Bastianini, per me, fu il più grande e più bello De Luna della storia. Oltre la sua bellissima voce e presenza arrivava con la sua mestizia a dare la faccia "lunare" del personaggio. Basta vedere il film con Del Monaco del 1957. Manrico, il fratello gemello, è solare e De Luna è lunare. Solo Bastianini con la sua presenza, classe e riservatezza poteva dare tutto questo. Grandissimo!

Well, if he sand this way with a laryngeal cancer, before the cancer he was unbearable good. Every time I go to hear Ettore I am with the same or more of the feeling of owe.
He already had tough laryngeal cancer in 1963. But his voice is still not damaged too much. But 1964 and 1965 were terrible torture to him - his hair even turned grey up to the end of 1965. But even in his sunset he was second to none - modern singers would give a hand to sing one night like him!

マリオ・デル・モナコが来日寸前で来れなくなりＧリマリルリが代役でしたね。私もこの時は社会人になりたてで、給料が15000円でしたが4000円のチケットを買って行きました。あの興奮を超える演奏にはいまだに経験なしです。最近は演出が奇抜で雰囲気がでないので、もっぱら昔の録音を聴いています。

If a singer wants an unusually fast tempo it usually means he/she does not feel in best form.
