    Thank you for the footage of the pronghorn early in the video. This is an iconic species of the American West. I don't have the words to describe the fantastic quality of the rest of this video.

      One of America's deadliest snakes. They have long legs for chasing their prey, and use the horns to flip them over or gouge them.

    Gorgeous videos as always! I'm from Texas and have mainly just seen cotton mouths. The copperheads are so well camouflaged u can't see them most of the time! My favorite snake from the U.S. is the Eastern Diamondback!

      Growing up in New England, we saw the Eastern Black Racers from time to time, and although I have caught and handled most of the non venomous wild snakes of the region, we could never catch a Black Racer as they are extremely fast! Full grown they can easily reach 5 feet in length.

      Growing up in New England I frequently saw Eastern Black Racers in meadows and fields especially near cow pastures ---- but try as we might we could never catch one. They are extremely fast! I saw one crossing a road last year and it was easily 5 feet long. I have caught and handled most of the 14 wild snake species of my area, but I've never seen a timber rattler or a copperhead, our only 2 venomous species.

    • @pipermoonshine
      @pipermoonshine ปีที่แล้ว

      @@goodun2974 when I was 12 or 13 I caught a black racer. He was shinny black and it was a fluke that I caught him. they are fast and that is where the name racer comes from. I was lucky he didn't bite me. But he was awesome. they are fast. very fast but for some reason I was faster.

    • @goodun2974
      @goodun2974 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pipermoonshine , one of our neighbors had a stone retaining wall that also functioned as the steps up to their front door. You could look into the gaps between the irregular stones and see the shiny thick body of a black racer moving around in there, probably two inches thick. It was a perfect habitat for that snake, as there was a small but deep pond in the front yard, and a cow pasture and fallow meadow across the street where we sometimes saw and chased these black racers. I have caught and handled nearly all of our indigenous, non-venomous snakes ---- we caught garter, ribbon, green, ringnecked, hognosed, milk, corn, water and scarlet king snakes --- but not the racers! We also caught various aquatic turtles, land tortoises, frogs, salamanders and newts, but never caught a skink, and only saw them a couple of times ---- they were perhaps even faster than the racers. We kept a water snake in a tank for a while and woke up up one morning to discover it had given birth to 28 babies!
