I already knew I'd love the combat and mech customization on offer, but to hear you get excited about NG+ even if you don't want to spoil it get's me even more excited about the amount of replayability I'll be able to get out of it.
To be fair, this is something that happens in AC4A with NG+. You start the ORCA path and you change the ending not just once, but you can change it again with one more NG+ which has you facing the ULTIMATE boss challenge in AC - depending on the difficulty it's a 4v1 - your partner dies before he can do anything, so it's literally a 4v1, BUT. In Hard mode... It's a 5v1! The ultimately experience - 5 ACs trying to kill you and you needing to prove your worth.

god i missed armored core. I think the videos you should lean into for this series is like weapons or armor pieces you can miss and where to find them. then lean into finding lore pieces from there!
My biggest criticism is that the game needs a lot of attention on the PvP side. The PvP has a lot of potential, but it needs matchmaking and some maps need to just be removed (there shouldn't be any blank, flat arenas without cover).
And some minor balancing with the stun launcher direct hit adjustment, rifles need a tad more ideal range, zimmermans need a range reduction, and missile boats honestly need to be nerfed (potentially by reducing the stage heights)
@@sgtflamingo6532 I think most of the balance issues would be solved by simply increasing the amount of stagger needed before one becomes staggered and/or reducing the stagger duration by about 25%.
@@saintsword23 that's also potentially a good fix. I do think the stun needle launchers direct hit adjustment needs tuned down just a bit and missed boats are a nuisance if you're not running the NGI or Aorta generators for flight

It's pretty cool to hear you compare this to Sekiro in It's combat, because it just so happens that the developer who managed the combat system in Sekiro ALSO managed the combat in AC6 😊
This one of the best games ever in my book... I've preordered and didn't sleep playing it overnight till 8am on day one!! Never done that for any game before. (Except for Destiny 1)
I like to think I'm pretty good at Souls games and I've played EVERY single AC, it's disheartening for me that I simply cannot beat Balteus. I feel this - I was stuck on him yesterday, I'd say 40 tries and always getting him no past 40%. I kept experimenting with different builds, while slowly learning what works. Being hyper aggressive on him worked with a very tanky build. Bazooka RA, Sword LA, dual Energy missiles for back. Having the Kick is really nice and then combo it with a sword hit. Got on this morning and got him on my first attempt. Keep at it ! I had to grind replay missions for awhile to get a lot of parts for the build fyi. Test AC Kill mission was my go to, takes less than a minute for 70ishk credits, repeat.
To be honest, they should add extension parts to armoured core 6 so it abit easier for new players or even fans who may find this a bit hard. So extension parts you got in the ps2 game's it add countermeasure defence system to your mech so incoming missiles can be shot down with an array of countermeasure parts you can add and still use any 4 weapons.
There already is. What I think they should do is lower the boss health and damage. They massive bullet sponges that do too much damage. I can even count how many times I’ve gotten them to a sliver of health and then die because they fired me with everything they had.

Did new game plus reset your list of available replayable missions? ie. if you beat the game several times and choose all the different paths, would you then have every single mission option replayable to get every part via grinding?
Ever since Far Cry 2, I thought the idea of playing as a mercenary playing all sides of a conflict - depending on who is paying the most - to be an awesome framework for a game narrative. Particularly if you can choose when to be loyal or not. Not finshed with AC yet but keen to see where they take it.
This is exactly why I was one of those guys who was like "Sekiro cool, Dark Souls cool, Bloodborne cool, Elden Ring cool.....but where is my Armored Core at, that's the real reason I am here". I'm so glad after years and years of trying I don't have to still explain why Armored Core was so good anymore. That said, I don't feel like the movement is as good as For Answer. The energy weapons are too weak the cooler it is the worse it is sometimes, it's like they punish their own art designers for doing something great because if it looks cool and feels fun it can't also be really effective (looks at his Lightwave Cannon). If I had a major issue thougb is that too much of the game revolves around stagger now, it gets to a point where weapons become useless if they aren't doing a significant amount of impact damage (again, making energy weapons crappier). I hope in future iterations more aspects of damage become much more useful to let us make use of all weapons in all fights, and not have to be pigeon holed into high impact weapons to pass thru boss checks that gate further progress. There is no time I've seen where any low impact weapon is really good against major bosses.
This is my first AC game. Back with the earlier games I was far too young to understand them and everything felt clunky to me. Now that I'm much older, I absolutely love this game. It's got me interested in trying out the old ones just to see what they were like. Though I'm worried they probably didn't age well and I won't like them after loving AC6.
@@durrik NG+ isn't any harder its actually much easier. You don't lvl up in AC 6 so the enemies don't either your first playthrough is the hardest its going to get. Mostly due to you unlocking lots of parts and having different weapons at your disposal plus all the OS Tuning points from the arena. My 2nd playthrough took roughly 4 hours vs 16 hours for my first playthrough.
@@bobbyvandyke143 I had heard missions are different, by the third playthrough; in missions where you fought one AC in your first playthrough, it's a 1v2 or even a 1v3.
I played through the game 4 times and im still enjoying it. Theres only 3 endingsind you. Just diffrent builds and paint jobs and what not. I wish the game had a mode like old AC games from PS2 where i couod set up FFA matches or 2v2 with the ACs from the arena.
What I didn't expect from this video: coming out of it wanting to play Sekiro There *is* a twist in the arena as alluded to early on - but you don't really hit it until the *third* playthrough
Lovely well-paced review! I'd just like to know regarding NG+, since you are instantly sent to NG+ after the credits. Are there any missable things in NG, i.e. should I try and do every side mission before tackling the final one?
It took me about 50 hours to complete , but I didn’t run to the finish i really took my times , the first mission I refused to use the check point so I could really get the mechanics down also I replayed all the missions and arena stuff over and over, but it does take me a really long time to beat most FROMSOFTWARE games , “Elden ring” maybe 200hours first play through “sekiro” not sure but definitely a long ass time 😂
the thing you said about hidden loot, was still in armored core 1 PS1, mission blow up fuel depot, no dont blow it up, go look behind 50 barrels, find loot, if you follow mission loot destroyed for ever, would have to replay through,
another was a sort of cheat, but it disabled weight limits on legs, would have to die 6 times in a row with over 60000 in debt to a mission after payment, basically waste ammo on a cheap mission and die before it ends, then u can use fast high jumping legs with heavy gear, was the only way to finish the final level
I had no idea exploration was in this game and that makes me so much more excited for and I love how multiple play throughs are required to unlock everything. The game trades end game and extensive boring missions for replay ability for those that want to make certain builds. I see the reason behind it. I love I can play the game and play with customization but if I truly love the game I can spend hours farming and searching for elusive gear to complete builds.....kinda like darksouls did right?
Hey just to let you know to get a S ranks it's based on time, ammo cost, and repair cost. So you have to be very efficient and cost effective it's not clear what the exact clear conditions are you kinda just have to try until you figure it out.
Love the game just wish you could tune like AC4A. But this is a good balance between 5 and 4. Minus the fact the fact your a augmented human and not a neural link
The game is super fun and fast with all the familiarity of the from software engine. I played my 1st play through with an extremely aggressive build. Spring chicken legs let u carry heavy loads and Dual wielding with long range shotguns to stagger, plasma vertical launchers to track and occasionally the songbirds. Chapter 5 was intense in a good way. Onto my NG+1 along with more tuning chips. The game just gets more interesting and as you become more powerful you feel like a God. Cheers @domsroundtable
The Moonlight is *NOT* a Dark Souls reference. It's a Kings Field reference and every single Armored Core has had the Moonlight, long before Souls existed.
Yes, I think that their other games do have outstanding lore, but it can also be completely ignored because of the way the story works and although this can be a good thing it can be a bad thing either, it is exactly because they have such a great lore that it feels "wasted" in the actual gameplay, armored core at least seems to be more balanced in that regard And the souls games are still better than games there are 70% movie and 30% game
Please touch on the scan system, though it is there, most if not all of the people who played ac6 only used scan in the tutorial. I really thought it would be helpful trying to find hidden items but i gave up after a couple of times using it. 5:21
It's really not that short imo. I think at minimum, it's around 10-15hrs if you google meta builds, don't mess with much of the image editor, customization, nest, or paint. I think its honestly a solid 50-60hr experience with all the content.

Watch "Yojimbo" (1961), or even the Western remake, "Last Man Standing" (1996), if you like that kind of plot.
Since you mention FromSoft Cameos, you noticed our favourite Sunbro during one of the final bosses?
This is my first AC game. Back with the earlier games I was far too young to understand them and everything felt clunky to me. Now that I'm much older, I absolutely love this game. It's got me interested in trying out the old ones just to see what they were like. Though I'm worried they probably didn't age well and I won't like them after loving AC6.
They are much harder AC6 is baby mode for the casual crowd.
@@bobbyvandyke143 Sounds fun. Might have to give them a try. I'm also kind of waiting for NG+ and NG++ for the real challenge in AC6.
@@durrik they just add new missions but you're so strong it don't matter AC fights last 10 seconds if that.
I played through the game 4 times and im still enjoying it. Theres only 3 endingsind you. Just diffrent builds and paint jobs and what not. I wish the game had a mode like old AC games from PS2 where i couod set up FFA matches or 2v2 with the ACs from the arena.
What I didn't expect from this video: coming out of it wanting to play Sekiro
There *is* a twist in the arena as alluded to early on - but you don't really hit it until the *third* playthrough
Lovely well-paced review! I'd just like to know regarding NG+, since you are instantly sent to NG+ after the credits. Are there any missable things in NG, i.e. should I try and do every side mission before tackling the final one?
He talks about this very thing around the 9 min mark.
Moonlight blade is originally in armored core 1 released in 1997
It took me about 50 hours to complete , but I didn’t run to the finish i really took my times , the first mission I refused to use the check point so I could really get the mechanics down also I replayed all the missions and arena stuff over and over, but it does take me a really long time to beat most FROMSOFTWARE games , “Elden ring” maybe 200hours first play through “sekiro” not sure but definitely a long ass time 😂
Your ready made me purchase this game
I hope they fix the deadzone issue on controllers.
For me, it only got better especially while you’re getting more weapons. Going through endings is so worth it
the thing you said about hidden loot, was still in armored core 1 PS1,
mission blow up fuel depot, no dont blow it up, go look behind 50 barrels, find loot, if you follow mission loot destroyed for ever, would have to replay through,
another was a sort of cheat, but it disabled weight limits on legs, would have to die 6 times in a row with over 60000 in debt to a mission after payment, basically waste ammo on a cheap mission and die before it ends, then u can use fast high jumping legs with heavy gear, was the only way to finish the final level
So glad I gave this game a chance!
Not every game needs to be played forever
I had no idea exploration was in this game and that makes me so much more excited for and I love how multiple play throughs are required to unlock everything. The game trades end game and extensive boring missions for replay ability for those that want to make certain builds. I see the reason behind it. I love I can play the game and play with customization but if I truly love the game I can spend hours farming and searching for elusive gear to complete builds.....kinda like darksouls did right?
You can find all the chests and hidden gear in roughly 20 minutes..
@@bobbyvandyke143 Is that legit exploring or following a guide?
@@Darth0308 just exploring with a good AC head all the chests are either on the path you take to complete the mission or pretty close to it
@bobbyvandyke143 ah, that does make more sense for the game then what I was thinking. Thanks for the heads up.
I'm glad you provided a personal review...as opposed to a...uhm...impersonal review? Jokes aside, killer review
Hey just to let you know to get a S ranks it's based on time, ammo cost, and repair cost. So you have to be very efficient and cost effective it's not clear what the exact clear conditions are you kinda just have to try until you figure it out.
It's definitely not perfect but I enjoy it.
Love the game just wish you could tune like AC4A. But this is a good balance between 5 and 4. Minus the fact the fact your a augmented human and not a neural link
How did you get 55hrs in that fast?
*looks at my own play time*
Actuallynevermind
This will be the clincher of if i get it
You're really selling this game lol. Youre laying it on better than the developers
The moonlight greatsword was actually in armored core before it was in any souls games. It might even go back to kingsfield?
To get a S rank your gonna need both speed and the ability to save your ammo and mitigate dmg... ALL 3
Robo Milenia😮? Can't wait to get to her.
I will try a mecha game for the first time just for the sake of Fromsoftware.
Outstanding review 👍
“ON THEM LEGS”
Still playing baldur’s gate 3, maybe when I finished with that and starfield I’ll buy the game.
You need 3 full replays to see all endings
There should been a Spoiler Alert going into NG+.
Was a good review until then. 😡
The Moonlight is *NOT* a Dark Souls reference.
It's a Kings Field reference and every single Armored Core has had the Moonlight, long before Souls existed.
Can you give a guide to Balteus?
I have been trying for around 2 hours now and I feel like I cant possibly beat him
Use the pulse sword and bubble gun, with plasma rockets and laser cannon, and the assault armour.
This game is SO MUCH FUN
Judging from the "Story" section, this has a better story than any of their games so far then.
Yes, I think that their other games do have outstanding lore, but it can also be completely ignored because of the way the story works and although this can be a good thing it can be a bad thing either, it is exactly because they have such a great lore that it feels "wasted" in the actual gameplay, armored core at least seems to be more balanced in that regard
And the souls games are still better than games there are 70% movie and 30% game
Please touch on the scan system, though it is there, most if not all of the people who played ac6 only used scan in the tutorial. I really thought it would be helpful trying to find hidden items but i gave up after a couple of times using it. 5:21
In Investigate Baws Arsenal, you can use scan to find the cloaked MT's easier, and Walter will even comment on you doing that
"[...] at the time of recording, I've got around 55 hours in Armored Core VI" and I am still in the Garage customizing my mech 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Maybe IGN didn't finish the game. They said the story was lackluster. Glad to hear you liked it.
@@ELpeaceonearth you prefer a quality game with 15 or 20 hour or one boring repeative 60 hour like diablo for example
@@oriandthesleepytime i see ty
Great vid
with how short people been saying this game is it sounds like NG+ is almost mandatory at this point
It's really not that short imo. I think at minimum, it's around 10-15hrs if you google meta builds, don't mess with much of the image editor, customization, nest, or paint. I think its honestly a solid 50-60hr experience with all the content.
I like how New game + isn’t really new game but just part of the main game 😂.
