The Carolina Chocolate Drops popularized this song in recent years, but it was first recorded around 1950. All great stuff.
Key of G with banjo in standard G tuning (gDGBD).

Slow picking banjo sounds always better to me. I love the way you play and sing it. Thanks for sharing !
Thank you very much, Nikos. Glad to share!
Fun to come across a TH-cam video for a song I'd never heard and then be able to play it proficiently 15 minutes later. Thanks a ton pardner!
Fantastic! Glad to pass it on.
God Bless ya brother
Back at you!
I love this. Im learning it overhand right now but this two finger style sounds much better honestly
Thanks!. Yeah, same here. I've played this overhand for a good long while, but when I changed to 2F, I liked it a lot better.
Hey Jack you're just so sweet I just want to hug your neck you put me into mine on my father but he's gone to heaven now but your music is sweet touches my heart and if he was still alive you would put a smile on his face thank you for your sweet music 🤩
Jerrold, what a wonderful sentiment! So glad the my music connected with you.
This has always been a fave of mine!
omg thank you for this! going to give it a try right away :)
You are most welcome, banjodaze! I hope you have some fun with it. Since you are a fan of Ola Belle Reed, you may want to check out my Undone in Sorrow playlist. I have a two finger version, an “advanced” clawhammer version, and an “easier” clawhammer version, each with a tab, just like with C&B. th-cam.com/play/PL00z9mDkwwfcvlKZGQouhzt_2AUAkigey.html

Do they serve them at Tina’s Grill?
@@banjojack I'm in Pinebluff, have to check out Tina's place and find out sometime, good pickin.
Originally by The Carolina Chocolate Drops.
I first heard the Drops play this song, but in researching its history, I found out it was recorded by the Carolina Sunshine Trio around 1950, and maybe earlier by other artists. I don’t really know the origin of the song-perhaps just “traditional”?
Nice video Jack! I heard this tune about a year ago for the first time - love it! Interested in learning some more 2-finger style on the banjo so maybe this'll be a good tune for me to work on. Thanks!
Thanks Darrin! Yeah, this should be a good tune to work on. There's more stuff in my "Two finger banjo with tabs" playlist. Have fun!
Very nice 😊
Thanks Olly!
wow next time !enjoy this video!
Next time!
Your instrument looks like kendal mint cake. It's sweet and beautiful.
Thanks so much Stuart!
Great picking! Is this the same as big rock candy mountain?
Thanks! Big Rock Candy Mountain is a different tune. Here’s my version: th-cam.com/video/AtOZaMxP6uw/w-d-xo.html
