I love your channel and I love all the new learning that I am getting from you Sir. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to us. God bless you more. Thank you very much
Thanks a ton Suzy! Indeed, the highlight tags feature is one that I just had to build immediately after I learned that SEO technique from Nick Nimmin. :)
Thanks Budi! Haha, it was in a live stream, right? Indeed, we must not ignore description. I actually hear again and again from official TH-cam sources how important they are for SEO. Just the latest Creator Insider video mentioned it again.
Wow! In that case I am the lazy one. ;) Btw, the further down you go in the description, the less important it becomes in regards to SEO. Hence ingraining the search terms should go to the top and then the standard channel info at the bottom. But whom am I telling that. ;) I see that you write a few paragraphs of info about your individual videos. Just perfect! 👌
You definitely correct, Nico 👌 I've heard somebody (you?) said that the most important part of our description is on the first 120-200 characters. Which is, the part that will appear next to the video (on PC), or in the description section just before the "see more" line. In my videos, English is the second language. That's why I keep the English description short. If you see my video descriptions on the original language (Bahasa Indonesia), you'll find almost 5000 characters 😀
Indeed, the what I call “above the fold part” is the most important one. I think you heard it from elsewhere but it is a well known fact anyway. I always focus on that part as a minimum. And Morningfame’s preview is designed to show that part below the description box in the #4 Optimize tab when you have not check the “Highlight Tags” checkbox yet. :)
Cheers to a good start in 2020! Indeed, looking good. 👌 What catches my eye is that your videos all drive a very consistent amount of views which shows that you have a good subscribers base. This fact gives you a good chance to retain new subscribers from such breakout videos. Keep it up!
I’m thinking of switching from TubeBuddy to morningfame because I can’t click on each individual tag in my videos anymore to see how they rank for SEO for the new TH-cam studio. Does morning fame allow for this for the new studio?
Sorry buddy. Morningfame does not provide a browser extension like TubeBuddy does. I bet TubeBuddy’s feature will be fixed soon. You may contact them to find out. I can’t imagine that they would discontinue it.
I always copy the title and paste it in the first line of the description. After that, I then make some phrases that are readable. I feel like having the exact keyword phrase at the very start of the description gives it more weight like front-loading keywords in the title. Not sure if I am correct but it seems it.
Indeed, you can do that, too. However, I prefer to have it as part of the first three lines of a human readable part because viewers may read it. Anyways, it shouldn’t really make a difference in SEO terms.
I hope you will like that order! For me it‘s much more natural since by choosing the target search term I already explored many related search terms and hence I like to collect all of them in the tags first.
Yes. The higher the better. The number is actually the search volume in case you wondered. Next time you see it in the #3 Search tab then click on it. A menu will open that explains your further details.
Excellent question! At least fill the first three lines that show up before the viewer clicks the “See More” button to expand the full description. Those top lines are the most important ones.
Ahh, I learned something here Niko... Tags first, then description. Such a great tool. Wish I could have more access to Keyword Research. Once every 2 weeks is not enough... maybe you should start an intermediate plan?
Cheers bud! Indeed, since SEO is all about search terms, the tag section is a great way to collect them. I actually once had the idea to show the tags first and the description below to match that process. But that order would be weird for newcomers. Enjoy the tool my friend! :)
I have one BIG question: Does it make sense to use a high-volume keyword? Because your "database" are the relevant tags. But in the episode before you wanted to combine two keywords: one with good grades and one with high volume. Could it not be an alternative instead of relevant tags, to use a high volume tag? Or is this approach to optimistic?
Great question Philipp! Well, you could. But if you do then make sure that the keywords also have low enough competition. Exactly like we choose the target search term in step #3 of the tool. That said, this would make sense in the description for 1-2 extra search terms that you weave into the beginning of the description but it’s not something you makes sense to do with the tags. Your metadata mainly served the purpose to tell TH-cam WHERE your videos could rank. How high they actually rank is decided by other factors: th-cam.com/video/rCPseTMuYC0/w-d-xo.html So with the metadata focus mainly on explaining your video topic to the algorithm.
@@Morningfame Ok, then the approach of Brian Dean is not correct. But he mentioned a paper or video from TH-cam, where they explain something like "related metadata" is used for showing up in the suggested area. So this is why I'm confused.
I have two questions for you that this video has me wondering about. 1) should I repeat the target keyword multiple times in the description? Say for example, it's a secondary keyword not in my title, but I still want to rank for it so I mention it in the description. Should I mention it 3 or 4 times, or is once enough? Add 2) let's say I have three different search terms that I want to try and rank for. I am going to incorporate them into my description. They all have a score, and some of them are going to score better than others. Is it important to put the highest score terms first in your description? Or can you put the highest scored term at the bottom of your description? (because having to use them in a specific order makes it even more complicated to write, although not impossible)
Great questions! 1) Mentioning it multiple times won’t make a difference. What counts is that you have the term up high in the description so that it has the most weight. But then each repetition doesn’t really give TH-cam extra information to understand your video topic. So you can rather use the space for related search terms. 2) The higher a term is in the description the more weight it has. So put the most important search term first.
The other channel Video Creators are saying that the meta data is only useful at the beginning of a video release. After that, TH-cam relies on the behavior of viewers; that TH-cam has abandoned SEO optimization for long term assessment of the video. They are implying that tools like morningfame is on limited use. How would you respond to their comment? Is it true about the metadata?
Great question Carl! It depends on which of TH-cam’s algorithms you look at. TH-cam’s recommendations that drive Home and Suggested Videos work this way indeed. But TH-cam Search works differently. Every time you hear TH-cam talking about “relevance” then think optimized metadata. The metadata’s purpose is to tell Search for which search terms the video could potentially rank for. And if the video is stronger in comparison to the competing videos - that’s where the long term assessment based on click-through rate, average view duration etc. comes into play as well - if the video is stronger then it ranks high for the search terms it was optimized for. The latter is taken into account by looking at the competition of search terms that the video could be optimized for. This competition analysis was out of the scope of this video but if you are interested then check this out: th-cam.com/video/cDeDsfhgIO0/w-d-xo.html Now the big question is of course how important each of these algorithms are to grow a channel. TH-cam Search plays a critical role especially for small channels as my data study showed: th-cam.com/video/_yKki7gjlgk/w-d-xo.html I hope this helps! Cheers, Nico
