My 99 f150 was fine yesterday had brake lights. Went to use it today and nothing..has turn signals, running lights, license plate lights..but no brake lights. I have checked both fuse boxes under dash and engine bay and all fuses are good. I'm leaning towards the switch being bad thank you for the video showing the bridge is so helpful because it eliminate alot of Hassel

I've done exactly as u instructed and it drive fine..lights ,windows, all worked, and I was able to shift out of park. Yesterday at 9pm. Today at 11 ..crank truck, and the fuse blew again. The 5 Amp fuse that linked to brake.

I have a question. My friend had no brake lights. He replaced the brake switch and afterwards used the truck immediately after. He at that point smelled burnt wires and noticed the orange wires at the brake switch were burned. Can you give any advice were those orange wires go to from the brake switch so I can help him diagnose the problem. Thanks for the informative video!
Thank you! My 2003 f150 brake lights are not working (replaced bulbs tonight) and only the 3rd brake light is working. So I’m gonna try to test these other steps.
2000 f150 ext cab. My rear turn signals and brake lights stopped working. Front signals hyper flash. 4 ways work at normal speed, but only in the front. Bulbs are fine (both filaments). I changed flasher relay, checked all fuses, checked, wiggled and cleaned the connection that is near the rear bumper, I changed the multifunction switch, and wiggled the wires on the harness it connects to. I did not find any loose ones. I also removed, cleaned and replaced the ground wire that connects to the frame near the rear bumper. None of these things fixed the problem. Could this be a problem with the brake light switch?
My problem is that I have to press the break pedal more deep in order to get light in the back ! I I don’t like that , before I just to press the pedal normal and the light will come on
I know your not a on call technician, but my 02 f150's blinkers and park light come on, but not my brake lights. I tried connecting the green and green and brown together, I checked all the relevant fuses (and then some, and replaced the bulbs. Do you think it is a wiring issue?
Awesome video! It’s cool that you know how the circuitry works. I have a 2000 F150. The brake lights suddenly came on while the truck was off. And they stay on (I have to disconnect my battery). The turn signals work. But the brake lights are on constantly; pressing on the brakes makes no change and they stay on even when the truck is off. Do you think the switch is the issue? Thanks!
It is very likely that the problem is cause by a failed brake light switch. I would disconnected the switch and see if the lights remain on. Also try grabbing the brake pedal and pulling it towards you. If they turn off then replace the switch. If they remain on, there could be a few causes. Messed up wiring at a trailer plug would by my #1 guess. Thanks for watching and good luck getting your truck sorted out.

I have another one, another brand my neighbor hooked me up with, but haven’t got around the installing it. So as of now, I still disconnect the battery when I’m not using it.

Lehew Tech I tried turning the hazards on a bunch of times to see if it was the issue, but it didn’t correct the no brake lights in the 2 lowest positions of my steering column. I did check the bulbs they seemed fine, so did both the fuses related to the brake lights. I’m wondering if it’s the multifunction switch, the one for the hazards, and windshield wipers, maybe it’s worn out, or burning out. Once and a while my windshield washer fluid comes on for no reason. So far I’m still driving it, I’ve even asked a couple people to check if the brake lights were still working, just for positive reinforcements before I leave when it’s dark.

Brake light switch is only for brake lights. If your turn signals are effected it’s the one on the steering column and not on the brake pedal lever.

Crazy question. My Cruise fails intermittently. Could this switch have anything to do with it?

Turn your hazards on and of many times then see if the lights work. Have you checked your bulbs?
