- It is great to have George Mauro from Humble Road back on the channel. In this video he provides a complete walk through tour of his very first build. This 2017 Mercedes Benz Sprinter 170" Extended high top is an exceptional chassis for making an building custom camper vans for enjoying the Van Life. This van has a front futon bed, center refrigerator & wardrobe and a rear long corner kitchen with full shower and toilet on the other side. The Lithium Iron Phosphate battery system with roof top solar and Inverter provide enough power that the van does not need an auxiliary generator.

Humble Road, THANK YOU SOOO MUCH for mentioning you build with cardboard first!!!! That is such an amazing idea! I am preparing to build my own home on wheels and was worried about doing it and not being comfortable after it's done, then having to redo it. This just saved me so much worry. Amazing van, I plan on stealing some of your ideas, but I will give credit where it's due :) I like the aluminum better than wood also, seems like it would be stronger and lighter.

This builder put a lot of thought in his build. As he walks you through you can feel his pride and love for his product. he is not just a builder, he is an artist.

A year and a half to produce that cluttered mess of disjointed ideas, the poor lady. The materials and components would of cost her a pretty penny. That old guy calls himself an artist, hes a con-artist.

This man is a genius. I'm not even remotely anywhere near making a decision to build a van but I watch his channel with great interest as it is refreshing that he so generously share tips on what and why he is doing whatever it is and his passion is infectious. If I ever want a van built, I would want him to do it but reality is I may never be able to afford him!
Superb! I love the layout. So well thought out. The insert at the door is a fantastic idea. His workmanship, and that of his son, is wonderful. I bet his customer was really pleased with the van!

Finally i saw my dream layout kitchen in the back bed at front (properly made a murphybed) in the same spot and the shower in the back curtain with a hidden drawer toitlet thing awesome!!!!

Sooo what I got from watching this is... if I can’t afford to have this man build and design my van... I shouldn’t have it. His passion would sell me. Details are important to him and I think that’s important for a small living space where everything needs it’s place. Dope van.
This man really loves what he does. He's so meticulous. He thinks outside the box. He loves it so much that he can't sleep because his mind won't stop thinking about how to find the solutions and expand his ideas. When he said he couldn't sleep it reminded me of when I was writing my book and the books I'm writing now. I can't sleep because the ideas keep coming and won't let me sleep. I keep paper and pencil in my bed just so I don't let the idea get away from me. He is so impressive and has a none, selfish heart. I love the analogy he used about the sheet music. I did the same thing with my book in reference to the copyright. The information is not meant to keep it all to yourself. It's meant to share. Let others play it their way. He is so impressive and has captured my heart. He is the person I want to build my van when I'm ready. I do wish him and his family the best. He truly deserves it and yes I'm going to subscribe to his channel.
This van built is such a beaut and remains my george fav. Focus on details, practicality, functionality and comfort under his creativity and care make his vans mobile art. Glad to hear he is adding more muscle to his flock!

Wonderful open feeling throughout, a very smart floor plan. I have to admit, I am not a fan of the bathroom at the end, but in this built it worked great because it did not block the view. And the placement of the toilet: Genius! Loved everything about this one Patrick. Thank you for bringing it to us.

I think that type of bed might fit at the back on a lifted floor to allow a bigger garage. I like the bathroom in the front of the van

27:40 this man has LIVED this life he KNOWS what works or doesn't and DOES NOT MISS A SINGLE DETAIL! I see ppl use reflectix all the time or whatever it Is called and NOT leave any air gap.... and complain about insulation. Must be why... and the smarts to use the pull along the shower bottom that's GENIUS in my build I'll Def do an open shower concept and utilize this feature! Amazing!!

As we watched George meticulously build this van ,I thought it would live on the East Coast where a lot of humidity is encountered so I was kind of on board with the lack of windows that open and ultimately mostly using AC ,but now that I realize that it's a West Coast van where we have a dry climate and our beaches are cool, I think windows that open for ventilation are a must have.
I’m disabled and one thing that consistently impresses me about this van specifically is that this one is *way* more accessible than a lot of other vans I’ve seen. There’s no steps, ladders, etc except for getting into the van itself involved in the day-to-day operation of/living in it. This is just about the only van I’ve seen with a barrier-free shower.

Wow, he thinks and rethinks his designs and he's willing to update his builds. He pays attention to usage, storage and the buyers needs. I know that people don't like waiting 1 1/2 years for your build but I am sure it is pure quality.

George, I'm an avid arm chair Van traveler. I've followed your work and as everyone that watches you believes, you are a master artist/innovator/builder perfectionist. I just watched this video and sent it to all my kids...lol with a hint/hint/ "who wants to cosign my loan" . I am a retired nurse and ran away from home from Boston to North Carolina to wait out the pandemic. and as a nurse I worry about your health. The growth of your business and potential lack of sleep may cause you some problems... oh it's none of my business. just wanted to say thanks for sharing all your wisdom!

Love this build, the workmanship, the thought process and the passion which goes into the final product. I'm presently living in Trinidad having the sole responsibilty of caring for my parents my dad died exactly 3 yrs ago at 89 and my moms still here with me. My escape has been watching these van builds all hours of the day and night. I dream about the day I'm able to breathe again and travel around this way, its been 12 long challenging yrs and while i would do this all again I am tired need a nice break. Would love for you to do my build in the future!

This van looks so spacious inside, and that white long counter top is incredible. Anyone that is able to get a Humble Road van build I’m sure will be very pleased with the result.
