- Admit it: Hasn't the Godzilla inside you always wanted to grab the Golden Gate Bridge and shake it silly? Finally, you can. In honor of the iconic span's 75th birthday, Exploratorium exhibit developer Dave Fleming presents a dynamic model of the Golden Gate Bridge. What happens to the bridge during an earthquake? How about strong winds and heavy traffic? The model dances and wiggles realistically, displaying the same vibrational modes and motions that occur in the actual bridge.

I want one that's the coolest model bridge I've ever seen
I recall my mother driving across the Golden Gate Bridge with me in the front passenger seat and my three siblings in the backseat. There was a severe wind coming in from the West as we drove towards San Francisco in the very middle of the bridge. Without the wind appearing to gust, my mother said that she was moved 4 ft over into the other lane "by the wind".
After seeing this demonstration I'm convinced that we were experiencing one of the bridge modes that was described as a horizontal shift of up to 6 ft in a 45 mile an hour wind. I got to witness it. Scary.

After watching a clip of the Golden Gate Bridge collapsing from a cheesy made-for-TV earthquake movie called 10.5 and another clip on how long suspension bridges survive after all people disappear by the History Channel, this video showed up in my recommended videos.
super. I teach physics to high school kids and I think this video really makes a great deal of concepts crystal clear.
Man, I wish I had a model like that
I want that model
2:22 this is what happened to the verazno bridge in new york because of high wind
I liked it how it looks like

The Golden Gate Bridge is painted with the color "" International Orange "" .
how did you make the bridge
Gabe the Crafter Hi Gabe! This bridge model was made by one of our senior exhibit developers. we have one for the Bay Bridge as well.
Is the golden gate bridge intact?
It hasn't fallen apart yet as far as I know.
That’s a rad model of the Golden gate, where did You get that?- I want one! I’m not against building one for myself ether, I built a wooden model of the Tacoma Narrows bridge back when I was in high-school, but it got knocked out of a window and shattered on the floor. 💔
hi Kerrye-this was an exhibit built by our exhibit developers here at the museum. you can come see it at our home on Pier 15 in SF if you like. Thank you for watching!
Can I have it
