Attending to 'I am' is our first and foremost duty. If we do this duty, all the other duties will go on perfectly. That Bhagavan has assured us in so many ways. 🙏

I wonder if its like mindfulness. We do things without attachment or clinging

Where is the motivation to do things-accomplish things-if I’m focused on “ I am “? In this world, I need to get things for my self ( ego ). Doing so would drag me away from “I am” consciousness.

      My views...
Mindfulness (awareness based approach) and Vedantic (atma vichara) approach are two sides of the same coin.
Awareness based approach focusses on what is Anitya (impermanent and changing) that is body(breath + all senses), bodily sensations (pranic energy flows) and mind states while Vedantic approach focusses on "I am" the Nitya (the eternal, the existence itself)

    thank you, michael.
everything you say is true, but, i got the impression the questioner was looking for a tool to keep attention on the self throughout the day.
2 powerful methods that have worked for me:
    1) japa, recitation of mantra, all day long. it seems a bit monotonous at first, returning attention to the mantra again and again, but then it gets liberating and empowering, attention to the self increases.
    2) constant attention to the breath. breathing in...breathing out...breathing in...breathing out.
either one of these can be done in the midst of all other activites, while walking, driving, typing a message.

@bernhard1071 you are free to have your opinions.
however, i can state for a fact, based on my own experience, that these methods have worked for me, to maintain self-attention.
i am offering the suggestion freely, for anyone who wishes to use it.
i understand you're very interested in being more right, or more clever, than other people, and want to debate constantly, but, i'm sorry i have no such interest, it has no value to me.

@bernhard1071 i have never distorted bhagavan's teaching as you claim, do not speak falsely.
bhagavan on at least one occasion i can recall, encouraged a devotee to continue japa (mantra) practice.
samyama consists of dhyana, dharana, and samadhi.
in order to enter into samadhi, concentration is required.
japa and attention to breath are both gateways to dharana (though, not exclusively, there are others).
i don't know what your deal is, but, your repeated angry, contentious comments towards me suggest that you are really not a happy person, and that you really aren't practicing self attention.
maybe you are triggered by something i previously said, and, if so, i apologize.
i have no ill will towards you, and i wish you nothing but peace and happiness.
i have no need to contend with you, my attention is on the self, there is nothing other than the self, so there is no one to contend with, truthfully speaking.
i have plainly stated 2 methods i've used, that have helped me return attention to the self, over and over again, if it doesn't work for you, don't use it, there's really no need to argue about it.

      @@rafael.stoneman excellent point.
pranayama can be very powerful, and can awaken the kundalini quickly.
especially for those who find it difficult to see past material consciousness.
when you directly experience existence as pure energy, as vibration, it is like a whole new dimension of reality is opening up for you.

@bernhard1071 it's best to look to bhagavan's life as an example.
did he make accusatory statements towards others, or suggest to others that he knows better?
he showed extraordinary kindness and respect towards all other human beings (and non human beings), without judgement.
