it's a shame he went first. he had such a cool personality, a cool design and pretty much everything you'd like in a character. they only killed him off because they drew him first and got tired of drawing him, i miss leon...
fact: leon and sayaka were the first two to be created to the point where the devs got so annoyed at the sight of the two so they killed them first just because they hated seeing them

@@someonerandom130 if you were in his shoes, you wouldve killed her too. I mean. What if she would come back to you and kill you? What if she will frame you? Theres lots of things you wouldve done in his position, and since you knew whats gonna happen if you do so already, youd choose to be a saint and decide that you wouldnt do what he did.
(For people who haven't read the manga) Fact: Sayaka's torso-stab wound was entirely on accident. Leon only deflected her attacks, then after she ran into the bathroom, he tried to calm her down and even offered to talk it out. Once he got the door opened, she begged him not to kill her, and he told her he wouldn't. Unfortunately, his trying to get the knife out of her hands with her fighting back led to the impalement. After that, he felt like he didn't have any other choice but to finish it. Leon isn't completely out of the wrong, he still killed her, but he definitely did not deserve what he got.
... Except the manga isn't canon since the creator of the series had no involvement in the manga. So, anything that's in the manga, but not in the game or anime isn't canon.
but it isnt in the game, in the game, she "locked" herself in the bathroom and leon forcefully went in and killed her, sp he is still a murderer that persisted with the kill and didnt back off, so he is kinda brutal and cold-blooded
Leon and Sayaka were both pretty good, but I can understand the designers getting sick of them since they were used as the base for every other character. :)
His execution was by far the most heartbreaking for me. Not only did Leon totally not deserve what he got, but hearing him beg for his life was crushing, and the way he died seemed like one of the most brutal, blunt force trauma is horrific. Although, maybe it's extra gut-wrenching because his VA did almost the exact same voice for him and Kirishima, so hearing essentially blue-eyed Kirishima begging for his life is... something. Yeah I know I'm probably too emotionally invested in anime rn but we're in quarantine what else is there lmao
But the fact that he *came back* and then killed Sayaka means that hes guilty. But we where on his side till that moment. Asking questions like "Why did he do it?" Or "Theres a way to give him a chance right?" But no. Thats the game, He killed her. Now he has to pay the price, now matter your attachment,love,his kindness, or him having some spiritual connection as a character. He killed someone, so its his job. And again, you connect with him. So seeing his AGONY in his final moments makes you wonder how much PAIN and SUFFERING hes going through. And the fact its Kiri's VA makes a cherry on the already flavorful cake of despair. Cause you see Kiri as a hero, a friend, a relatable character, and never giving up in despair. But seeing not 1, but 2 of the same person you like being tormented is just an awful feeling. But hey, isint thats what Danganronpa is all about?

He could be able to survive, But I think Monokuma could easily kill him off if he was still alive. Not being able to defend himself due to his aching arms and legs and all. Little fun fact about my reaction to his death: I used to play softball when I was younger, and seeing his death by being PELTED WITH BASEBALLS was why his death scared me the most out of the game. As a kid, I was terrified of the machines the couches used to shoot balls for us to hit, and I hated when I got hit with baseballs. It hurts. Him being pelted to death by baseballs just made me want to.. cry? I loved Leon and this death was unique but it just triggered something inside me that made me have to look away for a minute. The after-trial scene was impressively DE-pressing. Even more so than in the visual novel since they're not limited to a limited number of sprites, Leon's tearful breakdown was gut-wrenching to watch because of the sheer _fear_ in his voice. He didn't sound angry, he sounded _desperate_ to plead his case instead of just being labeled as a killer.
What's worse is that's it in the canon manga (which gives points that Makoto couldn't label), Leon didn't *actually* kill Sayaka, and that she thrashed into her own knife. Not even Monokuma could see what really happened since there were no cameras in the bathroom. The reason Leon said it was self defense was because he knew nobody would believe him, thinking that if he said it was self defense, Monokuma would let him off the hook. Poco Loco I hate Sayaka, I feel bad for him to be honest. I mean the crazy bitch tried to kill him. He *could have* gone back to his room, but would you even consider that when someone was trying to kill you? She could have framed him, or really anything else.
Leon is such a relatable character. Down to his personality to his reaction to being discovered and knowing he is going to be murdered. While most other victims would accept their defeat, he collapsed onto the ground and had a full on panic attack. Anyone who claims they wouldn’t have that kind of reaction is likely lying. Leon Kuwata is very under appreciated. Even though he had the chance to not kill Sayaka but did it anyway, I still feel awful for him. He’s only human.
If Leon had just ran away and tell the others after braking Sayaka's wrist, It would count as Sayaka not getting away with murder. Thus, she would get executed.
When he started crying, sitting on his knees, the entire Danganronpa has proven itself. That's definitely a reaction of a teenager who once lived a normal life, but got in this sorry of a school life.

Especially since he states he was considering staying in his room that way it could be argued against Sayaka that Leon shattering her right wrist was him defending himself against a manipulative psychotic attacker remember it was revealed that Sayaka's plan was murder Leon in Makoto's room and have Makoto be successfully framed for it. So as he was trying to explain that he was caught between a rock and a hard place aka a lose-lose situation it was either let Sayaka remain alive and failing to argue self-defense due to her using Makoto as a way to get him and everyone else to distrust him, therefore giving Sayaka more then enough time to make a new plot to murder him, or a plot to murder either Makoto, or anyone else in the group, or finish her off and not give her a chance to try and weasel out and try a murder plot again. Again his argument for mercy was him trying to protect himself and everyone else from a as he put it "manipulative psychotic bitch".

It was NOT self-defense, he broke into a bathroom to murder a defenseless girl. Even if she tried to kill him earlier, she long-since stopped being a threat. I agree that he didn't deserve it, but for a different reason (for the same reason Sayaka didn't deserve it actually). The Bear's game was simply too much for him.
Due to how to brutal this execution was they actually censor it in the anime by not showing the aftermath/body reveal, yeah in the game Trigger Happy Havoc they actually show the aftermath and let's just say I don't blame the producers of Danganronpa: The Animation making the decision to have the aftermath censored aka not showing Leon's badly bruised, and badly mangled body because seeing the aftermath of Leon's execution was one of the F'd up scenes in Trigger Happy Havoc.

Sayaka wasn't a snake, she was a scared teenager just like everyone else there who wanted to make sure her friends (her Idol troupe) - who were like family to her - were safe, plus, she never made it to trial, so she never knew about the "everyone else dies if they can't figure out" whodunit"" rule, so she didn't know she'd be damning everyone else to a brutal death, odds are her thought process was: >kill 11037 >frame Naegi >escape >check on her friends > get help > save everyone > Apologise to Naegi > accept the consequences for murder (Monokuma would've told them it was her) As for 11037, while breaking Sayaka's wrist was fair game, THAT was self defence since she was coming at him with a kitchen knife, the moment she hid in the bathroom and he left to go back to his room, that should've been the end of it, that being self defence I can buy. However, what's NOT self defense is him grabbing his issued toolkit, going all the way back to Naegi/Maizono's room, breaking down the door, and finishing the job, heck, love her or hate her, Celeste points this out to him and us post trial, if I remember, she said something along the lines of: "you had every chance to stop what you were doing, every chance to turn back, but did you? No." Neither are blameless victims in this case, although if blame should be placed anywhere, it should be on Monokuma/Junko for putting them in that situation to begin with.

Granted, he did purposely go to his room to get a toolkit and break into Makoto’s bathroom, but if he had just locked himself in his dorm and hid for the rest of the night, it probably would’ve made things worse for him. Come morning, Sayaka would claim that Leon attacked her first, and almost everyone would believe her. After all, who are you more likely to believe? A popular girl idol with visible attack wounds, or a random boy with no alibi whatsoever? Sure, Hina and Sakura saw Sayaka enter and leave the kitchen, and Leon could have shown everyone the note Sayaka gave him, but those alone couldn’t prove Sayaka a lier. Almost everyone would have wanted to kill Leon. In the end, he was just a terrified kid who desperately wanted to go home, he didn’t want to die in the academy with everyone hating him. He’s definitely not innocent, but you can’t deny it’s hard to blame him for what he did

The beginning of Leon’s execution actually gets me the most. He looks desperately to everyone for help but is only met with cold stares. The change in his facial expression is heartbreaking as he realizes that no one’s going to help him and he’s truly about to die. He must have felt not only betrayed by Sayaka, but abandoned by the whole group in his final moments.

leons death truly hurt me the most. not only was he my favorite character, but he didnt deserve it and he had so much to live for. of course he isnt completely innocent as he still killed and of course the other characters had lots to live for too, but he was different. in the ending where all the students leave peacefully at the price of giving up their talent, leon was the only one who was happy to. he was the only one who had something to work for without his talent, and im betting he was the only one willing to start from square one to get a talent, a talent he would be happy with. he was the only one willing to change for himself to be happy and not just stick with a talent he didnt like, which is why i say he had much to live for. he was the most realistic character there was. in the manga version, leon didn't want to kill sayaka, he didn't even think about it. he wanted to help her. he stayed after she tried to murder him and after she locked herself in the bathroom. he stayed to try and comfort her and get her to calm down, rather than running away to tell on her or save himself. i think for him to try and help the person who tried to end his life is such an admirable thing. the manga may not be canon, but it did a good job at showing leon's personality and character from what is canon. and because of this version of chapter 1, i think leon didn't deserve to be executed like that. the canon versions however, i still think leon didn't deserve to get punished. yes, killing someone in an act of defense is still killing someone, but he didn't have a choice. we can see how manipulative sayaka could be when she had got makoto to switch rooms with her, pretending to be scared and lying about someone at her door. taking advantage of his kindness the fact she was closely acquainted with him. with just a few words and some acting, sayaka could've so easily turned the whole class against leon and painted him as a bad guy. killing sayaka was the easiest way to keep himself safe. if she lived and lied to the class, he would be in trouble. if she lived and didn't say anything, there would still be a chance she would go after him again, he would be in trouble. he did it to be safe, even if it was only for a bit more time. so yeah, leon was a nice realistic and great character (despite only being there for one chapter). and i really think he didn't deserve to die and should've survived, or at least live past chapter 1. this is just my opinion btw and you're free to think something else of him. but this is what i think.

Fact: Sayaka's torso-stab wound was entirely on accident. Leon only deflected her attacks, then after she ran into the bathroom, he tried to calm her down and even offered to talk it out. Once he got the door opened, she begged him not to kill her, and he told her he wouldn't. Unfortunately, his trying to get the knife out of her hands with her fighting back led to the impalement. After that, he felt like he didn't have any other choice but to finish it. Leon isn't completely out of the wrong, he still killed her, but he definitely did not deserve what he got.

His execution was by far the most heartbreaking for me. Not only did Leon totally not deserve what he got, but hearing him beg for his life was crushing, and the way he died seemed like one of the most brutal, blunt force trauma is horrific. Although, maybe it's extra gut-wrenching because his VA did almost the exact same voice for him and Kirishima, so hearing essentially blue-eyed Kirishima begging for his life is... something.

Now he has to pay the price, now matter your attachment,love,his kindness, or him having some spiritual connection as a character. He killed someone, so its his job. And again, you connect with him. So seeing his AGONY in his final moments makes you wonder how much PAIN and SUFFERING hes going through. And the fact its Kiri's VA makes a cherry on the already flavorful cake of despair. Cause you see Kiri as a hero, a friend, a relatable character, and never giving up in despair. But seeing not 1, but 2 of the same person you like being tormented is just an awful feeling. But hey, isint thats what Danganronpa is all about?

Little fun fact about my reaction to his death:
I used to play softball when I was younger, and seeing his death by being PELTED WITH BASEBALLS was why his death scared me the most out of the game.
As a kid, I was terrified of the machines the couches used to shoot balls for us to hit, and I hated when I got hit with baseballs. It hurts. Him being pelted to death by baseballs just made me want to.. cry? I loved Leon and this death was unique but it just triggered something inside me that made me have to look away for a minute.

The after-trial scene was impressively DE-pressing. Even more so than in the visual novel since they're not limited to a limited number of sprites, Leon's tearful breakdown was gut-wrenching to watch because of the sheer _fear_ in his voice. He didn't sound angry, he sounded _desperate_ to plead his case instead of just being labeled as a killer.
It's one of the few reasons I go back to watch the anime. Just seeing everyone's reactions to the trial results.
What's worse is that's it in the canon manga (which gives points that Makoto couldn't label), Leon didn't *actually* kill Sayaka, and that she thrashed into her own knife. Not even Monokuma could see what really happened since there were no cameras in the bathroom. The reason Leon said it was self defense was because he knew nobody would believe him, thinking that if he said it was self defense, Monokuma would let him off the hook. Man, Leon's design was WASTED😭 He really didn't need to die.

Leon is such a relatable character. Down to his personality to his reaction to being discovered and knowing he is going to be murdered. While most other victims would accept their defeat, he collapsed onto the ground and had a full on panic attack. Anyone who claims they wouldn’t have that kind of reaction is likely lying. Leon Kuwata is very under appreciated. Even though he had the chance to not kill Sayaka but did it anyway, I still feel awful for him. He’s only human.

So as he was trying to explain that he was caught between a rock and a hard place aka a lose-lose situation it was either let Sayaka remain alive and failing to argue self-defense due to her using Makoto as a way to get him and everyone else to distrust him, therefore giving Sayaka more then enough time to make a new plot to murder him, or a plot to murder either Makoto, or anyone else in the group, or finish her off and not give her a chance to try and weasel out and try a murder plot again. Again his argument for mercy was him trying to protect himself and everyone else from a as he put it "manipulative psychotic bitch".

Watching Leon's death makes me fill sadder than I watched for the first time, he didn't deserve it.
It was NOT self-defense, he broke into a bathroom to murder a defenseless girl. Even if she tried to kill him earlier, she long-since stopped being a threat. I agree that he didn't deserve it, but for a different reason (for the same reason Sayaka didn't deserve it actually). The Bear's game was simply too much for him.

Due to how to brutal this execution was they actually censor it in the anime by not showing the aftermath/body reveal, yeah in the game Trigger Happy Havoc they actually show the aftermath and let's just say I don't blame the producers of Danganronpa: The Animation making the decision to have the aftermath censored aka not showing Leon's badly bruised, and badly mangled body because seeing the aftermath of Leon's execution was one of the F'd up scenes in Trigger Happy Havoc.

Sayaka wasn't a snake, she was a scared teenager just like everyone else there who wanted to make sure her friends (her Idol troupe) - who were like family to her - were safe, plus, she never made it to trial, so she never knew about the "everyone else dies if they can't figure out" whodunit"" rule, so she didn't know she'd be damning everyone else to a brutal death, odds are her thought process was:
>kill 11037
>frame Naegi
>escape
>check on her friends
> get help
> save everyone
> Apologise to Naegi
> accept the consequences for murder (Monokuma would've told them it was her)
As for 11037, while breaking Sayaka's wrist was fair game, THAT was self defence since she was coming at him with a kitchen knife, the moment she hid in the bathroom and he left to go back to his room, that should've been the end of it, that being self defence I can buy.
However, what's NOT self defense is him grabbing his issued toolkit, going all the way back to Naegi/Maizono's room, breaking down the door, and finishing the job, heck, love her or hate her, Celeste points this out to him and us post trial, if I remember, she said something along the lines of: "you had every chance to stop what you were doing, every chance to turn back, but did you? No."
Neither are blameless victims in this case, although if blame should be placed anywhere, it should be on Monokuma/Junko for putting them in that situation to begin with.
Well Leon didn’t have to kill her, while her wrist was broken he could have just went back to his room that way Sayaka would have probably respected him and they would still be alive.

Granted, he did purposely go to his room to get a toolkit and break into Makoto’s bathroom, but if he had just locked himself in his dorm and hid for the rest of the night, it probably would’ve made things worse for him. Come morning, Sayaka would claim that Leon attacked her first, and almost everyone would believe her. After all, who are you more likely to believe? A popular girl idol with visible attack wounds, or a random boy with no alibi whatsoever? Sure, Hina and Sakura saw Sayaka enter and leave the kitchen, and Leon could have shown everyone the note Sayaka gave him, but those alone couldn’t prove Sayaka a lier. Almost everyone would have wanted to kill Leon. In the end, he was just a terrified kid who desperately wanted to go home, he didn’t want to die in the academy with everyone hating him. He’s definitely not innocent, but you can’t deny it’s hard to blame him for what he did

The beginning of Leon’s execution actually gets me the most. He looks desperately to everyone for help but is only met with cold stares. The change in his facial expression is heartbreaking as he realizes that no one’s going to help him and he’s truly about to die. He must have felt not only betrayed by Sayaka, but abandoned by the whole group in his final moments.

leons death truly hurt me the most. not only was he my favorite character, but he didnt deserve it and he had so much to live for. of course he isnt completely innocent as he still killed and of course the other characters had lots to live for too, but he was different. in the ending where all the students leave peacefully at the price of giving up their talent, leon was the only one who was happy to. he was the only one who had something to work for without his talent, and im betting he was the only one willing to start from square one to get a talent, a talent he would be happy with. he was the only one willing to change for himself to be happy and not just stick with a talent he didnt like, which is why i say he had much to live for. he was the most realistic character there was.
in the manga version, leon didn't want to kill sayaka, he didn't even think about it. he wanted to help her. he stayed after she tried to murder him and after she locked herself in the bathroom. he stayed to try and comfort her and get her to calm down, rather than running away to tell on her or save himself. i think for him to try and help the person who tried to end his life is such an admirable thing. the manga may not be canon, but it did a good job at showing leon's personality and character from what is canon. and because of this version of chapter 1, i think leon didn't deserve to be executed like that.
the canon versions however, i still think leon didn't deserve to get punished. yes, killing someone in an act of defense is still killing someone, but he didn't have a choice. we can see how manipulative sayaka could be when she had got makoto to switch rooms with her, pretending to be scared and lying about someone at her door. taking advantage of his kindness the fact she was closely acquainted with him. with just a few words and some acting, sayaka could've so easily turned the whole class against leon and painted him as a bad guy. killing sayaka was the easiest way to keep himself safe. if she lived and lied to the class, he would be in trouble. if she lived and didn't say anything, there would still be a chance she would go after him again, he would be in trouble. he did it to be safe, even if it was only for a bit more time.
so yeah, leon was a nice realistic and great character (despite only being there for one chapter). and i really think he didn't deserve to die and should've survived, or at least live past chapter 1. this is just my opinion btw and you're free to think something else of him. but this is what i think.
Leon was used so much in the beta the creators got sick of him, that's why he got executed first.
