lol. Ye Olde Honda V6 crank bolt. I did three of these timing belt jobs for myself, a family member, and a friend back to back to back one weekend. My 1/2 in impact took it off A 2005 Acura TL and a 2014 Acura MDX no problem.
The 2011 Honda Odyssey though? Nope! I set Kroil on it two days in advance, too. I ended up having to use an 8 foot fence post as a cheater bar on my breaker bar before the dang thing finally broke free.
The Lisle high-mass socket really helps with the impact - it worked for me 2 outta 3 times at least. I rested the angle of the breaker bar on a jack stand and covered the whole thing with a thick moving blanket in case anything exploded. I was back at the rear tire jumping on a heavy gauge fence post before a gunshot went off - which was the nut finally breaking free. Nothing broke!
The design of the bolt/crank causes it to tighten from being driven, so they're famous for being tough.

Lol thanks for the info. I thought there must be a reason it was so stubborn. My dad had done couple j series v6 timing belts but only accords and was surprised it was so tight.

@@threepedalgarage993 Yup. Some people torch them but the balancer has a bunch of rubber on it and I didn't want to risk anything.
I turned the fence post into a pull up bar, too, since it wasn't wasted materials. The Odyssey is at 171k miles now so I'm coming up on needing to do the timing belt again and I'm not looking forward to that.
Thanks for sharing your adventure with us!

Next step would clearly be oxygen acetylene touch. It can't be stuck if it's no longer a solid.

holy shnipees that is tight! Is there a reason for it to be so tight, or was permanent loctite put in?

No idea why it didn't want to loosen. I bot the van new and never touched it before, and hopefully never again.

@@threepedalgarage993 Well I'm glad it worked out for you!
And since I'm at it, great "production value" on this video. Nice mic quality, good framing and to-the point pacing. Not many low-subscriber channels are as skilled as you are

Yeah, couldn't stop thinking how bad a snapped end of crank shaft would be.
