Waiting on my disto to come in. In the mean time I tried the sketch AR and LiDAR on iPad. Worked fine for measurement for me but each time I went to a new room it made that room a new level is there a way around that?? Thank you enjoying your vids. You’re a natural teacher!
I’m not a good one to ask on the LiDAR as I am not a fan. I am much faster with the DISTO. I had an xactimate trainer at NACA last year show us why he doesn’t use LiDAR and he did mention the issue with going from one room to the next. Couldn’t tell you exactly what the issue was but I believe it was what you are speaking on! Also if you have obstacles on the room or obstructions due to a hurricane obliterating the home, it’s hard to walk around the entire room like that. You cant go wrong with the DISTO in any situation in my humble opinion. Also I appreciate the compliment greatly. Don’t really enjoy the camera but I just felt like there was nothing out there to help people interested in mobile. Seems like there is a resistance to mobile and I think it’s just the typical “afraid of change” we all are prisoners of at times. Feel free to reach out anytime with questions and I’ll do my best!
You need to press “resume” not new when you choose to add a new room/connect neighboring room. Then it will ask which doorway you walked in from and then from there in self explanatory.
Hey Neil, question for you. I see you don't recommend the Leica Disto E7100i but instead the higher grade ones. Of course the more features the better, however, if I can save some money, is there any reason i HAVE to get the better ones opposed to settling for this one for now? Would love your input on this. So sorry I missed this, my friend. I purely got the better model in attempt to get fence measurements when it’s a wood fence and I have a solid surface I can shoot the laser to. I used the base model DISTO for a year and it worked great! I think one day it wouldn’t connect and I’m very impatient so I bought a big boy 👦 Definitely grab that base model and rock with that until you have some storm money to make the jump up again, in my opinion.
The chubby buttons is the best Bluetooth clicker on the market for our profession, the durability and ease of use makes it the best I have personally had mine for 2 years without an issue besides changing the battery here and there. This allows you to keep one hand free while taking photos as well as just makes the process easier and more streamline The Disto is a laser tape measure the syncs via Bluetooth to Xactimate mobile allowing you to sketch and then estimate in the field. I agree sketch AR is not as good as sketching. I will say that for complex losses like a fire or major tornado Matterport and sketch over underlay rules. I’ve checked the measurements and with the true lidar of pro 3 it’s just as accurate
This has been an issue for all of us. It doesn’t work right now. Only turns the volume up. My work around is taking them outside of the app and then uploading right after the job, in my truck. That is when I will drop them in the correct folders and get them labeled as well. It doesn't add really too much time to the process and works for now. If you could jump in to a live chat with Xactimate and let them know you would like this fixed, that would be awesome. The more "complaints" they get, the higher the issue goes up the to-do list, is what I was told by their staff. I will make sure to say something at the next conference I see them at and we all should do the same!
No matter how many times I have tried AR Sketch with my 2020 iPad pro, it's always off. I didn't know about the need to be 90 deg from the wall. I just tried again and same results. Just not accurate. I stand behind my D2 ipad mini 6 for speed AND accuracy for residential properties.
My Brother! Great minds think alike! Could not agree more. I FLY through my interior sketch and estimate and it always impresses the insured/client. Makes the whole process go so smoother in my opinion. More trust that you are the right guy for the job when they see the process at work. Especially for a homeowner who has been through the claims process before!
Double down on the "square to wall" and the rooms not joining when you go through a door. Your final sketch is a bunch of disjointed / disconnected rooms. I was sorely disappointed.

You’re not alone I’m not having any luck with LiDAR either. Just copped the disto x3 and I kinda suck with that too😭

Could not agree more, my friend! I don't see myself using Lidar even when it comes around and is flawless. The speed with my disto is unmatched.
