Okay. So I wanted to go ahead and put a comment out there because there seems to be a lot of comments talking about their console being messed up. So I wanted to put this out there pretty clearly. If you go ripping stuff off of your console, chances are, you're probably going to screw it up. For the people with WiFi issues, you were too rough with how you took it apart. Check out the video... am I ripping those antennas off? No, I'm not. I even clearly say use your fingernails to just pop it off. And just so we all understand, I still use this exact same console as a tester to this very day and the WiFi works perfectly. So no, I did not show you how to break your console, and it is not my fault that you decided to take apart a delicate piece of electronic equipment without understanding that you need to be careful. Lastly, I clearly mention, and multiple times I might add, that you should be careful when working with that front face plate ribbon and to not rip the console around while that is still attached. So just to reiterate, I am sorry if something bad happened to your console, I know that sucks, but nothing I did in this video will cause you to break your console. Just because you didn't do something like I showed you or you were a little more rough with something that you should have been, doesn't mean it was someone else's fault, though part of me does understand why people try everything they can to make something not their own fault.
Tinker Mods yup I just ripped that little cord at the front and it won't turn on anymore.. the panel fell off the surface I was using and snapped it, I doubt I'll get a reply here, but what's that cord called? How can it be fixed/reinstalled?
It is called a flex ribbon. You can buy a replacement but it is difficult to install. You can also just buy a replacement faceplate that has the flex ribbon ready to connect
Because of $$$ .. if cars were easy to fix there would be allot less mechanics and allot less units. If systems were easy to fix less systems would be made and less would sold

I had that and tbh when it would go half way or sometimes it soul be like right in the edge I literally would push it in with a pencil and it would come out fine I did this enough time swapping disc that well now when i put the disc it just makes a wierd noise and bam just sucks it in been doing this for like a year all my discs are fine and they go in now without haveing to force it with the pencil

Took my first shot at this yesterday. The opposite back corner was the hardest part to release. That cable on the front can be unplugged. It has an unusual design....a part that loops around behind the connector. If you lift the back of the loop, and release the catches on the sides, it unplugs easily. Definitely should be easier to open.

To remove the band, the piece it is clipped into on the main condole, pull both sides of the tabs in the direction towards the power button. The band is pressure held in place. Once the tab is open on both sides, carefully remove the band from the tab.

This worked great, unfortunately I did break the sync ribbon when I was removing the case but I managed to get my Xbox working again and u can sync a controller with a usb cable

had butter all the way over the entire board, top and bottom, buy leaving a stick on top of the thing while cooking and forgetting about it over night with a woodstove... managed to open it up, clean it with a spray bottle series of alcohol, soapy water, then clean water... not prefect, but at least no longer pooling...butter.. i think i got it back together right except one deep screw mount broke when i took it apart. great video, best one i saw.

In order for designers at Microsoft to make more seamless designs, it needs to have rock solid seams. thankfully they didn't need to do that with the One X just by design. I also need to mention that I had no trouble disassembling my original Xbox One.
I do recommend tool preparation, a tripod, better lighting, soap and warm water with intensive scrubbing for at least 30 seconds, nail clippers, a nail file, and hand lotion. That is all.

The wifi & console shut downs will progressively get worse until permanent console death... there is no cure! However, you can treat the symptoms via trouble shooting your console (reboot) or getting in touch with xbox.com/support. And or contacting your ISP to troubleshoot your modem/router to make sure it is servicing everything on your home network, in this case your xb1.

Thank you so much for this. I'm getting ready to sell my pre-owned xbox one Halo special edition console, & somehow the front corner near the disc tray popped loose. I'm not sure if I bought it that way, or if maybe it happened during the many trips I've taken it on, but simply figuring out how to pop the side panel off made it SOOO much easier to pop back in. Probably added at least $20-$50 to the value by fixing this cosmetic issue!
The ribbon on the face plate is very common in laptops. They can be removed easily if you know how too. As for the comments. Use medical/laytex gloves. This will stop dirt/grease transfer onto electrical components such as the Wifi card. You need to use force (without brutality) to take the top off. But when handling the wires and electronics, you need to be sensitive. (Think about trying to pick up sharp broken glass without cutting yourself, you need to have grip but slow and gentle).
@@PaigeFord-wg2lu sometimes ribbons are held in place with pieces of tape. If that is what you mean, then it's not a problem, just use electrical tape to stick it back. If the actual ribbon has peeled apart (ie. The ribbon is in 2 pieces) then that's not got good and it will need replacing.

UK model likely has different torx screws, T10 for top screws (though T8 will fit with a little play). T8 not small enough for the front three that clip the green circuit board to the front (can;t say which size as my smaller drivers were "borrowed" and not returned. Also recommend car facia removal tools for unclipping the plastic casing, full set costs very little on ebay and perfect for not damaging plastic on all sorts of equipment.
story time, so a while ago i was looking for tutorials to take apart snd clean my xbox since there has been a dust buildup, I took it apart and When i put it back together i had connection issues with my Controller I suspect it was the ribbon i was not careful with, Today i revisited this video for the instructions To take it apart and put it back together, I fixed the Ribbons Connection and now my controller has a steady and stable connection So Lesson Learned. *Be super careful with the ribbon* And thanks for making this video 🤝

Why do this when you can just plug in the back, an external 2tb portable hard drive with a short usb cable. Get some Velcro adhesive strips and put them on the bottom of the drive and the top of your xbox. Works great, plus then i can bring ONLY my hard drive with me when i go to a friends house (since there are two consoles) and I have everything with me. I have a hotspot (unlimited) from my phone so i can even take my drive and update on someones wifi network so I don't get throttled.

Thanks dude! awesome video, that round thing on top is the speaker, and you also said that the front panel is connected. This can be removed but it is tricky, the plastic hook at the end of the ribbon slides back on and can be reattached

Yes that ribbon is removable.. same as the Xbox slim... Jus lift up the flap an slightly pull up the to side plastic things or edges rather an that's it ribbon slides out easily
just had the same problem, i struggled a lot an got to the brink of breaking the shit out of the xbox xD, all you have to do is make sure you put it on starting with the front, be careful not to break any plastic teeth. try to look at how you took it apart, it's all the way around after all. Hope it helps someone :)
cant you just pop out the top fan grill, its very dirty and the cleaning spray pressure spray doesnt completely get out the dust,so i was wondering how to remove only the top grill only

My Xbox One disconnects at least every 10 or so minutes especially when I'm in a party or playing online. Does this mean the wifi board is messed up?

Buy the Advanced Warfare Xbox One, The game sucks but it comes with 1Terabyte and its a awesome design
Why do this when you can just plug in the back, an external 2tb portable hard drive with a short usb cable. Get some Velcro adhesive strips and put them on the bottom of the drive and the top of your xbox. Works great, plus then i can bring ONLY my hard drive with me when i go to a friends house (since there are two consoles) and I have everything with me. I have a hotspot (unlimited) from my phone so i can even take my drive and update on someones wifi network so I don't get throttled.
Hey seeking some advice, I was taking mine apart because my Xbox wouldn’t stay on as I turned it on it kept turning itself off and I was gonna clean it out because I have tried everything to get it to work except taking it apart. And in the process of taking it apart now it won’t read my touch to turn it on. Nothing on the front interface works touch wise disc or power, any tips?
i’ve never opened mines and i’ve had it for 5 years and it’s crazy loud and i just wanna make it stop😂

Thanks dude! awesome video, that round thing on top is the speaker, and you also said that the front panel is connected. This can be removed but it is tricky, the plastic hook at the end of the ribbon slides back on and can be reattached

thanks a lot! my xbox broke for no apparent reason and i had a disc stuck in it still. the manuel eject wasn’t working for whatever reason either so i just ripped it apart and grabbed my disc from the blu ray player. again, tysm!
I took it apart, exactly how this guy did it, and now I can't get the face plate to close all the way. I seriously hope it's not fucked up after this.

Had the same trouble. Separating the faceplate from the lid, then installing the faceplate, then the lid did the trick.
Its very hard to line up right. Took me like 30 minutes to get back on, just be gentle with and work the hatches right
Yes that ribbon is removable.. same as the Xbox slim... Jus lift up the flap an slightly pull up the to side plastic things or edges rather an that's it ribbon slides out easily

just had the same problem, i struggled a lot an got to the brink of breaking the shit out of the xbox xD, all you have to do is make sure you put it on starting with the front, be careful not to break any plastic teeth. try to look at how you took it apart, it's all the way around after all. Hope it helps someone :)

Bah almost broke my shit.. was trying to figure out the disc reading error on my tray, doesnt even play brand new games (states its too scratched). Best solution is to just get a Playstation.. I've had mines since day one and have yet to have any issues besides the black screen hiccups. This is my second xbox1 that broke on me (with the same disc reading error) and will not be getting another xbox ever again
