I have found that I have to read the bible from beginning to end over and over again because it is multi-layered with wisdom. Also, life will show you circumstances in your life now that were answered from scripture long ago, so you will have many "ah ha" moments and understand the best way to move through today's obstacles. Also, asking God in prayer for help is always rewarding.

If I have trouble reading the Bible I’ll look at different versions of the confusing verse. I also have several podcast of whatever book I might be reading which often give me new understanding and shows me things I missed in my reading. I think it’s also important to learn of the context in which the writer was writing, which is why I think it’s also think it’s important to learn of the time and place in which the writers lived. Seems like a lot to do but if you feel the pull of really learning from what you read, you find that taken as a whole, all these lines of study greatly enrich your experience with God’s Word. By the way, as usual, excellent biblical munch.

I’ve bought the Nelson KJV, the Amplified and the NASB Study Bibles. The commentaries are great and I use google to look up the definitions of words. The NASB is my favorite but I still use them all. I use a one year system I found on line. Old Testament, New Testament,Psalms and Proverbs. I LOVE reading the “WORD!”

For a Christian, Gods Holy word , The Bible, should be our most precious possession, because it gives us the truth of Gods love for us, and brings us into a much deeper and closer relationship with our Heavenly Father.

Just keep reading over and over and over again. When the time is right, God will reveal to you what certain versus mean. Do not always believe what others interpretation might be, allow God to reveal it to you and He will. Sometimes it takes a while but don't give up, keep reading the Word. I remember years ago when the simple saying "I am that I am" hit me like a ton of bricks and other versus as well.

Thank you for making the great point on the indwelling of the Holy Spirit!
Many think they need additional books and study, education and knowledge to understand God's word but truly he will help you to know what you NEED to know.
Sometimes those other things may provide new insights, but aren't required.

That’s why you join a reputable Church and attend worship service, Sunday school and Bible Study on a regular basis. “ But without faith it is impossible to please Him ( God), for he comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.” Hebrews 11:6.

No truly reputable church observes Sunday services. The Sabbath is the true Christian day of worship. The pure irony of you posting this passage is that God explicitly linked His very identity as the Creator to the Sabbath(Exo. 20:11), so anyone who is truly seeking Him will observe it as He commanded. Show me a Sunday-keeping church, and i'll show you a church that is surely not seeking the true God.

@@theeternalsbeliever1779 Hey, you do want you want, you believe your opinions on worship. I go by what Jesus told the woman at the well in John 4: “ Woman believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. But the hour is coming and now is, when true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him.” This means that all the rituals you do before other men won’t matter , the only thing that will matter is what is in your heart. God pays attention to the heart, soul, mind and strength ( will to persevere) of a person, because Jesus said in Matthew 22 that is how we are to love Him ( God).

I always would hear people that I respected and looked up to saying that. And I had no doubt it must be true. But, I needed help to see the way to make "Scripture interprets Scripture" a reality. When I got a Chain-Reference Bible at the beginning of this year to go with my other study Bibles and commentaries, it finally became accessible to me that the Bible interprets itself. I can now look at each of thousands of topics in a panorama from Genesis to Revelation.

Try using a parallel Bible that shows the text side by side with two different translations. Sometimes one translation says the same text in a way that makes it easier to understand for our modern day minds..

Some scriptures are literal and some are figurative, plus Jesus taught a lot with parables. It’s not hard. For me to understand. The scriptures interpret themselves…Some bibles have little letters of the alphabet after the end of some sentences. it you click on them they will take you to another scripture with more understanding. I love this and write down all of the great scriptures that give meaning to the subject that you are reading. Try it….makes the Bible reading much more interesting and understandable….

We humans are rule making machines. There are times when our rules make it impossible to understand what God wrote through those He chose. (Isaiah 29:13, which is quoted by Jesus and Paul). Another major reason we have a hard time is because we underestimate what God is capable of, so our imagination needs to be expanded before we can see. But the gems are worth digging for.

It’s hard to understand because people don’t
    1. Open the Book
    2. They listen to the lies of men who twist the Word
    3. People don’t go into their closet and pray for The Holy Spirit to reveal the Word as they read.
“Ask and it shall be given you, seek and you shall find, knock and the Door shall be open unto you”
Yeshua the Messiah in Luke 11:9

    You can understand it.

Poor teaching and also a lack of willingness to fully share to ensure dominance on the part of some, has created an ignorance of the gospel and the nature of God and man in our current day. Certain people will always take advantage of religion knowing that they might control the wills of others in an unscrupulous way to their advantage, this is the natural bent of mankind unless truly regenerated by the Holy Spirit. Therefore the Bible says, they will be ever learning but never coming to a conclusion.

Because our Creator is not going to allow certain people to understand a LIE. The holy bible was given by the same man who wrote books on and promoted demonology (king james), what the enemy gave to deceive and destroy mankind our Creator uses to warn those who seek truth. christianity IS the deception of Rev 12:9 KJV Psalms 146:3 KJV those words in red: John 15:22 KJV, Matthew 15:9 KJV, better seek TRUTH our Creator is waiting John 4:23 KJV When you apply Ecclesiastes 7:25 KJV with a sincere heart and mind you get John 16:13 KJV only as lesser versions are completely changed or too watered down. 1st amendment rights invoked, removing TRUTH is illegal.

I don't think it means the its bronze age nonsense. I think the reasons behind so many denominations is multi-faceted. It can be due to people interpreting things differently, attaching their own beliefs onto it (whether they know it or not), making assumptions and also allowing different values (based on life experience and indoctrination too) dictate what they believe and how they interpret various parts.
