If you're walking around J-town (1st and 2nd Street), that's OK. But be careful around 3rd Street. 4th Street is where "Skid Row" begins. Arigato.
Reasonable advice
No. Skid ROW is further away. More like 5th and 6th streets.
Too bad Komasa is now closed. The owner retired after almost 40 years. They were awesome. You would have loved it, if you haven't tried it before, that is. Great video!
Thank you! I'll definitely visit the udon place and gyoza place!
Hope you like it
Hey Steve! Thanks for profiling J-Town. It used to be my old stomping grounds. Three out of the four places you shared, are new to me. Meaning, I always walked right by them without even thinking about trying them. Marugame Monzo always had such long lines. I had no idea that it was a house made udon place. I will definitely visit these restaurants in the near future. Thanks for sharing. That chirashi looks amazing!
Thank you so much for this video! It really is so nice and convenient that everything is within walking distance. It just makes traveling from elsewhere so much less stressful!
Everything looks so tasty! I am visiting L.A. sometime this month, so I will keep on eye on this one. Thanks Steve!
Wow, everything looks delicious 👍
Wonderful video. Thank you!
Japanese food is expensive but I am amazed at how these restaurants continue to thrive.
Oooh Little Tokyo looks so cute and fun. The sushi place had me so jealous, the chirashi bowl looked so fun and tasty. You should try the Shabu Shabu place that was in the background next :P Awesome video Steve!!
Sounds great
The fist dish... stooop i lovee 😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮😮
I miss Ebisu... That was a great late night spot
Haven't been to LA in years ... great video updating my memory. Will put it in my planner ... a quick trip for some authentic Japanese food. Thanks, you ROCK!
Keep in mind it’s in an dangerous awful area of LA. Right by skid tow. Go somewhere else.
It was a "yuck" area outside of Little Tokyo, so we didn't wander a block out of the community. Have checked out other videos of yours ... I like your style! @@LT-pp1je
@@LT-pp1jeNot true.
Everything looks yummy ❤❤
Sure is
We used to eat in Little Toyko back in the 80's. There was a food hall where you sat at a table in the center of the room and were surrounded by 20 individual kitchens. Runners would take your order and bring the food to your table. It was fabulous but for reasons unknown to me it closed after several years, really miss it.
I don't ask for medium rare anymore. I only eat medium to well done. That's my personal preference.🍽️🧐
Great vlog :) comming end of Nov first time :) deffo come visit little Toyko:) 😊🤜🏴

my happy place
I can vouch for Marugame Monzo and Fugetsudo (which has been there forever). Forget 100s, there are 1000s of Gyoza shops in Japan. We have to try the Kaminari since my family are connoisseurs of Gyoza

There is actually a parking structure / lot with elevators that come right down to the ground level of the Little Tokyo plaza. Enter from 1st street where there is a hotel.

there are many places to eat in J town but most of the stores are anime too many anime there used to be more traditional Japanese stores
maybe 20 years ago I was disapointed when I visited J town last year. There is the Japanese American National Museum which is good to visit.
Failed to do Sushi Gen down the street, still in little Tokyo. Best sushi in LT.
Daikoiya Ramen is 🔥 in Lil Tokyo
That’s a lot of foods Steve. Did you eat them all? What happened to the food you couldn’t finish?
hit up sushi gen in little tokyo and makomae in diamond bar
Sushi 55 is best!
you ate all Chirashi box , nigiri set, ribeye steak and udon?
Heard some of these stores are up with their leases. Apparently they're gentrifying LA Japantown. So many of these old mom and pop stores will be forced to close diwn.
So is there Japanese food prepared by Japanese in Little Tokyo?
Beef tastes like Yoshinoya? Lol! Is that a good thing?
Latinos in every chitchen! Orale
They originally have Japanese staff, and then they leave after they have been able to successfully train the staff.
how does this dude eat so much
How to go to Japan without actually going to japan😂
Good way to put it
That food looks mid compared to Chinese and SE Asian food.
The food looked delicious.
Turned the sound down once the swallowing and noises began. Slurping is to be expected but yikes....the licking of the lips sounds and chewing...oh hell no.
See the Joe Rogan and Elon Musk recent interview while they ate pizza during the Pod Cast. About threw up and I like them both.
Gagged repeatedly.
