I heard if you retract it all the way out and spray the belt (the bit closest to the hole it rewinds into) with some silicone wd40, let it retract until the bit with the wd40 on it is inside the tensioner, pull it a bit let it retract a bit and do that a few times over, it will retract like brand new again.
