South Goa MP Captain Viriato appointed to India’s Defence Committee

South Goa MP Captain Viriato Fernandes has been nominated to India's Defence Committee. The Parliamentary Secretariat released the list of nominees, which includes Opposition leader, Congress MP Rahul Gandhi. Captain Viriato's nomination is seen as a significant milestone, owing to his 26-year tenure in the Navy and his experience in the Kargil war. He is the only war hero in the current Lok Sabha and has been decorated with the Vijay Star medal.
