Content Cop works for a few reasons I think 1. Partly because he can't and partly because he's not that sort of person, idubbbz does not take the moral high ground 2. He makes his target out to be a pathetic laughingstock as opposed to a dangerous influence. People are a lot more curious about Steve Bannon than Jeb Bush because evil is interesting. Spinelessness and cowardice is not. 3. Idubbbz is already such a self parody that he is difficult to make fun of; His skeletons aren't in the closet. 4. Idubbbz sets it up so, no matter what action is taken, the target cannot win. He sticks a mini address to a potential counter video in his original video. 5. Due to the enormous impact the video has on the target, the target wants to respond ASAP usually. This makes for a rushed, not well thought out, video versus a well produced content Cop. Since nobody knows if Idubbbz will target them next all they can do is wait. Those are just a few reasons I believe it is so successful.

I think you missed something. Ian is the aggressor with his content cops. This puts him in situation where the person the content cop is on, even if they can manage to critique idubbbz, still has to respond to his criticism, while Ian has no criticism to respond to in his content cop. Idubbbz has released only neutral content and you have nothing to criticize him on, unless he unjustly calls you out on content that is good. The only way to win is to not care about the content cop and give up. After all, you made crappy content for easy money, his content cop would make you tons of money. So it’s a win/lose sort of thing.

But now, I know that Content Cop is much more than that. Content Cop is a comical masterpiece that doubles as a symbolic criticism of the youtuber in question. What looked so cheap and stupid to my untrained eyes was actually genius in disguise. I think you missed something. Ian is the aggressor with his content cops. This puts him in situation where the person the content cop is on, even if they can manage to critique idubbbz, still has to respond to his criticism, while Ian has no criticism to respond to in his content cop. This focuses his video and makes his critiques seem more credible. (Nobody has actually been able to do that to idubbbz tho, soooo....)
