The whole throw card trick during the security check might broke some laws of physics but you still can't deny that scene was competently well made, hilarious, and pretty entertaining to watch even when it doesn't make any sense 😂
Probably my favourite aspect of the Now You See Me movies was Brian Tyler's theme song that was played in the end credits. It's incredibly catchy and fits the heist vibe for the movie. Definitely one of the most underrated theme songs ever
The only thing I remember from this movie is the security trick when they are getting patted down. When watching it wasn't the trick that was impressive, it was impressive just HOW LONG that pat down took to get done. Even the guards were like "Why is this taking so long???".😂
The whole card craziness scene was designed by David Copperfield and one other card magician. All of the moves involved are legitimate. The palming and hand flips and all, the card throwing. Even sliding them down sleeves. Strung together like that though, damn near impossible, so obviously multiple takes. Definitely took some doing. But amazing to watch. And the social engineering to keep the guards off their guard and distracted at the right times. Down to the planning of the wallet to trip the sensor right as the card goes through.
When I found out Harry Potter was gonna be in this one I couldn't resist and took my sister to go see it in theaters. We all got giddy with excitement during that card heist trick and collectively just clapped at the end of it. What a scene.
What I don't mind about the Morgan freeman twist in this film is that it feels like the twist from the first film and so makes it feel more like a pattern of twists rather than a retcon.
Also, remember that the safe taken from the magic shop, the one they put Dillan in, is the prototype. The safe used in his father's trick was defective.
10:03 what I love about this scene and the heist scenes in general is that so much of the disguise is confidence. Act like you belong there and (if the place you're in is big enough) people won't realise that you don't.
I believe there’s a 3rd one in the works, Jesse Eisenberg mentioned in an interview he couldn’t wait to start filming the third film because he was so comfortable & could lower his antidepressant dosage
watching this movie in theaters made me realize that I LOVE when Daniel Radcliffe takes on an antagonist/villainous role! Look, I like him in the Harry Potter franchise, but watching him in this movie and in The Lost City made me love him when he plays the bad guy!
I adore both of these movies. Showed them to my teenage boys and they both really enjoyed them as well. So great. I do wish they'd make a third, but only if it's as good as these 2.
This movie is fun as hell, as long as you ignore the fact that they used a *_BIG_* shoehorn to try to line it up with the story in the first one (which still doesn't really work) and that a number of the magic tricks are basically just magic now.
When Danny falls backwards and he evaporates into the wet ground leaving his clothes behind.... Criss Angel did a similar trick on his mom's birthday in Vegas. He had lit himself on fire, walked around a bit then fell forwards onto the ground. When the firefighters put him out there was only a pile of clothes left on the ground and Criss HIMSELF was the fire fighter closest to the camera. He reveals himself right after the fire is out out. It was also a seamless live shot. No cuts.
thing with Criss is that almost all the tricks are Video/TV only … hire enough audience with thousands of dollars NDA’s and hide all the cuts and stuntmen work from the final footage.
I really liked the detail that the name of the watch company on Dylan's Dad's watch was "EPACSE" which is "ESCAPE" backwards. Really cool little detail that I had to pause on to notice but still neat
My favorite part besides all the magic tricks (Rain, card trick etc) is after Morgan Freeman says to Mark "My suggestion, however, is that you find yourself a successor & Jesse walks in. I love the Daniel & Dylan's relationship sm.
IDK if Dave Franco himself is doing it physically, but yes, the jumping card thing is something magicians can actually do. the card trick thing in the security room a lot of them are actual real slight of hand card stuff magicians do. I don't recall if the cast actually did it themselves but I know a couple magicians have watched that clip and made comments on it, though I forget what they said about it. As Andrew said, from what I understand they are working on a sequel with Doctor Strange himself Benedict Cumberbatch as part of it, as well as a spin-off with a full Chinese cast with the Li character from this movie as a major cast member.

They designed that scene using all real card moves... they way they are strung together and all wouldn't really work, but the individual moves are completely legitimate. Every time i rewatch this movie i think how they did not have to go as hard as they did, and yet here we are!! Every magic bit is fully thought out and choreographed so well (regardless of the real world physics implications lol).
My absolute favorite thing about any RR video is watching the body language of the person not speaking during the intro. It’s so awkward and I love it.

I think you missed the fact that in the first movie, they say that Morgan Freeman was a failed magician. and Ruffalo's character kind of says he failed as a magician so he started using his knowledge to take magicians down with his whole expose the magic stick.
I LIKE THE ORIGINAL MUCH BETTER! My biggest turn off for Part 2 was Woody Haroldson(sp) playing as his own twin brother was a little too goofy for me... I have been waiting for a part 3 that gets back to a more serious tone with a whodunit structure like the first one. MAKE PART 3 HAPPEN!
Didn’t they establish in the first movie that Morgan Freeman’s character Thaddeus was a former magician turned magic debunker? Of course he knows how to do tricks himself.
