Oh Wow, thanks a lot for the Shoutout! Glad you enjoy these weird videos. On the Evo SL: Totally understand the frustration with Adidas marketing for this. At the end of the day, it' s a pretty simple shoe and doesn't really deserve to be hyped up like that. But that aside, it's my shoe of the year for me. So much fun to run in and you can do truly almost everything in it.
Keep it up. I love all that you are doing on your channel. It’s excellent and unique.👌🏻 I saw your latest video that you “@“ me in, it’s in my queue. I’ve been away for a bit of an impromptu weekend away. Back to normal tomorrow and will get caught back up.
The growth on your channel is well-deserved. The stats you mentioned recently about viewing time go to show that well-thought-out judgements and praise (that may or may not be in line with other reviewers) for running shoes as well as your thoughts on all things running leave many videos on TH-cam that will be worth watching for years to come. (Sorry about that max stack sentence...) Yesterday I spent at least an hour watching your older content, from the 2023 Marathon experience to reviews of the TS10 and Streakfly. Good content, and that's a big part of what makes your channel unique and enduring. I also love Tim's videos and found Road To Trail recently as well. His honest opinions and punchy, quick video editing make the videos informative and interesting. PS: Can't wait for the 400mile Peg 41 review, whenever that drops!
Ha… max stack sentence. I chocked on my morning coffee reading that one. 🤣 Thank you for the kind words and support. I appreciate it endlessly. 🙏🏻 A longterm Pegasus durability review is something I may get out in Feb. Currently I have too many other videos in the queue to get out. Exciting stuff ahead!
Loved this video. That adidas evo trainer sneaking onto the screen was perfection! Thanks for sharing other content creators at the end. Big fan of all of them
Thanks, Chris, for the fantastic end of the year content!!! You and Andrew were my two must click running TH-cams this year despite being very different. Thank you for the shoutouts to other creators, I will definitely check them out!
Dude the channel recs at the end are so good. I’ve followed most of them already but I just peeped Ran to Japan and WOW, what a crazy fascinating story that kid is sharing. Thank you!
Great video as always! Couldn’t stop laughing with the annoying EVO that came in from the left 😅✌️👟 Great perspectives and great values as always. I really appreciate your content, and feel my interest in running increase by the week when I follow your channel. Great touch with the praise of other interesting running channels. See you in the new year. Happy new year! 🎆🥳🙌
The Evo SL currently lives rent free in my head… so that was my way of visualizing that 🤣 I appreciate the kind words on the content and channel. It means a lot to me to know my content is valuable and enjoyed. Thank you for all the comments and conversation in 2024. Subscribers like you make what I do here very enjoyable. Thank you. 🙏🏻 Happy new year and I’ll be back in 2025 with much much more.
@ Haha, the best Way to visualize that! 😂🤙 Great stuff.. The appreciation is likewise 🙏 Looking forward to the next year, and next chapters. Glad I can help a little in the motivation too. 🏃💨
Good video as ever and many thanks for the shout out. No joy on Evo SL either but have now ran in and sort of reviewed the Adios 9 - sure you will have a few things to say on that one. Looking forward to seeing how your track 800s go. Robin Marbut Road to Trail is good value. I still don’t think have seen anybody else as he runs round. I now joke with him if anybody else lives where he does !
I absolutely love what Robin is doing and how he edits it all. I’ve been away this past weekend on an impromptu weekend trip. Back home later today and will dig into all the YT content I missed. I saw your ZF6/A9 shoe-off in the queue (looking forward to it)…. Next week is ZF6/A9 content for me…
@ look forward to your ZF6/A9 stuff. 2 very interesting shoes for sure and should be very useful training tools going forwards especially if we can both do some track in 2025.
Thank you, Chris, for all your efforts and insights this year. My weekly training routine is now: 3x easy, 1x workout, 1x long, 2x strength AND any video you put out ! I always learn something new. Many thanks and happy new year.
Very good content, btw I’m a pretty good athlete and I’m glad you are also talking about spikes and track running. Thanks for the year of great videos !
Your channel is THE BEST analytical & educational shoe review for common runners. Very Easy to understand !!! The most impressive content of the year was your explaination about the high plate vs low plate of the Metaspeed Sky/Edge, & it helped me understand right away what model I want without even trying the shoe. It's so easy to understand and unlike any other YTbers with cadence & strike jargon that nobody knows what it means... Btw, the Evo SL is hyped up. The size is a bit too roomy for me at 11 US. The upper is cheap and loosely fit at the width. The mid foot shank is kinda noticably hitting the bottom of my feet, kinda like the sensation of the narrow arch of Alphafly 1 & 2. As much as I like the design & the softness of the Light Strike Pro but I cant even wear it for casual due to the mid foot shank. So, No Evo SL for me.
Thank you for the kind words on the channel. I’m glad the high plate/low plate video was that useful! Just what I like to hear. Noted on the Evo SL. I’ve heard such mixed things on it now.
This is my first full year of getting properly into running, and I’m glad I took a chance on Puma shoes. I’ve tried several brands but for me Puma shoes are the best around currently. Maybe not the outright best, but very close performance wise, but value wise they’re fantastic, which is what make them the best for me. The Elite 3 is phenomenal, and the velocity nitro 3 and deviate nitro 2 (I know it’s a 2023 shoe) are fantastic shoes as well. I’m hoping they keep it up for 2025 and make the shoe I shan’t mention a bit less firm in its next iteration
The VN3 was excellent. One of my top 10 of the year. So the promise is there… but something doesn’t mesh with my mechanics and I can’t identify what it is (and I’m usually very good at that). I’ll see where I get with the brand in 2025.
I've also fallen in love with Puma recently and jokingly thought to get the complete Puma lineup and sell every other running shoe ;) The fit is perfect for me, the firmer Nitro foam for my weight also, no energy sapping sinking in, the Grip is the best there is and then they are also less cost sensitive than the others! Also the rest, upper, laces, tongue etc: hassle free and no annoyances. Sunrise colour really to my liking as well :) With those 4 strong reasons and other bonus points without a negative one - why getting something else? I mean, who needs those superblast boats right? ;)
I enjoyed the VN3, maybe will try the VN4… and if they actually to release a Liberate Nitro 2 in their A-TPU foam, I’ll try that. But I doubt I’ll try anything else this year form Puma. My experience with the shoe I won’t name really soured by feelings on the brand.
@@SagasuRunning That shoe secoured yo beeing dissecure ;) In fact, i tried on a few hours ago the WTR+ version of said shoe. The upper feels nice, probably a little too stretchy. The laces got replaced by this bunge cors system, where just the first 2 holes for the laces are visible - the others further down the shoe are covered by... that cover. Just more upper material, where you can place the access lacematerial into. So far so good. jogging a few meteres at home: fffffff that feels hard! as if i was running on a stiff brick on my forefoot! Something you described your experiance with the normal version. My v2 of that shoe i had that too in my first run around the building for 2-3min. The next day however, it felt differently, the foam compressed. Of course the shoe didn't become a Novablast, but i took notice. I also read about this behavior of the shoe on youutube elsewhere 1 or 2 times. First run: hard brick catastrophe, 2nd run suddenly quite different (for the better). So maybe, because you didn't do a 2nd run on one of the two shoes, you weren't aware of this. Anyway, with this WTR+ version there was no danger keeping this shoe, since I had heel slip. The supper around the heel is simply not stiff enough and i really cinched down those bunge cords. So, i return the shoe. v2 stays for now, v3 is on its way to me for testing. Anyway, VN2+3 + DNE2 stay for sure. Foreverrun Niro + --||-- Knit + Velocity 3 WTR are also coming. Not interested in Magnify 2 or the Magmax, since I have enough higher or max stacked (gang!) shoes ;) I am more into barefoot Mafia Adios 8/9 and Sen10 atm. And those Puma you mentioned... Liberate? Probs i look into those 2 :)
Great video again as always 👍🙂 Personally, I'm just tired of the argument between Nike and Adidas. 99% of the races they win are not because of their shoes. It's because they have the biggest budget to sponsor the best athletes in the world. Of course, this is just my opinion. No matter what brand Usain Bolt (Puma) was sponsored by, he would still be the fastest in the world when he was at his best. Unfortunately, we'll never know, but Kelvin Kiptum 😓😞 would probably have gotten under two hours at some point, whether he was running in Puma, Asics, Adidas or Nike simply because he was the greatest marathon talent we've ever seen. If we consider his age.
Both Nike and Adidas spend the most on R&D, which makes the best product… which attracts the best elites. If they didn’t have the technical advancements they wouldn’t have the athletes. Look at a companies like On or Anta. Spending big on elites… yet they don’t really have the product to back it up (not at the tip-of-the-spear elite level). Hellen Obiri is an edge case, she would do well just about anything. Bolt was also a generational edge case. He would have done well in any spike.
@SagasuRunning You have a point, for sure 👍🙂 But in my world it's mostly about the money. if you have a much bigger budget to sponsor with. you will definitely achieve more results too. Of course there is no doubt that adidas and Nike make excellent shoes because of their research. But today there is clearly less difference compared to what it was 4-5 years ago. back then Nike was all dominant. But it will be exciting to see when Asics new (Super Evo) comes. if they start winning more races. personally I don't think so because it's not the best runners who run in them. because they are paid better by Nike and Adidas. Sport is about money today. Just look at the football world
Agree… then again…. Look at On. They have more money than anyone to spend right now on athletes… yet they still struggle to sign many top level elites. There is a clear reason why. I also agree that while Nike and Adidas (and now Asics) are at the top tier…. The rest of the supershoes are not as far behind as they once were. I wouldn’t call it a level play field…. But one can find a fast and competent super shoe from almost any brand right now.
@@SagasuRunning That's right. There is no doubt that you have a much greater knowledge than I do when it comes to the running world 👍😊 But ON sponsors some of the best triathletes in the world. Kristian Blummenfelt and Gustav Iden. And here I can also mention Alex Yee. The world's best short-distance triathlete. He's a crazy runner. And many of his races he has won in the new balance fuelcell supercomp elite v3. A shoe that I would call more of a daily trainer than a racing shoe. I think it's certainly one of the slowest of the carbon shoes. But then again, I'm just a turtle compared to him. When he won the Olympics he ran in version 4. I don't know how many big races New Balance has won in the last few years, but I'm pretty sure no matter what shoe we put him in he will outrun the others. And when his sponsorship deal is over with New Balance. One could imagine that the brand that will pay the most money will be his next 🤔
I’m a fan of all the channels you mentioned (well, the ones I know about). Your videos are a must click to me. I share many of your opinions on shoes, especially with the Peg!
100% agree on the Evol SL nonsense. It seems like every other post on Reddit runningshoegeeks is about the Evo SL. It's gotten really obnoxious, especially for a shoe that isn't even officially out.
Got Evo SL sitting on my shelf. It's been out for ages. It's a good shoe but certainly not the best shoe of year. That's the Evo Pro 1. As for obnoxious, try the Nike fanboys.. you can be talking about Ukraine, Chlamydia or tax rates & still get "but the Alphafly is better ." Well ok, it's POSSIBLY better than Chlamydia but enough already anyway ..
@@haroldjaybornea545just small doses for those who played and won the lottery. The main release is 2025. Obviously Adidas put out the first produced shoes to generate a general hype about the shoe. I personally think that if the timespan is too large, people don't wait for the shoe and buy something else when they need a shoe for the same or similar kind of purpose AND by March 2025 people have already forgotten about the Evo SL and have long bough Novablast 5s or Mach 6 on discount.
I wish you and your's a very Happy new year... As a large volume content consumer in the running / shoe space I believe you have firmly established yourself in the running / shoe tube space in 2024 and much like Tim Grose or Barry (Old man runner) , I have to actually stop and listen. Thank's. (PS. I actually have a Brooks Glycerine Max sitting besides my , NB Rebel's , Takumi Sen's & Hyperion 2's .. it is a boat .. but strangly works .. my 56 year old knee's have thanked me 😇)
Ya, the GM is so not my thing… but I get why it is popular and the tech in it is interesting for sure. Thank you for the support, as always. Plenty more ahead for 2025. Happy New Years to you and yours as well! 🥂
As ever Top quality video. The man that makes and talks so much sense. You should consider politics, here in the U.k we could do with a leader who knows what he's doing. Thank you for all your content this year.
Hi Chris, fantastic review! I loved it, especially when you told Adidas to back off-that was hilarious! Honestly, I hope shoe manufacturers take note of your story about the unnecessary hype and chaotic marketing launches. It’s totally frustrating!
We have discussed Adidas’s “marketing” quite a bit… sadly, I don’t see them changing anytime soon. Some team get the analytics from it all and spins it as it’s creating value to internal shareholders and it continues. One of the biggest causes of this type of “marketing” is internal teams chasing KPIs as a way to show their own internal performance. It’s destructive to end users why all internal teams care about is inflating their own KPIs and “value” to their managers and shareholders.
@@SagasuRunningi don't understand. I also don't know what KPI means. Isn't costumer binding by prioritising long time customer satisfaction the best way to make money long term? Better boring, solid and foreseeable... Like Apple? I mean, ok, Apple binds people into its ecosystem which is held incompatible with everything else. I guess with a sports brand it doesn't work that way too much.
KPI = Key Performance Indicator, which is a metric (or set of metrics) modern management practice has prioritized (above all else) for internal teams to hit in order to show performance and value to the company. Many manager and teams make VERY short sighted choices and decisions to boost their KPIs at the sacrifice of the end user or the long term of the product. Google the concept and you can read all about how it has infected modern corporate life.
@@SagasuRunning sounds like a bs idea. I mean, sure, some "optimizers" would love to know and at best just put out a number at the end, but when it is clear as day that everything will be done for no other reason than to increase a number, then... set up for disaster! How can anyone be so stupid? Oh well, BWLer...
The PumaMag Max and Glycerine Max were fantastic shoes for me this year. I still prefer to run my speed days in a lower stack shoe like the Takumi Sen 10 and can't wait to grab the Adios 9 for a Max and Min lineup for my needs
Takumi Sen 10 is such a great shoe. It's my speed day shoe & I love it. Weird to think shoes have gotten so tall it's stack height is considered low. A few years ago it would have been considered huge. Great shoe though. Love it to bits.
I loved the TS10 in 2024…. It was the modern TS that finally “worked” for me. It was definitely fast for me, but not as fast as some other options, then I started running in track spikes and went another direction with my running…. So didn’t spend as much time in it as I expected.
16:12. Then you have content creators who get banned from marathons for bringing a film crew onto the course and endangering the other runners. 25:28. That interview with Andrew will be a fun interview to watch.
Road to trail seems to use some app or AI to remove the silence between blocks of thoughts; maybe part of that choppiness video editing is explained that way. Audrey Running is very interesting, just subscribed. Kudos to you Chris to share those guys. Happy 25’ 🙏🇧🇷🙌💪
I don't know...I wonder. I could jump cut my audio like that easily. I do wonder if he uses software to remove people from his shots. I love that he is the only "character" in his videos...so good.
@SagasuRunning that very interesting. All in all his "choppiness" and blunt cuts makes his signature, that's very interesting. I think it a gem in a very very noisy web....
After failing the lottery, I eventually got the EVO SL from a random clothing store in LA that popped up with a full size run out of nowhere. I'm liking the shoe itself, but the terrible release/overly positive reviews put a bad taste in my mouth as a loyal Adidas fan
The thing is with the Evo SL is that is doesn’t technically release until March 2025… according to Adidas. So these little hype marketing trickles are beyond frustrating and lame. I still look forward to running in a pair but this “marketing” needs to stop.
I didn't try the hoka and puma max stacks but snatched the glycerin max first chance i got and came away hugely disappointed. Foam is not very soft actually (I'm 68kg so I'm sure heavier runners would like it more), and I don't think they can make it any softer with that much height and no plate. The shoe is very heavy and definitely feels heavy on the run too, for its intended use case (long runs), being heavy might just be as bad as not having enough cushioning. I think it's definitely going to be more suited for heavy runners but got overhyped by reviewers. I would actually choose NB5 over the GM for even marathon long runs any day
I’m also around 68kg and I don’t want to try the super max stack shoes for the same reason. I don’t think I’m going to get much out of the foam and the bulk of the shoes will cause me issues I have the magnify nitro 2 and the Novablast 4’s and I like both of those shoes but I feel that’s my limit of stack height that I’ll like
Bro i live innthe border of Venezuela and Colombia, and the Evo SL is avaliable here in sizes 8.5, 9, 9.5 at the Adidas stores and the app for Colombia 😊
Crazy. Here in Taiwan… we have the AP4 and A9 available in nearly every Adidas store… but no Evo SL anywhere and no one has any idea when it might show up. 🤷🏼♂️
@SagasuRunning For me the best creators of Running content are you, Tim and Yowana the Road and trail Chanel, it is very interesting how he presents his videos
So you do 3 leg days a week then? 🤣 I get why people like the GM and applaud Brooks for going all in on a shoe like that. It’s a very Brooks solution to the issue and shows the brand understand it’s consumer well. Great shoe, just not for me.
@@SagasuRunningthere are also people who don't like the Glizzy Max. Never heard anything bad about the MagMax. Maybe just one guy mentioned that his legs or knees feel weird afterwards. I think it was Eddbud, a channel i really enjoy recently. If I would right now have to order a max cushion gang (tm by Yowana) shoe, it would be the Skyward X because it is said to be the most fun shoe to run in, because of the bounce + i am way heavy enough. The safer bet would be the MagMax. Other than that I would look at the Hoka Skyflow, because it is a firmer Mach 6 with a little more stack. Well, maybe the shoe has nothing in comon with the Mach 6, but I'd try it anyway as a daily trainer.
I am DEFINITELY not part of the “Max Cushion Gang”… in fact I’m the gang on the other side of town that will never associate with the other gang unless I’m forced too. 🤣
15:15 you wanted to say ASIC 😊 Great vidoe agree with everything you said. I cant really name any shoe focud channel except of yours that i can watch 1 hour long videos 🎉
Good catch. Haha. 🙏🏻 good think there were Asics visuals on screen so it (mostly) still makes sense. You know… I try to cap my videos to 20-25mins, since last summer, unless I really can’t cut it down. Though now I have people asking me for longer videos. I doubt I’ll go full Yowana… but the occasional longer video in 2025 might be a thing. Thank you for watching. 🤙🏻
@@SagasuRunningi think your videos are long enough. It is all about the quality of the content, not necessarily about the length. Yowana is vlogging and if i want go watch a few videos about a specific shoe, i go for more shorter videos than for one opera with unnecessary lengths. So, 3 videos in 30-40min or one Yowana daily adventure with "putting respect in some more miles" etc trashtalk in 60min? I go for the first, then maybe watch the longer videos later. Mostly Fordyruns as first, quick overview what's it all about, then maybe Eddbud as second, cool guy, calm voice and often indepth (like you :) ) and then the refreshing musical interlude at the end. Enjoyable and relaxing to watch. And Andy Raynor, the FOD runner, because with his 88kg he is in my weightclass 👍 Also the Australian guy Run-Are. Cool dude, different accent ;) some good videos, mostly I like the versus videos in recent times. Run-Are, the FOD runner and me share the love for the Noosa Tri ❤ And then you of course, calm, unannoying voice and the best indepth reviews I've ever see and anyone could want, if he or she really wants to know whats going on. I really enjoy your knowledge and some focus on different aspects of the shoes and running in general - very very much appreciated! A reliable forefoot striker with different tastes to seemingly all the others (Max Stacked Gang. Bang! Shoes must be fun and make you feel awesome!). I appreciate the sentiment that running in those shoes must be fun, else you don't move your arse out the door 😢 Also appreciate your approach for natural foot movement, lower stacked shoes and boring workhorse trainers who don't get in the way and don't do you any harm. All the best for 2025! 🎉
I got my pair of Adios 9 for about $50USD under retail at the Adidas store…. No clue why but I’ll take it. I look forward to running in the Evo SL and really getting into them… whenever that will be.
@@SagasuRunningI also looked into the Adios and Takumi Sen because of you and this Japan guy you shouted. Foot flex and health, maybe I grab one for casual going to work instead of my Approach shoes (stiff, well, for an approach shoe flexible - La Sportiva TX4) or so and for shorter runs to build up foot and ankle strength/resiliance etc. I've ordered the Adios 8 to try out fit and sizing because there are some pairs cheap on the 2nd hand market. Then I have also found a brand new Takumi Sen 10 Y-3 in pink on the same platform for less than a new Sen10 from any online shop. So, when the Adios 8 fits in 45 1/3 then the Sen10 should fit in EU 46. My feet are narrow enough - Hoka Speedgoat 5 is in EU 46 the best tight fitting shoe eve for me! It is just ok because the upper is so soft. Would it be firm, probably it wouldn't be that good for me any more. Also Puma fits me well (EU 45). Any thoughts? All the reviews point to the Sen10 as a speedworkout shoe and up to 10k racer, despite beeing a little bit heavier than for example the Asics Metaspeed Sky Paris.
16:41 I thought you were talking about Nick Bare at first lmao I honestly didn’t know Matt Choi was hybrid 🤷🏻♂️ This is my 2nd comment on this video and I’m pretty sure I could crank out at least 3 more bc this video is so good and in depth. You’re a true student of the game Chris. Happy new year and wishing you well in 2025.
Ha… maybe, just maybe I was. This is why I wasn’t really pointing the finger at one person… not 100%, maybe just 98%. 🤔 Thank you for watching and finding value in the content. I’m glad it’s interesting. 2024 was quite a year.
I dont think the last two points (before the creator block, which great shouts there), are disconnected which im sure was intended by the order. I think if youre plugged into the space then you have seen the shoetubers (we know who we mean), go on and on about a certain product that none of us can even buy, in some cases for months. You're seeing a lot of the same backlash in the communities surrounding the world majors, where influncers will get in because of brand connections, tell you its the best thing, and then its next to impossible to get into these races. I do think a lot of the backlash could be mitigated if the races/brands or the influencers themselves were more sensitive to the topic, but it just seems like a haves/have nots kind of thing. At least sometimes. Looking forwards to your thoughts on the EVO SL, the complaints are completely valid, and I'll be the first to say I have left some angry comments about that (Asics with the Superblast is guilty as well, but not as bad as Adidas). I was luckily enough to be on my phone a few weeks back and got notified by the app they were available. After being extremely skeptical of the hype, I have been pleasantly surprised. Its not perfect, but for the price its very interesting. Have a good New Year
🎯 Transparency is important and it’s not always clear. I have no issue as long as it’s crystal clear what is what. I am quite looking forward to the Evo SL, but so so frustrated with the marketing and release date games. So much ahead in 2025! Stay tuned. As always thank you hour support! 🤙🏻
What about the term of Volume-Trainer instead of Supertrainers. As I asked the saucony sales rep what the purpose of the kinvara pro was, he told me exactly that, a so called Mengentrainer, in German, translated to Volume-Trainer. Superblast, yueying, KP, Glycerin Max, skyward... I would push them all in that category. A shoe where you can spend hours training in, recover fast from because of the foam, and needs the tech to keep you going while maintaining the durability of a training shoe. Super shoe and elite shoe are defintely a thing, Chinese brand do the same now for 2025. Also to close the gap between elite runners and Hobby athletes. I was sceptical at first, but I think its the right direction the time I spend Into these super high class super shoes where Iam simply too bad to hold running form and are simply taxing my legs. Otherwise I agree: you and midlife runner have become my 2 favorit channels 😅
A volume trainer is a shoe like the Nike Vomero...a shoe made for long runs and high volume. In fact the name "Vomero" comes from "Volume" way back when. I feel like that rep was taking a VERY literal translation. Cab't say I agree with the name. "I've seen "Hyper Trainer", which makes more sense. Regardless... not the type of shoe I want to be in. The split in super shoes just makes sense. If gives the brands that can do it a place to push their technological boundaries, optimize a shoe for their elite athletes and have a platform to start bringing next gen materials to market.
Ya…. the Triumph is another one. The Invincible is interesting as it used to me a max cushion trainer… now it’s basically mid stack. I think some would even consider it low stack. 🤣
Chris, if you’re headed back to Japan anytime soon take note that the Evo SL has been released for sale in regular stores (like Sports Depo) for nearly a month now as part of the marketing aligned with the big Hakone Ekiden race. I don’t know if it is a limited release just for the race or if an earlier wise release for this market, though.
We also have the big Adidas Ekiden push here in Taiwan, both the Ekiden color way but also some other gear. The Evo SL is left out of it all. I've seen some of the promotions for the Hakone Ekiden online... we just don't have that here. It is very odd.
Definitely not the Infinity RN 4, that shoe is a lifestyle shoe you can jog in occasionally… nothing to do with the Infinity series of old. You will see some ReactX/ZoomX shoes they are in the three categories next year…
EVO SL is available in Shanghai tomorrow, not sure if limited release or not so I pre-purchased to be sure. Price a bit higher though, the equivalent of no less than 160 USD.
I don’t see them in Adidas TW. 🤷🏼♂️ Literally no one I’ve talked to at Adidas here has any idea when they might show up. It seems it will be a surprise.
@@SagasuRunning Adidas doesn't give much importance to TW. I will ask and revert here if the (limited?) release today would be for other major cities in China too. Must be a limited release as in Shanghai there is only one shop offering it. Curious if there will be any queue or something, though I threw the info in my runners WeChat group yesterday and no reaction so far.
The Puma shoe you won’t mention. I am so curious about the back story on what happened. I can’t imagine the scenario that would cause this. It must have been bad considering your level headed nature.
I have a review video covering it all on the channel. I recount the story and break down why I think it wasn’t working for me… as best as I could being as annoyed and perplexed as I was.
So you understand my frustration and distaste? What makes it worst is I liked the fit and, can not for the life of me, figure out why it didn’t work for me at all. I’m usually very good at analyzing that sort of thing.
One of the big problems with many of the run influencer channels (unlike yours) is when the running brands are nonstop giving you tons of shoes it seems like it would be a challenge to really be critical about their shoes/products
@@SagasuRunningI just got back into running after years of bodybuilding. I have my pace down to about 8:45-9min per mile on my long runs. I’m 6’1 220lbs. I tried the ASICS NB4, Nimbus 26, Brooks Ghost Max 2 and all of them felt heavy and gave me knee pain. I currently use the Nike Invincible 3s for daily short runs. They have about 200mi on them.
If you like the Invincible 3, check out the Vomero 18 in about 2 mo the. The ASICS Novablast 5 is also an option, similar to the I3 and a very different shoe than the NB4.
@@flex_nyc9885are you heel striker? And fairly new to high or even max stacked shoes? Both, heel striking AND high stacked shoes shift the load away from under your knee to the knees and hips themself!
Was so excited to get them, as some sort of flashback to the early 2010s... Their assumed consumer need for a "minimalist with a 'modern' foam", kinda bugged me: too much rebound sponge, not enough sink.. this great yet subtle feel would of course mean, that tiny foam will barely last 200km. But was purely after that nostalgic
The Streakfly is the direct precursor to the A9 and before that the older Takumi Sens (pre TS8). New Balance was playing with minimal modern race flats for the road from 2018. Asics has had an endless minimal flats forever, mainly the Tarther series. The Sinister is nothing unique other than it was released in 2023 and is basically a direct close of a Nike Streak LT…
The endless whining (by influencers across the board) about how Adidas releases or markets its products is so annoying. Just get the shoe when you can and review it as a running shoe. I have it and it’s a great shoe.
It’s more about their corporate practice. Why announce a shoe in Oct 2024, with a global release date of March 2025? If they is the case, releases it in March 2025. Not this trickle of random drops. This type of behavior is becoming all too normal for Adidas.
Gotta “love” them lottery’s. Company spends less on labor and materials for a lot more profit. Idk what happened to the honesty with companies these days 🤦🏻. Lottery’s have been in the bourbon and whiskey industry as well. All I can say is Greed and wasteful spending.
At least with a finite thing that is made in small batches (theoretically) having a lottery makes sense…. But annoying. Running shoes don’t have any of this.
Thanks for the shoutout man! Really appreciate it
Keep up the great content. I can’t wait to see what you make in 2025! 💪🏻
Appreciate the shoutout, Chris Sagasu! Our convo comes out next Sunday :)
Let’s go 2025 Andrew Mizuno! 🤙🏻
It’s excellent and unique.👌🏻
I saw your latest video that you “@“ me in, it’s in my queue. I’ve been away for a bit of an impromptu weekend away. Back to normal tomorrow and will get caught back up.
OMG I started laughing so hard when the EVO SL image crept into the frame. That was hilarious!!!!!!
That shoe has been rent free in my head for too long. 🤬
Thank you for the kind words and support. I appreciate it endlessly. 🙏🏻
A longterm Pegasus durability review is something I may get out in Feb. Currently I have too many other videos in the queue to get out. Exciting stuff ahead!
Loved this video. That adidas evo trainer sneaking onto the screen was perfection! Thanks for sharing other content creators at the end. Big fan of all of them
So many great creators doing new and interesting things in the space. So good to see! Thank you for watching! 🤙🏻
Thanks, Chris, for the fantastic end of the year content!!! You and Andrew were my two must click running TH-cams this year despite being very different. Thank you for the shoutouts to other creators, I will definitely check them out!
Thank you for the kind words!
So many great creators out there in this space doing new and interesting things happy to see it all!
Great selection of shout outs. Different views, different casts, different way of doing things.
That is what is so cool about this space right now. So many new voices doing very different things.
Dude the channel recs at the end are so good. I’ve followed most of them already but I just peeped Ran to Japan and WOW, what a crazy fascinating story that kid is sharing. Thank you!
Right!? So good!
You are amazing Sagasu ! Thank you for your brilliant contents in 2024 and I am looking forward to seeing you in 2025 ! All the best to you !
Thank you for the kind words. So much planned for 2025. Stay tuned!
The Evo SL currently lives rent free in my head… so that was my way of visualizing that 🤣
I appreciate the kind words on the content and channel. It means a lot to me to know my content is valuable and enjoyed. Thank you for all the comments and conversation in 2024. Subscribers like you make what I do here very enjoyable. Thank you. 🙏🏻
Happy new year and I’ll be back in 2025 with much much more.
Agree on both counts… very much. Surprisingly so for the ZF6.
Thank you, Chris, for all your efforts and insights this year. My weekly training routine is now: 3x easy, 1x workout, 1x long, 2x strength AND any video you put out ! I always learn something new. Many thanks and happy new year.
Ha, I don’t know how much my content is helping the training… but I appreciate the support! Happy new year. Plenty more ahead in 2025!
Agree with the the limited drops by some companies. Still waiting on a few shoes from many brands. Well done Chris. Thank you!
So frustrating. Thank you for the support. 🤙🏻
@ my pleasure. Here’s to a great ‘25!
Very good content, btw I’m a pretty good athlete and I’m glad you are also talking about spikes and track running. Thanks for the year of great videos !
I’ll try to cover more spikes in 2025…. But will definitely be focused on track work and speed for a while now.
I also recently discovered Ran to Japan. Great videos. Really enjoying the deep dives into Japanese training philosophies.
Ya, it’s a subject not covered much in the west. Japan’s approach to running and depth in the sport is uniquely Japanese. Really quite impressive.
I've also fallen in love with Puma recently and jokingly thought to get the complete Puma lineup and sell every other running shoe ;)
The fit is perfect for me, the firmer Nitro foam for my weight also, no energy sapping sinking in, the Grip is the best there is and then they are also less cost sensitive than the others!
Also the rest, upper, laces, tongue etc: hassle free and no annoyances. Sunrise colour really to my liking as well :)
With those 4 strong reasons and other bonus points without a negative one - why getting something else?
I mean, who needs those superblast boats right? ;)
I enjoyed the VN3, maybe will try the VN4… and if they actually to release a Liberate Nitro 2 in their A-TPU foam, I’ll try that. But I doubt I’ll try anything else this year form Puma. My experience with the shoe I won’t name really soured by feelings on the brand.
@@SagasuRunning That shoe secoured yo beeing dissecure ;)
In fact, i tried on a few hours ago the WTR+ version of said shoe.
Not interested in Magnify 2 or the Magmax, since I have enough higher or max stacked (gang!) shoes ;)
I am more into barefoot Mafia Adios 8/9 and Sen10 atm. And those Puma you mentioned... Liberate? Probs i look into those 2 :)
The Evo SL hype "sneak peek" was perfection.😂👌🏻
That shoe has been rent free in my head for mo the now… it needs to stop. ✋🏻
Triathlon is a different sport than professional running…. And On has spent large there and had success for sure.
You’re one of the few reviewers that liked the Pegasus plus and I appreciate it. I really like this shoe for the simplicity
Agree. Simple is often best. The right materials matter. 🤙🏻
I’m a fan of all the channels you mentioned (well, the ones I know about). Your videos are a must click to me. I share many of your opinions on shoes, especially with the Peg!
There are definitely some amazing creators out there in the space right now. Thank you for the support! 🤙🏻
100% agree on the Evol SL nonsense. It seems like every other post on Reddit runningshoegeeks is about the Evo SL. It's gotten really obnoxious, especially for a shoe that isn't even officially out.
Well at least every other post isn’t about the Superblast for a while… 🤣
What do you mean? It was released last october right?
Got Evo SL sitting on my shelf. It's been out for ages. It's a good shoe but certainly not the best shoe of year. That's the Evo Pro 1.
As for obnoxious, try the Nike fanboys.. you can be talking about Ukraine, Chlamydia or tax rates & still get "but the Alphafly is better ." Well ok, it's POSSIBLY better than Chlamydia but enough already anyway ..
Official release date for the Evo SL, according to Adidas, is March 2025.
Nice review of the year! Thanks for all you do, and looking forward to the next few reviews!
Thank you for watching and the support. Onward to 2025! 🤙🏻
Great video to round out 2024 Chris! 🙌
I can’t wait to get start on our content in a few weeks/months… 2025 is going to be great. 👍🏻
Ha...avoiding anything politics like THE PLAGUE...🙅♂️
Thank you for the kind words on the channel.
Welcome to modern management practices….
The PumaMag Max and Glycerine Max were fantastic shoes for me this year. I still prefer to run my speed days in a lower stack shoe like the Takumi Sen 10 and can't wait to grab the Adios 9 for a Max and Min lineup for my needs
The Glycerine Max is definitely state-of-the-art and a clear look at where Brooks is headed. Otherwise not my thing, at all.
I think the Cushioned shoes takes the show more than any story this year
If I had to put them in order I would agree. It’s getting absolutely absurd and out of hand.
@SagasuRunning that's mad max 🤣
🤣
Great as always Chris!
🙏🏻
“Super trainer” was definitely in my bingo card today 😉
Hahaha. It was on mine too. Sadly it was a repeated topic in 2024.
@@SagasuRunningMatt Choi reference too! 😂
That has to be on a bingo card somewhere
16:12. Then you have content creators who get banned from marathons for bringing a film crew onto the course and endangering the other runners. 25:28. That interview with Andrew will be a fun interview to watch.
Ya… that entire situation was inane and ridiculous. The nerve that takes…
@SagasuRunning Me, me, me, self, self, self
Road to trail seems to use some app or AI to remove the silence between blocks of thoughts; maybe part of that choppiness video editing is explained that way. Audrey Running is very interesting, just subscribed.
Kudos to you Chris to share those guys.
Happy 25’
🙏🇧🇷🙌💪
I don't know...I wonder. I could jump cut my audio like that easily. I do wonder if he uses software to remove people from his shots. I love that he is the only "character" in his videos...so good.
@SagasuRunning that very interesting. All in all his "choppiness" and blunt cuts makes his signature, that's very interesting. I think it a gem in a very very noisy web....
Ya, I love it. It’s so odd and a bit disorientating. It’s very well done.
My shoe of the year for 2024 is Asics Gel Contend 9.
I had to Google that one. Never heard of it or have seen it. Looks like a solid budget option.
This is one of your best videos
Thank you. I always enjoy the year end reviews.
I would actually choose NB5 over the GM for even marathon long runs any day
The dual midsole foam of the GM is interesting. I’d love to see it in some like a Launch or Hyperion silhouette that is more reasonable.
I’m also around 68kg and I don’t want to try the super max stack shoes for the same reason. I don’t think I’m going to get much out of the foam and the bulk of the shoes will cause me issues
I have the magnify nitro 2 and the Novablast 4’s and I like both of those shoes but I feel that’s my limit of stack height that I’ll like
Both of those shoes, prior to 2024, would have been considered “max” stack. Now… they are mid to moderate… crazy!
@@SagasuRunningi would call everything with 40mm+ total heel stack "high-staked" shoes.
As the stakes are high and you dare to plunder and fall off 😂
@@SagasuRunningthe new Glycerin (without "madmax") has also those DNA-tuned foam.
@SagasuRunning yes, and the Big sizes all sold out for the Evo SL i wear size 12 the Pro 4 is going to be released the 02/01/25
@SagasuRunning The Adios9 is not being announced yet, it may arrive later and the Pro 3 offers are already on the agenda 30/50% off
@SagasuRunning For me the best creators of Running content are you, Tim and Yowana the Road and trail Chanel, it is very interesting how he presents his videos
What’s funny is that Adios 9 hasn’t been announced yet here either… it just appeared. The AP4 Ekiden had a big push here though a few weeks ago.
Im a big fan of the Glycerin Max. I do 2 heavy leg days a week and I wear them for runs the day after when my ability to take eccentric loads is weak.
So you do 3 leg days a week then? 🤣
I get why people like the GM and applaud Brooks for going all in on a shoe like that.
@@SagasuRunning Chinatown. Smaller people, less hybris, better kung fu 👊💪🤸♀
15:15 you wanted to say ASIC 😊
Great vidoe agree with everything you said.
And Andy Raynor, the FOD runner, because with his 88kg he is in my weightclass 👍
Also the Australian guy Run-Are. Cool dude, different accent ;) some good videos, mostly I like the versus videos in recent times.
Run-Are, the FOD runner and me share the love for the Noosa Tri ❤
And then you of course, calm, unannoying voice and the best indepth reviews I've ever see and anyone could want, if he or she really wants to know whats going on.
I don't know about you guys but I got lucky and snagged the EVO SL for way under retail £117 😅 The hype is real, it's a banger of a shoe
Same. Best shoe I’ve ever had and it’s not particularly close.
I got my pair of Adios 9 for about $50USD under retail at the Adidas store…. No clue why but I’ll take it.
I look forward to running in the Evo SL and really getting into them… whenever that will be.
Noted.
16:41 I thought you were talking about Nick Bare at first lmao I honestly didn’t know Matt Choi was hybrid 🤷🏻♂️
This is my 2nd comment on this video and I’m pretty sure I could crank out at least 3 more bc this video is so good and in depth. You’re a true student of the game Chris. Happy new year and wishing you well in 2025.
Ha… maybe, just maybe I was. This is why I wasn’t really pointing the finger at one person… not 100%, maybe just 98%. 🤔
Thank you for watching and finding value in the content.
Have a good New Year
🎯
Transparency is important and it’s not always clear.
@@SagasuRunning Then it seems indeed that the market shifted a loooot.. in that term its now the Triumph, invincible run etc.
Wild times...
Ya…. the Triumph is another one.
I've just realised that in 2024 I haven't bought any shoe released in 2024. As there's no need.
That is actually impressive. 👍🏻
More (or less) running and less watching and giving in to influencer stuff.
And it's lot like 2023 weren't also many good shoes released :)
Would you belive any nike react x foam trainers like the Infinity run 4 would be considered going in the direction of a super trainer?
Definitely not the Infinity RN 4, that shoe is a lifestyle shoe you can jog in occasionally… nothing to do with the Infinity series of old.
You will see some ReactX/ZoomX shoes they are in the three categories next year…
Do you have chance to find the EVO SL to try in Taiwan ?
Got it over the weekend, testing it now. Content coming in the next week or two.
@ Great ! I also find my local adidas store has EVO SL stock. Just want to seek your advice if can buy or not for daily and tempo run. Thanks !
A definite buy either way… testing what i think the shoe actually is currently. Review soon. 🤙🏻
If a discounted SL2 is just half price of EVO SL, would you recommend me to just buy SL2 for daily trainer and some speed work purpose ?
@@heickc No…I’d still buy the Evo SL…it’s a far FAR better shoe.
robin boutta blow up in 2025 ;)
As he should! 🤙🏻
We'll see haha!
EVO SL is available in Shanghai tomorrow, not sure if limited release or not so I pre-purchased to be sure. Price a bit higher though, the equivalent of no less than 160 USD.
I just couldn’t resist, it was stronger than me it took me 3 milliseconds to decide and buy them.
I don’t see them in Adidas TW. 🤷🏼♂️ Literally no one I’ve talked to at Adidas here has any idea when they might show up. It seems it will be a surprise.
Enjoy them.
So odd how they are handling this shoe… so odd.
@ Thanks I’ll try to find it to satisfy my curiosity.
I found the review of said unmentioned shoe. It was a horror story you went through. I was feeling the pain and I get it now thanks.
I believe you can remain objective and have a clear editorial voice… you just need to be transparent with everything.
What’s a good shoe for long run training sessions?
Depends on many variables….
Who's "that one person" in Story 8?! 😅
Google “new york marathon influencer”.
@@SagasuRunning LOL No idea who that guy is! 🤷♂🤷♂
Why aren’t you mentioning the puma shoe
Plenty of videos on the channel explaining that...look for the review of the orange shoe.
Am I the only one who likes the Saucony Sinister?
That shoe rules
I’m always bemused by how much it seems to be ignored by running’s chattering classes. A fascinating shoe and arguably the precursor to the Adios 9.
@@mikea6710 Did you ever run in the Reebok Floatride Run Fast, a shoe that came out in 2018?
The Streakfly is the direct precursor to the A9 and before that the older Takumi Sens (pre TS8). New Balance was playing with minimal modern race flats for the road from 2018. Asics has had an endless minimal flats forever, mainly the Tarther series.
The Sinister is nothing unique other than it was released in 2023 and is basically a direct close of a Nike Streak LT…
15th!
🎖️(a star for trying).
Puma means nothing to me. For the entire year, the company failed to supply any shoes in my size 15. So I took my thousands elsewhere.
Size 15… year neither Puma nor Asics will work for you. I’m not a fan of Puma…. But wow, you have a personal grudge.
@@SagasuRunning Personal grudge? I'm the customer. You either supply what I'm looking for or I look elsewhere. Easy concept.
Totally.
once upon a time there was a pair if adidas...
..and?
@@SagasuRunning i was expecting shoe stories.
Plenty of that coming in 2025…
Gotta “love” them lottery’s.
