Good stuff Dan, and I literally have made a start on doing this recently, using containers for Carrots, Parsnips, and even Root Parsley, as the crop is greater and more vigorous than what I used to grow, which was Potatoes.
Once taught a group of women how to get higher germination rates. Best knowledge I ever game. Btw soak them in water until they sink if they don't sink they're dead and won't grow.
They did well. Very important of course when transplanting they are put in straight. I wanted to include the footage in the video but I lost it somehow. It might be on some storage somewhere here so will have a look through. If not, I will repeat this again this year and make another video on the subject
Chantenay carrots short snuff.. Have you ever tried to grow these? Just bought some seeds and going to try my hand at growing them in a container. Cheers
Never knew you could do this with carrots. I will say they're a lot tougher than I thought. I missed a few a 2 summers ago and they actually came up this last spring and flowered, now that's in -40-degree Fahrenheit North Dakota winters.
I grew the same variety and despite abusing them by not thinning out much, got a reasonable crop. I think they just want to grow, so great for limited space growing for a smaller size. I may go for a giant next year.
My carrots were rubbish for two seasons on the trot. They were really tiny. They looked great to start, but then they just seemed to stop growing. One year I kept their containers in my poly tunnel, the next year I put them in out in raised beds, but they never grew well. I had finger sized carrots. Well, never give up! I will have another go this year. Third time lucky? 🤔
That's just proved carrots can be moved - wonderful Dan. Thank you so much!
My pleasure Amanda.
@@homegardens7682 I can't wait to try it!

Oh yes, container growing can be great.
Top bloke 👏 I've been doing vegetables for a few years now but now gonna give carrots a go
Go for it.
Happy New Year Dan, best wishes to you and your channel for 2023
Same to you to. Happy New Year!
Valuable knowledge. The women love their plants/flowers!

They need tapping past the water tension too.
No longer than 24hrs or they'll drown.
Thankyou for your comments.
Happy New Year Dan!😃 Nice carrots and tutorial!👍
Thanks Valorie. Happy New Year!
What size poly tunnel do you have? Thanks
3X2 metres.
Thankyou
Great video.👍🥕
Cheers Jen ( I presume that is your name!).
How did the transplanted carrots fair?
Was just wondering the same. I assume. The carrots you pulled were from the original bucket? Would be great to know how well the transplants went.

They look cool. Great if one has heavy stony soil maybe. Let me know how you get on.
@Home Gardens I got you. I bought because on the seed packet says works well in Pots. Any varieties you'd recommend for a beginner?
Not really. Just a variety that interests you and suits your conditions. Maybe try a few varieties if you have space.
@@homegardens7682 good deal!

Wow that's cold. Yes, they are rather hardy, I left some in the ground here and the squirrels were eating them during a snowy period a few weeks ago.
Well done
Thank you

Indeed. Certainly a vigorous variety Denise. I may do the same. We can see how we both do.
@@homegardens7682 I've overwintered a few to see how they do. Will let you know. Great for an early spring crop
@@UpthePottingShed Yes, I should have done that really. Will be great to see how they do.

@@homegardens7682 Now that I'm back in the UK I can do exactly what you do and hopefully I will cease being a carrot serial killer. 😄
