LEGO Horizon was made by another developer than allllll those other LEGO games you mentioned, so that's probably why there are so many differences. Also you should 100% play LEGO City Undercover. It's my favorite LEGO game, and I think you'd love it too
I love your videos on the Horizon series. They really show your love for the franchise. So I was waiting for your review on this one more than anyone else's. Thank you, very thorough review!
I will get if if it is less than 40€ I never payed full price for any LEGO game because LEGO games for me are something I play if I don't have anything else to play.
i'm half way through the game, and I love it. Yes, it was expensive - but Holidays are coming, I bet they will offer discounts to cash in on the holiday cheer. I for one, am a Horizon die hard fan and the only reason i purchased this, my first lego game ever, was Horizon. No regrets!
Thank you for the great review! I like how you explain everything so well 😄 I agree on your critique points as well! I especially missed having a NPC with me when playing solo. I loved the game, especially in the viewpoint as a Horizon fan. It was funny and happy all the time, which made me happy 🤗
I got the physical switch version and have been enjoying the game a lot, I really connect with the sense of humor and I love the actors reprising their roles, the guy replacing the late Lance Reddick does a good job, the game is beautiful even if it’s a little lower res on switch, one extra thing, I’ve been playing on PS since 1995 and it makes me happy seeing a Switch cartridge with the PlayStation logo on it.
The PC performance is VERY lackluster if you understand what they're doing. There's a default resolution scaling setting for each preset, and it seems to range from 40-60%. Basically the presets force running the game at about half resolution to hide the optimization. OF COURSE, it'll play well. Now, if you disable the resolution scaling, performance quite literally goes down the drain. I have a 7900XT (top 5 card in the market), and it struggles to get 60FPS on epic settings, and 120FPS on medium settings (these deactivate RT) at a 2K resolution. For the sake of comparison, Forbidden West, didn't push my card AT ALL at maxed out settings at 2K resolution, only the main DLC town pushed it, but never to the max on the 60FPS cap that I had. This is a LEGO game with 0 complex things to render and the performance shouldn't be this horrid. Forbidden West is leaps and bounds a much superior feast on the eyes. Unreal Engine 5 is a mistake. As a sidenote, Hades II, which in my opinion has more environment and character detail than this game, and shares the same camera style (panning fixed angle), can run on a boiled potato. The game isn't even out. There's no way to defend this.
Mine runs fine at 2x 4K on DLSS Quality (57” neo G9; 4090). It might be that this is a cpu-heavy title, so there is that. With a lackluster cpu frame-generation might help. edit: my fps is around 45-60, on Epic, 7680x2160, with VRR and no noticeable hiccups. Question: Why would you want 120fps? Are you using mouse+keyboard and expect instant response? (I always play with a controller, so playing by intuition, not so much pixel-precision; hence 120fps+ is not a necessity)
Yeah I’ve played a bit on PC now after finishing this video and I agree it could certainly be better optimized. UE5 is heavy, but the game should perform better than it does. I’ve been having Vsync issues as well.
I love the game. I have been playing solo, but can see how much more fun it would in couch coop. I bought it simply because it was Horizon. But after playing for a few hours I will be buying more Lego games.
70€ AND a PS5 is just insane. CEOs are trying to bully consumers and don't care for their target audience .. that's why they support all this divisive toxic "woke" stuff.
A bit on the simple side which isn’t a bad thing at all. Playing on the switch and looks and plays great. My only quirk is that the levels are a bit TOO formulaic and there are tons of loading screens. Not sure if that’s an issue with the other versions or not.
Thanks for a review - I have so many things to play right now that I will need actually to wait until I buy Lego Horizon and ... Silent Hill 2 remake. But will definitely play it.
I’m sorry for the long text I wish one day to also learn to review games we need to be mindful respect critic and be positive you did amazing Best review ever this is how I want more gaming reviews to be liked I tired of every time of game review to feel like over exaggerated or overly negativity or complicated for the wrong reasons or over positivity or something that is hard to watch. games aren’t perfect but you can understand what makes a good game even if there is things missing but doesn’t mean is bad game or deserves a 7 because nowadays means good or bad but even things missing there is other unique things that Lego horizon has that other lego games don’t have I mean it feels unique Lego horizon feels like you aren’t playing the same Lego game reskin or improved, there is room for improvement maybe something new or better could do later, you don’t have to copy from other games or to be like that game that is highly praised and copy the formula but Lego horizon feels a really fun and well made game that deserves to be played but also something I really need to touch and don’t I think is fair maybe in another video maybe not but is the price at launch right too ? No, but it depends if you are a horizon fan and Lego fan there is audience a % of that group will pick up day one the rest of fans will wait to play it and more average consumer, I also think the price could be lower but what exactly why they have priced like this ? I feel today Economy the price of games are way to high and that can hurt how you view a game quality and could have that effected the review score too ? it depends but the reality is is not game to be market at so high price maybe when it gets more popular im sure a lot of people would be bought at launch if was priced more reasonable , people are saying is expensive for how short a game is I think short game is not the issue I actually want more short games with a lot of quality and replay value I don’t want every game experience to be so long . I need to experience more games to be sure what I feel how I feel about games nowadays I see things that I don’t like I rather have Lego horizon adventures more than other games right now there games that makes sense to be big like horizon feels like you are there but the story the lore machines everything makes sense to be a big world you want to take your time and not to rush things.
*sighs dramatically* Well my friend, thank you for this review!! I honestly didn't know this even existed. Don't think I'll pick this up, but it looks cute and I'm glad they made it. My *REAL* desire here is I want a real LEGO Thunderjaw. I like that they had the main theme in there musically though, I honestly missed that throughout Forbidden West, it only shows up in a few places (I KNOW, I know there's a thematic reason for that, it's almost like they went with "it's the second movie in the trilogy, here's the FW theme" [which I did enjoy by the way, just wanted more OGtheme]. It's super cute, if the nieces and nephews lived nearby anymore I'd snatch this up in a heartbeat. As is, nobody will play with me *pouts* and I live in a cornfield so I haven't the internet for online. Took me four days to download Zero Dawn lol! Arktix thanks always for your Horizon content, you're the best! Jealous of your wife in a good way, I think she's very blessed, and I'm dearly happy for you guys. Here officially ends my stalker arc. Take care my friend, everyone! (seeing Sylens as a DJ in there was very cute, but broke my heart. Very bittersweet)
I'm hoping this will be on sale relatively quick along with Black Ops 6. Black Ops probably will be around christmas for maybe 50 but this one may take a bit. Sad to hear a lot of the Lego game DNA is missing here. Characters to play as, replay value, destruction, etc.
I’m surprised you didn’t mention the length of time to complete the game. Everyone seems to be mentioning that it is 5 hours to complete, which if true, is pretty unacceptable for a 70 dollar game.
It's interesting how several critiques were a positive point. I love not feeling like I need to destroy the whole landscape to collect bricks, I love that my 5 year old can just follow along without him being challenged by hard tasks.
70€ and only PS5 is too much. I want to play it on PS4 Pro. It works on Switch, so why not on PS4 Pro? It means they just use the game to push the PS5 on me.
pricing for the game is rather awful unfortunately, this is a full-priced game absolutely wrecked the launch, on Steam all player stats are in triple digits really sad cos this game looks amazing for horizon fans but I am definitely holding off till a sale good review, explained the mechanics well
Thanks! Yeah I think waiting for a sale make a lot of sense. It’s kinda pricey for how much playtime you’re getting. I’d be interested to know PlayStation and Switch numbers. I’m not surprised it’s not doing well on PC. I don’t think it was ever really going to be big on PC. Probably also not the sort of game that has a huge spike of players right at launch. Kids will probably get it for the holidays and play it then.
This game is a lot of fun! I think some people might grumble that there's only about 15 hours of total playtime here, but I personally find it refreshing that not everything in the world has to provide 100 hours of content. We already have two full Horizon games for that, with a third on the way! This is a cutesy little foray into expanding the Horizon universe for younger audiences, and hopefully more Lego playsets!
I have actually streamed some Elden Ring. Want to get back to that at some point. I have to admit the combat feels kinda clunky and slow for me, but maybe I need to get further along.
I play all 3 games on a 4th gen i7 with a 1060 and I'm on newgame+ on the main games its fine. the lego game is not a problem for a 1060 they have a movie/series coming so this is grooming a new group of fans I am glad its not the same dev as the other lego games, I like it more
This game is just Lego in name. it's not really a Lego game sadly. Lego Lord of the rings has the best "gadgets" in any lego game with the Mithril items. All those graphics and polygons but no good stud explosions. gonna skip this one. thanks
@@ArktixOfficial Definitely if you can. They take direct lines / audio from the movies but also play out the scene in a fun lego way. Like in this game. it goes through all 3 movies and adds a ton of book lore to the game that the movies never touch on. it's a big open world and a dream if you're a lord of the rings fan. I would love a remake like they did with The Skywalker Saga. Thanks for the review!
One of the worst lego games Yes it looks good and has some fun mechanics But nothing to destroy no collectibles you can't go off explore in coop which why would you nothing to see And sooooo many cut scenes.
Honestly, I was taken aback on how cheery aloy sounds. She sounds so happy and her voice is light. But I ain't complaining.
She looks prettier here than she did in the FB trailer, buuuuuuut that's just my opinion :D
That was the main reason i wanted to play Lego Horizon. Thrilled to have a happy Aloy after all the shit she went through in ZD and FW lol

Every review I’ve watched till now ignored a lot of crucial points you talked about. Thanks for this great review in contrast.

Good critiques. The best I've heard so far from any reviewer.
Thank you!

I never payed full price for any LEGO game because LEGO games for me are something I play if I don't have anything else to play.
Fair enough! I do think it’s kinda pricey given it’s fairly short.
It would be weirdly fitting if a sequel based on Forbidden West did add in those improved co-op features given HFW’s focus on NPC buddies. 🤔
@6:30 That's my biggest gripe. Not only does no one come with you but at the end of the mission they all act like they were with you the whole time.

More expensive than both of the Horizon main series games...
@@TsarBomba69420😭😭

Yeah. I WILL play Lego Horizon, but not at that price
Little disappointed hearing about the low number of characters and lack of replay value considering these are two of the staples of Lego games.

There are red “apex bricks” from going back to do apex hunts, but I have not found any like the other LEGO games that give you chests.
