- UPDATE: I was incorrect about being stuck in the Wildlife in order to farm the Loot Midgets. Apparently, I learned incorrectly. We've been told that you should be able to farm them as long as you don't turn in the Doctor's Orders mission and you can move on with the game. If you disagree, please leave a comment. But this video is still helpful to anyone who has turned in the Doctor's Orders mission or for just doing something different and fun. Thanks again everyone!!!
In this video, I'll show you how to farm the Loot Midgets of Sawtooth Cauldron. This is a great alternative to the normal farming of Loot Midgets in the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve.

This guy is so professional, he even lay out overviews like a professional presentation. fucking efficient! good job!
He's not so professional getting the facts wrong, ex: he said you can farm in the wildlife, but you cannot progress in the story. But if you go to tannins and to get the mission doctors orders they will spawn again, but just don't collect anything for the mission, if you grab two mission items the loot midgets will stop spawning

This was solo if anyone was wondering about drop rates. This run is definitely one of my favorites!

Has anyone ever opened a washing machine and got a midget? In the years i've played this game, I honestly don't think i've ever had a single midget from them.

Had one in Thou Cuts, down by the 2 shielded guys in the cave. Go down the last

All of this on TVHM from normal Loot Midgets.
All I need now is a Corrosive Weapon to make my way to Heroes Pass.
First time when i jumped in there was 2 migets waiting for me, was really fun, I think it took me 4 runs for the first legendary( Rolling Thunder, it tries to kill me more than the enemies) then on the next I get the Verduc and the Conference, the Mechro Class mod was really unexpected drop for me, I have to thank you so much for this video, this made my day dude.
Me and my friends got 9 LLM in one run and got 5 legendaries! Thanks for showing me this! U guys rock

just starting out. you guys are a big help thanks. I was farming the LMs at the WLE Annex and accidentally picked up some slag samples and poof they disappeared. So this helps thanks. I am a Wild Land Firefighter and it is nice to be able to play this sometimes. I'm only level 26 but I'm getting there. using a PS3 (OG, I Know)
If anyone would like to help me level up or acquire some gear that would be great. I am not expecting anyone to go out of there way though, its cool. I really don't even know how to play with someone else.
Really had a great run on farming the loot midgets of The Exploitation Preserve, thanks for the great vids, I'm looking forward to giving this a try. Are these methods of farming seriously hampered by doing them solo and/or without the DLC?
I don't get the part at the beginning where you say that "you are stuck at the story". The only thing you're aint going to turn in is doctors orders mission and that is a mission that you simply can do in the first play through if you wanna know whats up with that mission but it's not important for the main story, so your not stuck at all. And farming loot migets in the preserve is way easier because you don't need to be in 4player mode, don't need to open a giant amount of stuff and don't need to kill so many enemy's. You can save tons of time with doing it there and even more if you have the creature slaughter dome.
You're absolutely correct. Apparently, I learned about farming the Wildlife Loot Midgets incorrectly. As always, we appreciate the info! I've updated the video so people know that you're not stuck. Hopefully, people who've turned in Doctor's Orders not knowing can still find this video useful.
Question: I know 4 Player mode is not necessary for the Preserve. But my understanding is the going into 4 Player mode increases your chances of getting a drop from anyone in the game which would help even with the Preserve Loot Midgets. Am I thinking about that correctly?

Not sure if someone else has mentioned this, but they do spawn at other locations around Sawtooth Cauldron. They are pretty common in Main Street Reservoir and in the tower above Mortar's Buzzard.
First run got 6 midgets to spawn and got 2 legendaries. Great video

For a chilled loot run thousand cuts has a lot of chests and no other enemies than loot midgets and rarely one armed bandits if you have not done Rocko sidequest. You can do a very short version of this run by paying 8 E to go to Terra then head back to Thousand Cuts. Just open the two chests immediately outside Terra entrance, quit then resume. You restart next to a metal chest and a rectangular chest. I have scored sessions with a loot midget every second run. On the full run I usually get one or two loot midgets but often more. Don't do the short version if your system has slow quit and resume cycles.
You can advance in the game and farm loot midgets. You can use the quest 'Doctors Orders' to farm the loot midgets.

Once with, 4 player mode I got 11 LLMs in one run. Was insane.
You should also consider the fact that SC ahs the rarest enemies in the game (Rat, Nomad, Psycho and Goliath LLMs plus the Tubby Midget).

Do you know the Thousand Cuts Loot Midget method? If you never talk to Rocko in the mission Rocko's Modern Strife then Thousand Cuts stays without any enemies at all except loot midgets and occasional One-Armed Bandits. In my experience it's about as good as the run you're describing, if less reliable than the Wildlife Preserve.
how long does it take per run just wonder cause i use the wild life explortation one and i wanted to compare drop counts

Question: Do loot midgets in different locations have a different loot pool or higher chances on different legendarys? I was just wondering because I get a lot storms, stalkers and tunguskas but I have never gotten a godfinger or a carnage from the Preserve midgets.

As always thank you! Oxmonkey here. I'm not positive about this one. My understanding is that the loot pool and your chances are the same across the board with them. But I haven't gotten any of those four new pearls with the Digistruct Peak pack -- Godfinger, Bekah, Wanderlust, Carnage -- from the Preserve midgets either. But I have scored a handful of Godfingers and Bekahs from Varkid Tubbies in Caustic Caverns.
To my understanding loot midgets in four player mode have a higher chance to drop pearls or legendary weapons because I did it in one player mode and had not gotten a drop in 20 runs but in four player mode I have gotten a drop in 7 to 8 runs correct me if I am wrong
James Marmol You're absolutely correct. In Gearbox's article about Loot, it talks about how the chances of getting rare loot increase with each player. It's towards the bottom of the article.

That's the reason why it helps to bump up into 4 Player mode when farming.

Why not look for potential loot midgets at Thousand Cuts? If you dont complete Rakko's modern strife side mission the entire area leading to Brick will be clean of bandits.

You can farm loot midgets at thousand cuts but you need the rockos modern strife or defend slab tower if you do rockos modern strife mission DON'T talk to rocko doing this will make so no bandits will spawn so you can check the containers around the map and hope for some loot midgets doing the defend slab tower brick ask you to pick up rockos flags don't pick them up that will enable bandit spawns after that check containers for loot midgets around the map when you are done save and quit and check containers for loot midgets again I hope this helps your guys channel
You can complete the wildlife preserve mission. To get the loot midgets to spawn you must have the active mission "doctors orders" from tannis and you cant complete this SIDE mission
Can u have just 2 players or does it have to be only 4 players
Does anyone know if farming them on the handsome jack collection in the wildlife preserve still works? I keep doing it and I've done at many runs on different occasions and they have dropped nothing but ancient relics. Do I have a better chance if I do it online or offline?

The Wildlife preservation was more efficient for me I ran through this area 10x and either lootmidgets didn't spawn or they never dropped legendaries/pearls

Midgets are everywhere.. Not only preserve and not only Cauldron.
Example : I found jenkins at the top of thousand cuts. (Near the bigass gate)
+Güneş Seyis Fun fact, I once had TWO Jimmy Jenkins' spawn on me AT THE SAME TIME. I was at the Wildlife Exploitation Preserve in the small loot room in the area where Jack released the Badass skags. I was just opening the boxes in quick succession and suddenly there were explosions EVERYWHERE. Apparently I had found Jenkins twice in the exact same room. And yet, after all that, I didn't even get anything good from it.

I did exactly the same thing and no midgets, why weren't they spawning. Note that I was playing offline when I was farming does it affect it?

Did I get this correctly? You enter Sawtooth for the first time, kill all the enemies there, and run through all the boxes close enough for LM to spawn in them, but without opening. After that, you leave Sawtooth, go back in, and since you killed all the nemies, no more will spawn, except for the LMs that spawned the first time. So you run through all the boxes making LMs spawn in them again, then leave and repeat. Basically you kill enemies on first run to clear out the territory, and then on the next runs you just "add" LMs to the lootable objects that don't already have them? So for example 2 LMs spawned the first time, you left, and re-entered Sawtooth, ran through the lootables again and made like 1 more spawn, making it a total of 3 LMs ready to jump out?
FlaryBear Not quite. You have the general process correct but some of the details are wrong.
-Get into 4-player mode to increase spawn-rate and drop-rate of LMs.
-Go through and kill all enemies and open everything a LM can spawn from.
-Transport away and back.
-From now on, LMs will spawn only from metal chests. Each time you transport away and back, the chances of LM spawning is reset. Therefore, the number of LMs can vary every time.
- Run close enough to all the metal chests to get the LMs to respawn(if they're going to)
- Repeat
Just note that the enemies will eventually respawn. In my experience, they will respawn about every 6-10 run-throughs. They may respawn in groups over several run-throughs too.
Does that make sense?
BroCo Gaming Yeah the problem with my understanding was that I always (until this point) thought that they can only spawn from closed lootables, so for example if open a box, the moment it opens up there is, say, 2% chance for it to immediately spawn a loot midget, but after posting that comment I went on to try it myself and realised that they can spawn from closed and opened lootables, so everything made sense after that. That's a great and well done video though, thanks a lot.

About the 'stuck at that point' comment about the Exploitation Preserver midgets, it isnt true. Recently, I found out that you do NOT have to complete the mission (Doctor's Orders) as a story mission, rather as a side quest. I have 9 OP8 save files, and without a save editor, I still farm those midgets.

The patch on October 29, 2015 makes four player difficultly no possible anymore. Sadly.
actualy u can farm loot migets even after progressing but u cant finish the mission called doctors orders
+kiler koala yep, Doctor's Orders is a side mission, nothing to do with progression in main story. you can always 100% guarantee 3-4 legendary migets and only takes 1min per run. making it more efficient since you can do more runs. i use the bee shield which is very effective at dealing insane damage. down anything in matter of split seconds. and as a Optional bonus you can farm Pimon and Tumbaa infront of the Annex where you save and quit perrun for a very high chance at Legendary class Mod drops which comes with red text flavor and +5 stats up to 5-6 stats per mod which comes in a variety unlike Terramorphous drops. Good place to start gearing up your new level 72, untill you got what you need to solo Invincible raid bosses.

I'm sorry but this takes a lot to set up just for the possibility of loot midgets to spawn. Stick with Doctors orders. Only have to fight enemies and you get guaranteed loot midgets.

I'm not really a farmer. Just playing through this game for the first time ever. I got a level 27 legendary class mod from a loot midget the very first time I went to sawtooth. The chances must be high.
Would you say this is the best way of farming eridium?
***** The best places we've found is The Ancient Dragons in Tiny Tina's DLC and the Warrior. The quickest way is to drop down into True Vault Hunter Mode and they'll still drop the same amount of Eridium.
I just did this 2 times right now. I went into normal mode, transported to Hero's Pass. It took about 3 minutes to run to the Warrior. I just ran past everyone because I have OP8 gear. Then I killed the Warrior with two shots from a DPUH and collected 21 Eridium.
Then I quit and saved and started up again. You'll start in with the Warrior and kill him quick. So you could max out your Eridium in probably an hour.

I like the video but there Is something wrong about the doctors orders midgets. They still spawn after you do the missionwildlife exploitation but not if you complete doctors orders
That's normal behavior. If you want to farm the Wildlife Midgets, you can't turn in Doctor's Orders, to my knowledge.
This is what someone said in the comments of our video about the Wildlife Preserve... "You don't necessarily need to have the Wildlife story mission open. You can have Doctors Orders active, then 3-4 Midgets will spawn every time".
That's the downside of farming the Loot Midgets in the Preserve. You can only do it if you don't turn it Doctor's Orders. You're stuck at that point in the game. If you turn in Doctor's Orders, those Loot Midgets to back to a normal spawn rate which is not very often.
Oh. I'm sorry for the mistake. Also, I have not picked up any echos for doctors orders and I'm in uvhm on ps3 and none are spawning. I also tried it on my other character who is in normal mode and they're still not spawning. Any suggestions?
Victor Unnone To my knowledge, the Loot Midgets in the Wildlife will only spawn in Ultimate Vault Hunter Mode.
Also, when you're in UVHM, if you go past the Midgets into the area where you find Bloodwing's feather, then it's possible that the Midgets won't spawn anymore.

You can farm loot midgets at the wildlife in any mode if you never picked up an echo and they do not spawn pick at least one echo and try again you may need to save and quit in order for it to work

cj Yankura I'm not sure what you're referring to. You might be confused between OP8 (Overpower 8) vs Level 8. In the video, I farm with several different characters, one is OP8 and another is OP2.

Mathias Pahlman You can do this in both TVHM and UVHM. But in TVHM, Loot Midgets don't spawn as often and they have lower drop rates. So it's definitely harder to get good drops in TVHM.

I must be missing something but why did you go to Gees Arena?
to make the game think you have 4 people in your game so the drop rates would be beefed up a little more
any raid boss would be fine really but typically Gee and/or Hyperius are the most easily reached ones

Correction you can complete the wild life preservation mission but you can't complete the doctors orders mission that way I beat the game and still have the loot midgets
On average I get 1 pearl/legendary every 3 runs
And you are going to get 4 midgets every run
AND if you save in the natural selection anex
This will get much MUCH faster than the sawtooth coudron method
(Don't pick up ANY of the echo devices of the doctors orders mission otherwise you can't get loot midgets anymore)
You will still get loot midgets if you pick up The notes (PS its Not An echo)

Still think that doctors order is better, and you aren’t stuck at the story, you can continue but if you do the skags and stalker will be freed and you’ll have to kill then each run
