In the 70’s my best friend’s dad would take us to dinner and shopping every Friday evening at Montclair Plaza, we love it. He was a Dr. that traveled a lot, never home so for 2 years that was our standing date.
Thanks for coming out to Montclair to make this Montclair Place walking video. The name was better as the Montclair Plaza. In the 1990's I loved buying my clothes at the mens clothing store called " Koda". Putting my nite club clothes on lay away lol. 🕺🏻🎼🎼🎼 I would always use that upper Sears entrance to go to Sears . The jewelry store was there. And shoe department to upper entrance. I worked at Hickory Farms outlet store during Christmas in the 1990's. Fun job so many people shipping buying gift boxes.🎄🎅🏻. I was giving out free Hickory Farms samples of the Beef Stick and Cheese on a toothpick . Fun times working there during Christmas . I remember the parking lot jammed pack as the mall was jammed with lots of people too.
Old school Hickory Farms which i seen a kiosk at another mall during Christmas time. I remember the old barn front 1s at malls. Shi Shi Montclair Place....lol
At 9:27 used to be the coolest store in the late 90's. I forgot name but it used to be a japanese import store. They sold import games and music. I bought so much stuff there. That store was the only reason I went to that mall. I was heartbroken when the store closed in the 2000's and became luggage store for a while
I haven't been to Montclair Plaza in years, and my office is only about 5 miles away. It's just one of those places that's more appropriate to a past era. Looks like they're trying to freshen it up, but people seem to be ditching enclosed malls for outdoor shopping and dining venues. Rick Caruso should buy it and turn it into something like The Grove. Then it would be busy again.
I bet way different than the hayday of that mall. I would assume its been remodeled inside than the old school days? Unique vibe than other malls I've been to
@@HEYMANWITHJAYMANit was last remodeled around 2017. Before that it had an ugly remodel in 2008 that was fortunately short lived. The mall looked best from 1985 to 2006ish… very pastel eighties in a great way
The Montclair Plaza was packed in the 1970s/1980s. I remember the Sears store and Nordstroms. The theater was Macy’s/Robinsons May. I remember the second floor being carpeted. Sad that Amazon killed the shopping malls and the mom & pop shops
Sears department store at the Montclair Plaza had a automotive repair garage too. I work for Safelite Auto Glass in the early 2000s as a delivery driver. I would deliver windshields to our Safelite repair technicians who would install glass in peoples cars at the Sears garage. I was a good partnership Safelight Auto Glass and Sears. I would delivery about 5 windshields a day to our Techs at Sears.
@@HEYMANWITHJAYMAN Our Safelight techs did windshield replace in the garage area . I think my Company Safelight rented out a few bays in the garage area for our Safelight techs to do glass jobs
Who remembers when Holiday skating rink was across the street & the McD’s was built? I remember when us teenagers from MHS could smoke cigs in the mall.
The bird crap on your window was disracting. But I love your channel. I think everyone in the world should watch your channel. Because when you visit " LA " these are the malls and attracations you will visit. You should have a meetup day. Tell everyone to meet at 3rd street promenade. Then film the group walking around . nm.. That would take too long. U get my point, lol.
It used to be called Montclair plaza. It's been on the decline for over 10 years. The movie theater and lazy dog gets some of our family's business. The mall and other restaurants suck
This is my go to place. I love that it’s way cleaner and smells better than the mills.
I can’t be the only one trying to clean the bird poop off my device’s screen 😂 Great video besides that though.
Lol. I noticed it after i got on the feeway. I was like oh nooooooo
Same! 😂
This mall is still alive...Ontario Mills is busy and Victoria Gardens
Yeah all 3 are thriving
Just FYI: Route 66 (Or Foothill Blvd) is just 2 miles north of Montclair Place.
Oh ok that's why that photo op was there then. Thanks
I came to the comments just to enlighten him on that! 😂
We used to buy LA Rams tickets at the Ticketron window, at Sears. Great memories!
I was told about those windows. Wish i seen them open back in the day

I need to look up old photos of what it looked like back in the day vs now. Not my fav interior of a mall
Thank you for the tour. Once again, boy has it changed since I was last there.
@@newlexness 👍i only knew what the sears looked like. I can picture the mall being diff now vs back in the day
Who remembers when it was only 1 story? The buffet restaurant Hollanders had the best mac n cheese and cubed jello in goblets.
Yes! Bob's big boy restaurant! Arcade !
I was 7 when they added the second level over 1984-85! Was a huge improvement when it opened
lol and right away you answer my question about the "Place" thought it might had been a typo. wonder why it was changed. Thanks for sharing.
I guess like 9yrs ago it became Montclair Place vs Montclair Plaza. New owners??

@HEYMANWITHJAYMAN that was me !! I loved that fun Hickory Farms Christmas gig!! Super fun job and people I worked with
Are we going to just ignore the bird sh*t on the windshield? LOL. Great video. I worked at the Prints Plus store back in the late 80's.
@@fnaright it was ambiance. It added dimension to the video 😂 LOL

Alex jones went to Montclair Mall ? I love that mall. Barnes and Noble is where is at ❤
My new gig...mall vids - AJ..lol
Very sad - all malls will be close soon .
Re vamps won't save all of them.
Boy you don't know Jack! The Plaza is probably less than 2 miles from Foothill Blvd AKA=Route 66. Stick with your night time job foo.
@@aldo-228 you must be sticking to your day job cuz after your 3yrs on here NO vids
What's up with the cities of Montclair and Claremont being next to each other and named so similarly?
Maybe founder names of the area??
Original name of montclair was monte vista
My favorite store there when i was a kid was the Warner Bros store. Seeing the Gremlin statues up i. The ceiling was cool

I need to hit up Ontario Mills soon
My Old Stomping ground! In high school this was the go to mall for Us Kid's from Chino Hills Lol good time's good time's! ✌🏽

Bird crap is gone now...lol. had a meet up today. The crowd was amazing! Just kidding 😂 but a new video in the morning

15:13 omg clean up that glass
Lol yeah, i seen it when i got on the freeway.
I use to dj backyard parties pomona Valley Area though out parties flyers there in the 80's lot's of memories
It’s a shame you didn’t get to see it in its 80s/90s heyday. The latest rust colored “remodel” is hideous.
The big thing once, years ago? Cinnabon cinnamon rolls! Had long lines!
Love what's there, for nice stuff!
Name brands thru out it looked like
Route 66 is only a block away from the mall
The new “food hall” is a joke! The old food court (where the Canyon is/was now) was so much better and had way more eateries
ATM for discover cards developed by Sears financial Only place to use at first was sears.
Hmmm cool info
Can you go to anaheim plaza and record the in n out burger and the party city
I can. I go by there alot. Hope Party City doesnt have blairing music inside.
Ok
Thanks you
I miss Montclair Nordstrom!
Welcome to Montclair Place Mall.
Eagle shit on the windshield lol
Photo Op!(?)
I only went there for nordstroms, which is gone
I was a Sears guy. That was where i went
bird poop on windshield ....
It's pterodactyl poop...lol
Please 🙏
Looks the same but empty
Oh ok. I personally have no clue what it looked like back in the day
I use to living in upland ca
Maybe clean the bird crap off the windshield before shooting a video
What i say go to anaheim plaza
I have a video out for it
