So glad to be around for this age of humanity. Just love keeping track of space and ground based telescopes, advancing supercomputers, video gaming and building my own pc's. Sure there are plenty of drawbacks to too much technology becoming invasive. But take a good long look at the Hubble Ultra Deep Field image and be in awe of what is possible.
I did the calculations recently, the current hash rate of the Ethereum network shows that there is several hundred exaFLOPs worth of processing power just in the Ethereum network. The next big jump won't come from one large super computer but by linking together the billions of idle devices already produced and incentivizing their owners to participate.
For things like BOINC/Folding@home/Dreamlab the main problem is definitely the lack of incentives to participate. If everyone's idle computing power around the world was used by scientists the simulations that they could do would be on a completely different level.
Today the main problem is lack of food, global inequality, war, economic gap, Human rights and climate change. Just increasing the the number of calculating is waste of resources.

U.S first exascale supercomputers:
1). Frontier (ORNL) 1.5 exaflops. 2021
2). Aurora (ANL) 1 exaflops. ?
3). El Capitan (LLNL) 2 exaflops. 2023
What is the operating system running on this computer?
damn this was inspiring!
ummm! Big Bang. Where did all the material come from that went BANG?
That's so awesome
So cool
"we can't get the transistors any smaller". is that a quote from Intel Foundry Services?

such a waste of computing power
so exascale gpu when?
❤️
The real problem is removing the heat from the electronics.
Energy efficiency too, this super computers use 6% of world’s energy
👍
3.6 Roentgen
Can china really build a 1000 exaflop computer ?
Enter Nvidia's DGX GB200 SuperPOD...
The Luddites were right

Shut up FAT
ps8 is exascale machine
