Been too busy Sketching, trying to align Rectangles; AND there's a command for it. Deeer!!! Thanks Aaron. I'm learning Sooo much with these "Square One" episodes.
Thanks. I didn't know I needed this until I tried to connect two rectangles neither of which were on a single axis. This is much simpler than drawing a rectangle, then trying to match the angles already in other shapes.
I would love a tutorial on how to easily identify holes or incomplete lines in a drawing. It can be frustrating trying to find the problem lines if they are really small (say on a radius or multiple intersection). Thank you for the series, very helpful.
For us slow kids in the back... Line tool > draw four lines, each parallel with the green & red axes (just a way to orient your eventual rectangle in the modeling space). Pull the square up to make a box, enter 8' to make it 8 feet tall (or whatever height you want). Use the select tool and select the top of the box. On a Mac w/ a Magic Mouse: Control click, then select Hide from the dropdown menu - the top of the box gets hidden. You can use Command Z to undo this. Now select Rotated Rectangle from your tool bar. Resume this video at 1:25. 4:49 I don't know what happened, but my protractor says the angle of my new plane is zero degrees. Oh well.
Hiya, its quite infuriating, but my copy of Sketch Up won't allow me to input the measurement in the bottom right hand corner. Any idea as to why this is?
And we would love to provide them!! Can you give us an idea of what you are hoping to see when you ask for a walkthrough? This series (Square One) is specifically created to give new users a step-by-step overview of individual commands and concepts in SketchUp, but we are more than willing to to create walkthrough videos, as well.
I've been using Sketchup for years and never once clicked on that tool. Thanks for sharing, I like it!
