Grandios!
¡Mil gracias!
This is a very good version. I’ve seen Walkure in many places: New York, San Francisco, London, Naples, Rotterdam, and upcoming is Vienna. I have thought about Bayreuth, but the concepts are so crazy, I don’t want to bother! Of course, the Chereau-Boulez-Jones-McIntyre is a great performance, and I also love the Schenk-Levine-Behrens-Morris traditional scene as well. I even liked the Met’s Lepage “Machine,” so I’m easy to please!
HAHAHAHA Barenboim's eyes at the end of the first act killed me lmao
For reference, 3:45:00
3:00 here it starts.
Io c’ero. Una cosa seria dopo tante sceneggiate volgari e pretenziose. Poi Baremboim mi ha relalato l’intero Ring in una settimana.
Jahrhundert Ring in Bayreuth.
Tried giving Wagner a shot, again. But it simply doesn't work. I'm returning to Mozart and Rossini.
i was exactly the same:Wagner "es faengt an, es hoert nie auf, es dauert nur" until I saw the whole Ring in Bayreuth last year (within 1 week) and I'm on!
@bennolerner truly happy for you, mate. I liked some somber parts of the Overture, and I continued listening. Some 20 minutes in I was like "where's the music"?
The Don, Idomeneo. Semiramide, Zelmira and others are my cup of tea.
Because you're listening to bad singers (well except for Tomlinson here). Listen to the third act of the 1951 Walküre with Karajan at Bayreuth or the Solti recording. It'll change your mind.
Stemme is absolutely trash as Brünnhilde. I recommend you to listen frida leider's Hojotoho that'll show you how great Wagner is when it's sung by good singers.
This production is also really weird so it may not be a good start with listening to Wagner.
@@mdrakic It might come when you're older.(I,m 70)
@bennolerner I've been listening to classical music for 30 years, and Opera for 25. Have given modern takes several tries, it doesn't fly.
I am open for suggestions though, so please help me understand Wagner and pass on a link or three with some really nice music, aria, or multiple voices, and I wouldbe glad to five it another try. Thanks.
