    I am a diasporan and have just watched this interview from my vantage point. It was very insightful and refreshing to hear the Governor eloquently respond to each and every question confidently and comprehensively. If this interview panel had included Richard Quest (CNN Business Editor) investors would come knocking. Kudos to Mr Governor for being across every aspect of governance and judicious public management.

    This quite an interesting interview with the Governor of Lagos with four different media houses in the country. Kudo to Arise News for this bright and effective initiative on how the Governors could be monitored. I very much encourage all the similar interview be extended to the rest 35 Governors and the FCT Minister so that the general public can have first hand information of what the Governors are doing in their respective states. The Governor's preparation for this interview is commendable and it is hoped that other governors around the country have the opportunity to be interviewed by this same group of journalists to avoid biasness.

    If we had a president and more governors that could do this, people won't become so worried and hopeless

      Honestly. Perhaps a weekly 30 mins briefing from the president and a 6 month or quarterly media chat like this. In fact that president will become too popular.

    Thank you for speaking to us and for the exemplary leadership during the 2020 pandemic. At this time of severe economic hardship would you consider employee rebate on their taxes for the duration of this crises so as to enable staff of SME’s more able to meet their personal needs. Would you consider tax breaks to essential sectors that are being challenged by the exponential rising costs due to the scarcity of FX?

    The biggest challenge in your government is the officials handling the execution of these policies , I think if you can deal with that, you would have achieved a milestone
    Your plans are brilliant, hopefully, the officials supervising and managing these plans will be people of intergrity, I'd strongly suggest you employ auditors to examine the execution of these plans, the main problem with Nigerians serving Nigerians is lack of accountability!!!
    In addition I'd suggest you look into regulating house rent and other sectors of the state that is overpriced because of lack of government interference, an example of government interference that regulated the transportation was the BRT introduced during Fashola's time, a majority of the population(masses) are still benefitting from that(thanks to your government, that initiative keeps getting better). The taxes received in Lagos as well as partnership with private individuals would go a long way to help in regulating house rents.

    Use a generic name that’s easy to remember and fun for the Governor’s meal offer to 1500 people in each local government area.
    Soup Kitchen may not be that easy to remember I think 🤔
    - Governor’s pot
    - Sanwo-Olu’s pot
    - Koko ijoba
    -…?
    -…?
    It may be impossible to serve a portion from the ‘Governor’s Pot’ without an egg 🥚/ a good portion of fish 🐟/ Beef on it. Fun things can aid standardisation a times. It would also help lighten the stress people are going through. Tiny signs 🪧 should direct people to where to be served or have a take away.
    ✔️affordable solar panels should help energy supply.
    ✔️On Vandalism, would it be more practical to factor security measures into projects to DETER vandals or theft?
    -There are CCTVs that are effective in the dark. Some are for highways and cover appreciable distance. AND can be monitored remotely.

    I think the idea of increasing the size of the civil service simply encourages inefficiency and bureaucratic bottlenecks, government at national and sub national level should think small government and encourage the efficiency private sector to play a larger roll while providing laws to discourage price gouging encourage competition and the right environment to do business.

    • @azeezosho9459
      @azeezosho9459 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Well the proponents of a small government hypothesis believes that people will always do the right thing. And all what the government does is get in the way. Lagosians turn pedestrian bridges into a market, railway line into a market, open defication (I have a story on that), people sand fill canals and build on them, people build houses on pipelines and under power lines. Our people don’t act reasonably, that’s why we need big government in Nigeria.

    • @azeezosho9459
      @azeezosho9459 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      As for open defication, at ojodu Berger, I personally have seen 2 different public toilets, one beautiful one built by the private sector and another standard one probably built by the NURTW or local government. Can you believe that right at the back of the public toilet is where people shit and piss.

    A state government that is reacting instead of proactive is a failed government. What do you do to people in your government who did not do their jobs. Commissioner of environment and physical planning should be fired.
