always better in this situation to just hold block and dodge with whatever room you have to keep yourself alive until your team can get some control of the situation again. As for how you can increase your effectiveness in that regard, lets looks at the two primary points of defense, dodging and blocking. Blocking is the staple of defense, as mentioned in the video is will guarantee all melee hits from any angle do not damage you as long as you have stamina. However, taking a hit from the front uses less stamina that a hit from the back, keep that in mind. Do not be afraid to use block often, even if you have the slightest hint of a thought that something might be about to hit you, or you hear a very silent chitter of something behind you, put up block and check. You will especially take less random hits from a single slave rat that snuck up behind you if you learn to block often, learning to check your back frequently also helps with that. Blocking during combat is a complex topic as there's a lot of different situation and enemy compositions that require different reactions. However the general best tip is again to not be afraid yo use block, if you are about to take a hit from an enemy, don't bank on staggering them with your own hit as a lot of enemies can't be staggered in certain animations, and sometimes you'll take the hit even if you do stagger them. In that case again just throw up your block, make sure you are clear to retaliate, and then kill them. Dodging: to begin, all weapons have their own effective dodge count and dodge range. Dodge range is how far your dodge carrys you with that weapon. Dodge count means that every dodge up to and equal to that amount, with less than two seconds between, will be the full range of your dodge, and every dodge after that will carry you less and less distance. The best way to reset your dodge count is just to wait two seconds without dodging and it will reset. Dodges are as if not more important than blocking in my opinion. Being able to dodge well will allow you to avoid damage and stay relatively safe without sacrificing damage. To start, always keep your dodge count in mind, on most weapons it is two to three, so just bank on every few dodges wait at least two seconds before dodging again or you main not dodge as far as you intended to and take a hit. Next is somewhat contradictory to what I just said, but don't be afraid yo dodge as often as possible, as long as you are not running your dodge count dry or are dodging back into attacks you just dodged it is almost always better to be dodging and moving than just walking while attacking. Obviously you should spam dodge as often as possible but as long as you are keeping track of the enemies attacks to make sure you aren't just dodging out of one attack into another it is almost always better yo be dodging. As for specific situations, we'll look at just dodging hordes for now as specials and monsters are a whole other topic. For hordes, try to always dodge sideways if space allows, when there is a large number of enemies there will often times be enemies to will perform running attacks through a horde that you cannot back dodge from, side dodging will avoid almost all attacks that basic horde enemies can throw at you. Additionally, hordes are best dodged moving sideways, back dodges can work occasionally but will often still get caught by an enemies running attack. The most effective way to dodge a horde is to dodge to one side and control that side, then dodge to the other side and control the other side. This prevents enemies from wrapping around behind you and will reset the aggro of the enemies making them less likely to attack you in the first place, as well as avoiding most attacks that are thrown your way. This is a fairly situational tactic as it is less effective if the horde is composed of heavier armored enemies or you are fighting in an area where you don't have space to move or enemies are coming from all direction. Overall those are some very basic ideas of how I approach defense, there's a ton of situations and enemy compositions you can find yourselves in that the ideas and strategies I mentioned won't work but I've found in the general gameplay those strategies are very effective. If you have questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer. If you think I have bad advice or would like me to change and idea I mentioned also please tell me and I'd gladly consider changing it. Tl:Dr do not be afraid to dodge or block, both are essential to allowing you to survive and safely put out damage, and should be used as often as any other key feature in the game such as attacking or walking.
Hey, just thanking you for this comment 5 months later. Been trying to up my game recently. I'm currently looking to get every single tome and grim in every level and then after i'l move up a difficulty and do the whole game in it, then move up again. Currently beat all but the final level in veteran and i'm a foot Knight main mostly, but i'm grinding Kerilian recently as well.
@@dumblenutz5561 I'm glad I was able to help. I honestly forgot I even wrote this 3 page essay on defense but glad someone got use out of it lol. I still play this game regularly and am glad new people are getting into it!
Few things: Zoomers can start a revive then ult to get to a safer position (really good for clutching/saving a run) Heal Share at lvl 5 is decent for Chaos Wastes, as 1 healing item can heal your whole party, but only 1 player needs it Examine weapons to see what the damage, cleave, armor penetration, attack speed and stagger values are, and how they change with heavy attacks Weapon descriptions will tell you at a glance of what they are best used for If you are playing with bots, SET BARDIN TO IRONBREAKER (he will not die, and you can pretty much not have to care about him) There are some good Official mods that make QoL improvements that can be found in the steam workshop, check it out
Each weapon actually has an effective block angle which can be modified by stats. Blocking outside of this angle increases the stamina cost of the block. You can see the angle by looking at the stamina shield icon on the weapon; the highlighted, silver angle on the shield icon denotes it's base angle, unmodified by stats.
If your ever interesting in playing the lore accurate rattling gun build with bardin. Take the trinket that has the chance to give you the effect of all potions for halve of the duration. Combine that with the ability to immediately shoot at the highest speed, and you’ve got yourself a monster killer bardin
Hey great video dude, perfect for those who want to give vermintide 2 a go, and maybe show those who negatively reviewd the game a better look at the game. I honestly really love vermintide 2, it's just close to perfect in my eyes, it's just so fun, and the combat system is probably one of the best I've seen in an fps game, I'm a veteran at vt2.
For advice, definitely rebind your dodge key (this goes for Darktide also). There's nothing worse than trying to dodge an overhead hit from a mauler and jumping on the spot. I rebind my dodge to shift, personally. Also, Always Be Defensive. Specials don't spawn only during horde events, so listen out for their callouts. The Blightstormer in particular, can teleport far away but will typically remain within line of sight before giving you the nurgly-swirly. All specials should always be top priorities. Always be dodging in combat, it's better to dodge a hit at no penalty than lose stamina that you'll need to push. And lastly, many bosses (but in particular the Rat Ogre) can easily be tanked by a single hero. If a horde or gang of specials arrive while you're fighting a boss, have one player focus on controlling the Boss while the rest of the group deals with the other threats. It's rare for a boss alone to wipe the party, it's when everyone else shows up uninvited that will cause trouble. And lastly, don't play too much, you'll get RSI.
It was amazing to see all of my older memes, including some seriously obscure stuff I dropped in the meme folder like "pog magic.mp3", make it into the video. I appreciate such generous use of my memes! I need to clarify that not all of them were made by me, over time I just started to dump everything I found in there (nodding Bardin, complaining Sienna etc.) On the video side of things, I'm happy that you included a ton of QoL info in it like keybinds, social wheel commands, special attack etc. As a fellow video edit I like that you made sure to have clear-cut visuals for everything you wanted to explain. And as someone who's been watching your videos for years thanks to For Honor - what an unexpected way for our paths to cross. Have fun with Vermintide and even more with Darktide!

Markus “i heard it was frogs really big frogs.” Is it weird he is not wrong about that theory about the origins of the chaos wastes, the old ones kinda were the cause of its creation.
I recently discovered Janfon1 when I started playing Vermintide 2 a few weeks ago. I particularly enjoyed the videos where Victor Saltzpyre dabbed on the elf for Sigmar with his glorious inspect animation and where Kruber reacted to the Darktide trailer.
17:10 Update, now it's a Necromancer. She can still use fire magic, but it's cyan colored now and she has access to a staff that can S U C C the life out of the enemies while infinitely staggering them. Her ability is to conjure 6 skelly boys and she has a gadget on the 4th slot that can use to give orders to the skeletons. She can still carry potions / grimoire in the 4th slot, it works just like Engineer Dwarf can carry 3 bombs on the 5th slot
A piece of advice I would give to newer players is during a horde, make the rats climb up to get to you if possible. You can just stand and chop them up pretty easily, at least for a bit. Also, don’t let yourself get surrounded, as sometimes it can be better to have a wall to your back rather then a giant rat wanting to turn you into a shish-kabob. Oh, and some advice a really good player gave me is to doge wail attacking and never just stand still spamming attack. Though to be honest, I have yet to beat anything above veteran (I might have once, I can’t remember), so ya, not at all an expert here.😋
I really appreciate how you actually researched the stuff before making a review. Many of the reviews I've seen just assume stuff, and try and fail horribly to explain mechanics like wounds.
I played and i like Darktide but i miss already Vermintide 2 awesome fantasy atmosphere and best 5 characters, they are so epic and funny together. I hope Fatshark wont forget Vermintide 2, we don't have much nextgen fantasy fpmelee/fps like that :) I replayed Horn of Magnus (Vermintide 2 remake of the map) with the WHC with people after i played Darktide a bit, i had a tear, it was how i played Vermintide 1 for the first time :) I thought it was a solo shooter but it was MUCH deeper than that ;) A Vermintide 3 based on Vermintide 2 stuff, new engine, graphisms and new mecanics like in Darktide, could be HYPE but not sure if its needed, Vermintide 2 has so much stuff and cool mods!
Since I'm waiting for the console port of Darktide I went with Vermintide 2 and it has been fun, that block while reviving I had no clue and this video was great
Im newer to warhammer, but know way more now than then. I feel so INCREDIBLELY BAD, for all those people who were involved with fantasy during that time, when endtimes came out. They ripped out and short cut so much stuff. End times left a bad taste in MANY fans mouth. But Vermitide is by far the best thing to come out if it. Kurber isn't wrong about frogs either. I highly recommend looking up LizardMen lore.
I bought vermintide 2 like a year ago and barely played it, partly because it all seemed too complex to me. this video is very helpful in explaining things and it might just make me pick up rat exterminator 2 again. thanks marco!
17:36, that talent clears wounds as well, so if you have natural bond (regen) - on lets say the IB - to offset the missing thp, you can clear a whole teams worth of wounds with a single heal
My favorite part of the game is how if you are above 30% HP or somewhere around there, the characters shit on you for drinking a potion and wasting it 😂
I hope darktide is this awesome. I have a few high level characters, and I’m hoping they make that game as fleshed out as vermintide. Looks like vermintide is an awesome game!
@@narsheguard6417 Yeah, I did it a whole bunch. It was initially a matter of panic but turned into an amazing tech. Hope it didn't get patched out since I last commented.
I still remember when I played Warhammer for the first time....when I rolled my character, I had a choice between a Dwarven Explorer.....or a DWARVEN SLAYER. And I fucking LAUGHED when they had a disclaimer that said "if you pick this, you are GOING TO DIE BECAUSE YOU WANT TO DIE TO ATTEMPT TO RECLAIM GLORY WARN YOUR DM". I love this universe.
Tip for new players- level up kerilloan enough for her passive heal to affect the whole party. Also saltzspire for his 4th class smite to heal the party when he kills enemies.
As a Zealot Main, I usually use the Temp HP Strat and it works quite well for me, it's very common for me to have the highest Melee Kills in every game because I just charge directly into hordes and spam light attack to mow them down in seconds, especially fun when I stack Zealot's Ultimate with Swift Slaying and Speed Potion, if you ever think Hordes are taking too long to clear just play Zealot and you're guaranteed to delete a Horde before your Team can even process it :D
When Kruber said that the chaos wastes came into existence because of big frogs, he is not wrong since the slann priests are just big frogs and toads in floating mobility scooters.
After for honor felt shit for me, I switched to VT2, had it since one time they had it for free but havent played it after getting it, so I figured I might give it a shot, seemed fun. Here I am around two or so years later with 1.4k hours still not bored of the game. One thing Id like to do is get into modded difficulties, since legend and cata arent that much of a challenge anymore, but they are still fun to play. On another note, your discord invite link might be broken, mind putting up a new one?

I'm currently looking to get every single tome and grim in every level and then after i'l move up a difficulty and do the whole game in it, then move up again. Currently beat all but the final level in veteran and i'm a foot Knight main mostly, but i'm grinding Kerilian recently as well.
@@dumblenutz5561 I'm glad I was able to help. I honestly forgot I even wrote this 3 page essay on defense but glad someone got use out of it lol. I still play this game regularly and am glad new people are getting into it!
Mate its a valuable post! Noob here that read it and will try to bring it to practisr
Glad to see Jerma simulator is still getting love, this game deserves it. I love the cast, they all sound like they had fun voicing these characters.
Few things:
Zoomers can start a revive then ult to get to a safer position (really good for clutching/saving a run)
Heal Share at lvl 5 is decent for Chaos Wastes, as 1 healing item can heal your whole party, but only 1 player needs it
Examine weapons to see what the damage, cleave, armor penetration, attack speed and stagger values are, and how they change with heavy attacks
Weapon descriptions will tell you at a glance of what they are best used for
If you are playing with bots, SET BARDIN TO IRONBREAKER (he will not die, and you can pretty much not have to care about him)
There are some good Official mods that make QoL improvements that can be found in the steam workshop, check it out
Other tips for the end : you can put "always highlight" in the menu for you friend to always have a green halo around them
Absolutely bomb of a video bro, I'm very glad to see more content for this game, specially with Darktide out there
I'm also waiting for Sienna's fourth career, yes Darktide is out but I just need that collection of classes to be completed
It’s so much fun to watch these styles of videos for games you know in and out. Also: Fat Magician 1 and 2 is the most lore accurate description ever!
And lastly, don't play too much, you'll get RSI.
thank you. this game was eyeing me in the PS+, imma play it now
It was amazing to see all of my older memes, including some seriously obscure stuff I dropped in the meme folder like "pog magic.mp3", make it into the video. I appreciate such generous use of my memes! I need to clarify that not all of them were made by me, over time I just started to dump everything I found in there (nodding Bardin, complaining Sienna etc.)
On the video side of things, I'm happy that you included a ton of QoL info in it like keybinds, social wheel commands, special attack etc. As a fellow video edit I like that you made sure to have clear-cut visuals for everything you wanted to explain.
And as someone who's been watching your videos for years thanks to For Honor - what an unexpected way for our paths to cross. Have fun with Vermintide and even more with Darktide!
oh and give sienna a glock
Oh shit its janfon
The legend himself is here
Holy shit I'm just seeing this now - glad you enjoyed the video I'm a huge fan of your stuff, meant a lot to see this comment!!
Now I gotta get going with DT content lol
@@MarcoYolo In case you need some memes for it, check my vermintide meme folder link in the YT bio again. It now has a new Darktide folder in it with content which is 90% not of my creation, but still worth checking out. Enjoy!
17:22 - NO! LOL but only if you have a team without any ranged weapons. I've died too many times being like "wtf happened?" oh, it's because 3 of us had no ranged weapons at all! LOL
Bruh, I once got locked out of the not sequenced Chaos Spawn as bounty hunter. The thing came from where we came and I somehow managed to solo it before it ever got into the locked territory. Adrenaline is a helluva drug
I launched for honor and it popped up under my browser so I thought this video had a long running bit of replaying the intro cinematic over and over again LMAO
Markus “i heard it was frogs really big frogs.”
Is it weird he is not wrong about that theory about the origins of the chaos wastes, the old ones kinda were the cause of its creation.
Just downloaded this game for free on PS Plus Extra and it is incredibly addicting. The banter between the characters is funny.
I recently discovered Janfon1 when I started playing Vermintide 2 a few weeks ago. I particularly enjoyed the videos where Victor Saltzpyre dabbed on the elf for Sigmar with his glorious inspect animation and where Kruber reacted to the Darktide trailer.
God damn it you’re making me redownload vermintide….my crusade will never end!
Dont take stadistics too seriously specially if there is a waystalker kerillian on your team, she will click her ulti and oneshot half the map
Elgi hands crafted this post.
Forgot to mention how despite being a seeking projectile it will still hit all of the team as well. Proof that she does it on purpose.
Though to be honest, I have yet to beat anything above veteran (I might have once, I can’t remember), so ya, not at all an expert here.😋
I was not expecting Vermintide to show up on a For Honor channel, not complaining though just funny as I left For Honor for it.
I hope Fatshark wont forget Vermintide 2, we don't have much nextgen fantasy fpmelee/fps like that :)
I replayed Horn of Magnus (Vermintide 2 remake of the map) with the WHC with people after i played Darktide a bit, i had a tear, it was how i played Vermintide 1 for the first time :)
I thought it was a solo shooter but it was MUCH deeper than that ;)
A Vermintide 3 based on Vermintide 2 stuff, new engine, graphisms and new mecanics like in Darktide, could be HYPE but not sure if its needed, Vermintide 2 has so much stuff and cool mods!
deeply miss the character depth and voice lines from VT2 compared to DT. For the Emperor but i miss my umgi's
They literally announced a new dlc a few days ago
Praise Sigmar! The holy warden of the vulkanic knight cult has has been graced by the hammer!
"nothing you do matters" all because of one vampire manchild destroying reality for no reason whatsoever
2:03 A Brandon Herrera meme, damn
nice coverage of this beautiful game, gonna be waiting darktide video
Since I'm waiting for the console port of Darktide I went with Vermintide 2 and it has been fun, that block while reviving I had no clue and this video was great
Hey just so you know we will have news on Darktide in a week or two at least according to a community manager
@@SirEggo2412 Thanks for the head's up!
Y’know, Age Of Sigmar is pretty great for a game constantly being shit on by non AoS players.
@@jacklucca2037 I heard it was good. Just from outsider perspective i can tell its to push minis🤷♂️
@@TacticalReaper56 It slaps.
@@TacticalReaper56 Only problem is that GW is against poor people.
@@jacklucca2037 Hell GW isn't just against poor people anymore, it's like they're against their own customers.
I love that you have the hit and run music in the background😂
Remember kids, the End Times is not canon if you don't want it to be
17:10 Now it’s spooky spooky skeletons
“Rat men don’t exist” then explain New York subways
Love seeing all the new people coming to Verm 2 after it went on sale and Darktide's release!
"don't prioritize the scoreboard"
counter point, big number = happy chemical
Bardin is my favorite character because I love making new players learn all the funny dwarf words to understand call outs.
Dear Imperial Citizens I assure you there are no giant rats living under the hive city waiting to kill us.
12:35 made me laugh and then I cry a wee bit.
I bought vermintide 2 like a year ago and barely played it, partly because it all seemed too complex to me. this video is very helpful in explaining things and it might just make me pick up rat exterminator 2 again. thanks marco!
Absolutely do it! If you're on Xbox I'd be happy to help you out!
i got it for free once a year ago and i juts discovered that its actually good
17:36, that talent clears wounds as well, so if you have natural bond (regen) - on lets say the IB - to offset the missing thp, you can clear a whole teams worth of wounds with a single heal
Excited to see you produce content on one of my Favourite games. Legendary Work
My favorite part of the game is how if you are above 30% HP or somewhere around there, the characters shit on you for drinking a potion and wasting it 😂
I hope darktide is this awesome. I have a few high level characters, and I’m hoping they make that game as fleshed out as vermintide. Looks like vermintide is an awesome game!
I love the Maplestory music.
2:24 the funny thing is... frogs really were part of the reason. Really big frogs.
Marco Yolo: "What idiot would do thaAat? 💅" XD
The grim can also be used as a insta kill item on small enemies.
Vermintide 2 is a gem in a sea of umgak
This was way better guide than I expected, wowzers.
15:33 you forgot to mention for the sister of thorn than she can block blightstorms with her walls. Super useful.
She can WHAT
@@narsheguard6417 Yeah, I did it a whole bunch.
Alcoholic dwarf got me lol. It’s his Go-go juice
4:15 We all did it too boyo, don't feel too bad
Tip for new players- level up kerilloan enough for her passive heal to affect the whole party. Also saltzspire for his 4th class smite to heal the party when he kills enemies.
Kerillian can talk my ear off and I wouldn’t care bc I’m in love with females with Irish and Scott accents 🥰 even if she’s yelling at me or not 🫠
Probably one of my favorite horde games
As a Zealot Main, I usually use the Temp HP Strat and it works quite well for me, it's very common for me to have the highest Melee Kills in every game because I just charge directly into hordes and spam light attack to mow them down in seconds, especially fun when I stack Zealot's Ultimate with Swift Slaying and Speed Potion, if you ever think Hordes are taking too long to clear just play Zealot and you're guaranteed to delete a Horde before your Team can even process it :D
I'm like 95% certain that the pyromancer was originally described as "meth head grandma". I was half asleep though so I could be wrong.
You might be thinking of Verac's review
And now, Sienna’s fourth career: RATTLE THEM BOYS!!!
When Kruber said that the chaos wastes came into existence because of big frogs, he is not wrong since the slann priests are just big frogs and toads in floating mobility scooters.
Here's a tip Marco forgot. Always farm green circles to let everyone know you're better at the game. Even if you have to throw the game to do so
Easy Satan.
Great vid! Loved watching it!
Another amazing video! Keep it up! Love this game so much
After for honor felt shit for me, I switched to VT2, had it since one time they had it for free but havent played it after getting it, so I figured I might give it a shot, seemed fun. Here I am around two or so years later with 1.4k hours still not bored of the game. One thing Id like to do is get into modded difficulties, since legend and cata arent that much of a challenge anymore, but they are still fun to play. On another note, your discord invite link might be broken, mind putting up a new one?
Bro that Grimoire toss 🤣I did the same thing nearing the end of the map 😳
So you got an Elven Ranger, Dwarven Warrior, Human Knight and Human Wizard fighting evil and saving the world. The classic High or Dark Fantasy Team.
"Fuck the meta"
Finally, a dawri of quality
14:33 aaaaaaahhh i'm groodginnnngg
Blood for the empire skulls for the golden thrown
The Frog one is funny because it's prolly a reference to Slann lmao.
Love THIS BUNCH OF INFORMATION!!! I feel smarterr and better now, time to delete some RATS! *Ghost-Rats sounds in the background*
The Sienna class is a meme that should've released like two years ago but I think they said it's coming this year.
you can technically flinch the crackheads by getting enough power vs berserkers/chaos/skaven
Idk why I watch videos like these knowing good and well I have +1000 hours in this game. I guess the mix of gameplay and memes is it lol
Best part of this game is that i don't have to think about roasting my enemys or shit talking my character does it for me
One of my main game. Had no idea you played it too.
the smash music was fucking me up for a sec thought my emulator was broken XD
The scoreboard was one of my favorite thigs.
heck yeah outcast engineer with the steam crank gun is the best shit for hordes :d
